Primordial Soul's Rebirth

CHAPTER 386 - “...majestic and haunting at the same time.”

"W-Who are you?"

Shirozan, sitting on his comfy bed, staring at Alex, who was sitting on a chair made of stone, just like the others, including completely awake Theron, asked him again.

This was the first question he asked Alex, and this was the same question he could ask right now.

"I wonder that myself..."

Alex, however, just smiled wistfully, letting a defeated sigh out of his lips.

If he knew about his past, then his curiosity would've died long ago, and maybe he wouldn't even have been the same Alex he was right now.

"What do you mean?" Questioned Shirozan with a frown.

He didn't understand what Alex meant.

Did he not know about his own past? Was that even possible?

'Does he have his memories erased or something?'

This question suddenly flashed in his mind, causing his frown to deepen.

"I mean what I said: I don't know anything about my past; all I have are the memories of this year—that's all."

Alex replied to Shirozan's question, and Shirozan, who had calmed down a bit after he had deactivated his eye ability, questioned again.

"Did someone seal your memories, or were they erased? Or is it that you don't even remember that?"

Shirozan was one of the oldest beings on the planet, and he knew many things, so now that he knew that Alex wasn't really an enemy, he wanted to help him if he could.

It was not just Shirozan, though; even Theron wanted to do the same.

He didn't know that his only older brother—one that he got not long ago—had such a problem, so it came in as a shocker to him, but that didn't make him less determined to help Alex, if he could, that is.

Ann, Alice, Luna, and Noctura, on the other hand, just sighed in defeat as they knew that they wouldn't be able to help Alex.

All of them knew about Alex's condition and many of Alex's abilities, even Luna did, as she was told almost everything about Alex by Ann, Alice, and Alex himself.

Alex, who could tell what everyone must be thinking, just smiled on the inside before he answered Shirozan's question.

"I can't tell that as well; everything about my past feels like something covered by a thick veil, making it impossible for me to see through it, and that was why I wanted to know what you saw when you looked at me."

Alex's words caused the next thing Shirozan was about to say to get stuck in his mouth as he frowned.

"Now that you mention it, how did you know about my ability? How did you know what I could see?"

His question was quite natural, as anyone would want to know how their secret was known to a guy they just met.

Shirozan's eyes were something of a trump card in his hands—something that could help him turn the tables in a battle—so, of course, he would want to know how Alex knew about it.

And Alex, who heard that question, didn't see any harm in telling Shirozan about it.

"You are not the only one with eye-related ability, Shirozan."

Alex spoke, mentioning his name even though no one ever mentioned the guy's name.

By now, everyone was already aware that the white-haired guy in front of them was the white tiger, guardian of the Ferox Empire, but knowing his name was a different thing.

"I see…"

Shirozan, after staring into Alex's eyes for a while, nodded his head, but his expression still remained serious.

It would be hard for him to show his true wild self in front of Alex after what he had seen, at least for a while.

"So, can you tell me what you saw?"

Alex, still fixated on the same thing, questioned Shirozan, causing all eyes to turn toward the guy.

"It was hard to tell since I saw it just for a second before I had to pull back or get devoured, but it seemed like a large mass of space filled with swirling nebulas and galaxies; it was majestic and haunting at the same time."

Shirozan, who tried his best to give a vivid picture of what he saw, couldn't help but tremble as the sensation of almost having himself devoured wasn't very pleasant—at least not for him.

His words, however, sent everyone into deep contemplation before Alex spoke.

"You know about your ability better than anyone else, and you have been using it for a while, so could you tell what you could make out of whatever you saw?"

Alex's eyes stared deep into Shirozan's eyes, hoping to get something out of this conversation; anything was fine, but he needed something.

Even after all this hyping, if he got nothing, then he would be utterly disappointed.

"From what I can tell, you were born way before I could even imagine; I got this ancient feeling when I looked at your origin's reflection, and you were very unstable by the time you were born."

Shirozan didn't disappoint Alex, as he gave the guy something—whatever he could.

Alex and the others, however, remained silent as they could see Shirozan thinking hard about something, trying his best to make a guess about whatever else he saw, but in the end, he sighed.

"Unfortunately, that is all I can tell you..."

His gaze turned downcast as he really couldn't make much out of what he saw; it was as if a barrier was stopping him from discovering anything about it.

He even felt that it wasn't something he was supposed to be able to see on the first page, but whatever it was, it was something way above his pay grade.

'Ancient, large, chaotic, nebulas, and galaxies...'

Alex, on the other hand, started to try to form a link between all of the things he got from Shirozan's words.

He knew that Shirozan had done whatever he could; now it was up to him to look through the things he told and see if anything made sense.

The room got enveloped in a contemplative silence, making the atmosphere a bit heavy yet not so much that one would feel suffocated.

But just then, Alice remembered something.

"Who is Emberlyn?"

She questioned, looking at Shirozan with a frown.

She could remember the first question the guy asked her when he saw her, and for some reason, she could tell that his motive for coming to that location was that in the first place.

Her question caused everyone to break out of their thoughts, and Shirozan, who heard her question, sighed, a melancholy look marring his face.

"Emberlyn Ashborn, that is her full name."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

But before the guy could speak, Alex began, causing everyone to turn to him, and Shizoran, who heard his words, had his eyes widen a bit.

"You know her?"

He questioned, his voice laced with surprise.

To that, Alex just smiled.

"Yes, she is the original Phoenix. I met her a while back."

His last words, however, caused Shirozan's eyes to tremble violently as he jumped out of his bed.

"W-What did you say?!"

He stood right in front of Alex, his eyes wide with disbelief and doubt, as he exclaimed.

The guy was about to hold Alex's collar, wanting to lift him off the ground, but the image from before played in his mind, causing him to discard that thought as soon as it came to his mind.

"If you are asking about the part where I said that I met her, then it is the truth; she is alive, and although not as strong as before, she is still as kind as she was said to be."

His words caused Shirozan's body to tremble as his eyes quaked, not wanting to believe that it was the truth, but Alex didn't seem to be lying as well.

"You could feel her aura and her blood from Alice, couldn't you?" Your journey continues on empire

Alex questioned as he could tell that Shirozan was having a hard time believing his words; that guy had seen Emberlyn die with his eyes after all.

"Y-Yes..."

Shirozan muttered, still unable to process Alex's words.

Emberlyn's death was the biggest regret of his life, as he knew that if he were a bit faster, then he could've saved her, so the thought of her being alive was just too good to be true for him.

"That was because Alice was supposed to be the vassal for her, and she was having her body upgraded to meet Emberlyn's soul, but I stopped the process and brought her back.

That is why you can feel the Phoenix's aura within her body."

Alex's words caused Shirozan to raise his head, staring at Alice before he realized something.

"Soul?"

He frowned at that, and Alex just shook his head.

"She was killed that day; it was thanks to her ability that she was able to save her soul, or else she would've really died, but for now, even if she is a soul, she is alive."

Alex spoke, causing Shirozan to go silent.

He didn't know much if Alex's words were true or not, but if they were, then he was really thankful to Alex for being the bearer of this news.

He was now going to have to visit the Phoenixia Empire soon...
