Manipulation—a strong word, especially if it is related to elements.

Water manipulation, fire manipulation, earth manipulation, and so on.

Any of these manipulations could make the one who owns them the strongest.

Manipulating an element literally made it possible for one to do whatever they wanted to do with it.

Let's just take the fire, for example. With fire manipulation, you can control all kinds of fires—no fire would ever be able to hurt you.

Then there was a very unique element.

Space element—one of the major elements, harder to control when compared to the other basic elements.

It was a well-known fact that anyone with space elemental affinity could turn into an unstoppable powerhouse if taught by good masters, that is.

What if one could manipulate it?

Wouldn't that make the owner of that ability a totally broken character?

Was it even possible for someone to have that kind of ability?

One shouldn't have that kind of reality-shattering ability, or at least that was what Selina thought until a moment ago...

'W-What the hell...'

This was all she could think of the moment she saw Alex's finger gripping the piece of stone she had thrown ahead.

'H-He really managed to do it without even realizing what he was actually doing...'

What Alex used to do before when he zapped from one place to another was move the space around him in such a way that he would reach the desired spot in an instant, and that was fine, but he did it without even realizing it!

Now, when he was asked to bring the stone back, he was supposed to manipulate the space around the stone, pulling the space closer to himself, hence making the stone move closer as well, but he didn't know that.

He didn't even know how zapping was done, so how could he know what to do in this one?!

All he did was will for the space around him to bring the stone in his palm, and it did just that.

This was the only thing Selina could come up with, and no matter how unbelievable it felt to her, she knew that even if Alex didn't have space manipulation ability, he wasn't very far from it.

This, however, was enough to send quakes through the demon fox's body, shaking her very world to the core.

Alex's affinity with space was so high that he could manipulate space itself!

Or so was what Selina thought.

"What's wrong, Selina?"

Alex, on the other hand, was unable to understand why Selina's expressions and emotions made it seem like her beliefs were crumbling.

"Huh?"

His puzzled voice reached Selina's ears, breaking her out of her thoughts, her eyes quivering as they gazed at Alex before she spoke.

"D-Do you know what you just did...?"

She shuttered, still in disbelief.

She was someone who prided herself on having a superb affinity with space elements, but even she never thought that space manipulation was possible.

It was just too much for her to take in that someone was actually able to do it.

"I did what you asked me to?"

Alex, however, just tilted his head in confusion.

'What is she getting at?'

He questioned inwardly, really confused as to why Selina seemed so shocked.

It was then that he heard Sophia's voice inside of his head, causing him to frown harder.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

But before he could question Sophia about it, Selina stepped forward, her eyes wide with disbelief and her fists clenched in anger.

"Are you intentionally playing dumb with me?!"

Her voice raised a bit, her tone turning casual, seemingly forgetting the fact that she was talking to the demon lord of the empire.

It was just too much for her after all.

Not knowing what he had done was one thing, but not realizing it even was a different thing, like, how the hell can one be so clueless about their own abilities?!

To her, it looked more like Alex humbling himself in front of her. And she didn't like that.

Alex, on the other hand, didn't say anything about Selina's disrespect toward him, as he was more focused on what she was so irritated about.

What did he even do to warrant her irk?

"Can you at least tell me what I did?"

Alex's frown deepened as he questioned with a puzzled expression marring his face.

Selina, however, finally realized what she had done; it was just a momentary reflexive action she did without realizing.

She just couldn't take the fact that someone with so much potential had let it go to waste by not even using it until now.

She hurriedly took a step back, her head gaze moving toward the ground, and her body quivering for a second.

"I-I'm sorry, my lord—"

She forgot that Alex wasn't just her temporary student, but her lord as well; she was just too much in the flow of her teaching that she missed such an important thing.

Her words, however, were cut short as Alex waved his hand, interrupting her.

"It's fine, just explain the reason for your overreaction."

Unlike what one would think, he really didn't know why she had that kind of reaction, as he didn't know that his actions weren't something anyone could do.

He never knew the right way to do it and didn't know how others did it; it was just too easy for him from the start.

Selina, who heard Alex's words, just sighed inwardly, now aware that Alex wasn't playing dumb—he really didn't know anything.

Her eyes turned up, staring into Alex's confused red eyes before she began.

"You can manipulate space elements."

She stated, causing Alex to tilt his head again, shaking his head after a second.

"No, I don't."

He was well aware of his abilities, and he knew that although it looked like he was manipulating space, he actually wasn't.

He could control the space and command it to a certain extent, but manipulating it was another thing altogether.

"You can, my lord."

Selina, however, didn't budge; she knew what she had seen and felt, and she knew that she wasn't in the wrong.

Alex, who heard her words, paused for a second, his eyes blankly staring at her, astonished by the confidence in her voice; it was as if she was sure of her conjecture.

But then he just sighed.

"Is this what caused your shocked disbelief?"

He questioned with a palm on his head.

This was just not what he had expected from Selina after he showed her so much of his talent already.

"Yes."

Selina, who had now calmed down a bit, spoke with a straight face, not willing to show her shocked expression anymore.

But Alex just sighed again.

"This was really not space manipulation..."

The next second he raised his hand, stopping Selina before she could speak up again.

He already knew that she wasn't going to believe him like this, so he added.

"Let me show you real space manipulation."

*Snap*

As those words left his lips, his eyes turned serious, and he snapped his fingers.

That snap echoed throughout the surroundings, sending a shiver down the spine of Selina, who heard it up close; her eyes widened in alarm, her mind screaming for her to run away from Alex.

But before she could do it...

*Woosh*

She felt something washing over her, and she froze.

She could feel it—her control over space was seized—she couldn't control the space around her anymore.

"W-Wha..."

Her expression turned to pure horror as she thought that she lost her abilities for a second, but then he heard Alex's voice.

"This is what I call space manipulation..."

His voice, as serious as it could, reached her ears, and the moment she turned to look at him, her eyes widened more than before.

'W-What the hell?!'

She found herself standing upside down in an open space with nothing but stars surrounding them; one couldn't tell which was the right direction, but both she and Alex were standing in minus parallel directions.

That was why she thought that she was standing inversely to the ground.

This was the power of Alex's zone—an ability that gave him the ability to manipulate the 5 basic elements, including space.

This was what he called manipulation; the one he did before wasn't actually manipulation.

"I-I can't use my space powers..."

Selina, on the other hand, shuttered, her words filled with dread, hoping that whatever was happening was just temporary.

*Woosh*

The next instant, Alex waved his hand, and Selina, who wasn't able to use her space abilities, finally relaxed, as she had her abilities return to her.

She was like a fish out of water the moment her space powers, but as soon as she got it back, she breathed a sigh of relief.

*Snap*

With a snap of her finger, she was now standing face to face with Alex, but a hint of apprehension was still present on her face as she could feel the suppression over her powers even now.

"As I said, this is space manipulation—the real and the only space manipulation."

Alex repeated, and that day, Selina realized the power of space manipulation, which she was never able to understand before.

That day, she knew that Alex might be the only one who could help her break the barrier she was facing while moving forward with her space ability progression.
