Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 1027 Sell me a lie.

[Eon's POV: ]

I arrived at the test location for the last test… but, it wasn't like how I expected it to be.

"Oh. You're finally here."

Since the last tests have been conducted in a unique environment with no one present, I thought this time would be the same as well. The one conducting these tests for the student council, the headmaster of the academy, had made sure to make a test that would evaluate the students under him as best he could.

The last few tests were genuinely helpful to even me who did not care much about these tests, and yet it was helpful in more than one way.

"Headmaster?"

Be it the crazy and difficult practical tests or the other tests that made me push my mental capacity to its limits, the eleven tests until now were quite fun despite their difficulties.

'Sure they weren't as fun as the tests that the others had. I shouldn't say the other's tests were better, but they were quite unique in their own way.'

I'd have loved to have more practical tests in a few tests like for my cooking and magic theory paper, but what I got wasn't that bad either.

It was decent at the very least, so I was looking forward to this last test as well.

"Surprised to see me here?"

"Well… yeah?"

It was going to be a practical test this time as well, at least it should have been since that's how it was for the others.

But, my testing area was not as I expected it to be, and to add onto that, the headmaster was sitting in this seemingly empty room… looking at me with a strange smile.

"There's nothing to be surprised about my presence here, if you think about it."

The room was empty with only two chairs and a desk so I walked up to him and sat down before him on the other side of the desk.

The area around us, this small room was not white or blank, but simply a dull painted room that had nothing other than these three pieces of furniture.

The chairs weren't uncomfortable but they weren't a throne either. The desk or the table between us was also pretty simple and nothing fancy.

The headmaster was looking directly at me and I could tell this wasn't an illusion of him or a magical projection but his real body.

He was here when he should be evaluating the other students… I couldn't help but wonder what he was doing here.

"You don't really have to give this test, you know Lucifer."

"Hmm?"

He was looking at me as if he could read the questions that I was trying to hide. It was strange, but at the same time, it was something I should have been expecting from him in a situation like this.

"See. That reasoning and judgement of yours… it's not something one could learn from books or obtain from simple experiences."

"What do you wanna say, headmaster. I don't understand why you're here right now."

"Oh you do know the reason. And that convincing expression of yours is also what makes you different from the rest of them,"

Okay so…

'I don't know why he's here, but it has something to do with this test.'

It obviously has something to do with this test since it's about Economy and currency.

"If we give you a practical test, be it the simplest thing or the most complex deal of your life, it's obvious to us that you won't really have any problems with it.

You already know all that we can teach you on this subject, you have had some of the best teachers of this field, and since I've dealt with you myself, I know you won't really learn anything from something we can give you within the limitations of this year's test."

There was a helpless sigh at the end of that sentence, so I understood what the headmaster was doing here instantly.

Stay tuned with empire

"You can't give me full marks without a test… you're here because of that, right?"

"See. You can tell that as well.

It is your extensive knowledge of the academy, this world, the human minds, and the simple human nature that makes you similar to the people that I would have gathered to create a test for you."

He looked at me bitterly, a sign of rare weakness present in his ever glowing eyes.

"When it comes to money and the flow of the market, it's better to leave it undisclosed even to the trusted people if we want things to flow as they are.

I can understand why you don't do a lot of things that you are capable of, as well as why you choose to prevent all those things even though you have no obligation to do so.

The ripples of consequences are going to be obvious anywhere we go. Since money is the major controller of the small elements of this world, an impact to it will result in much larger ripples of consequences."

He could have given me a difficult test like he did with the other tests and tested my limits or helped me discover or rediscover new things, but unlike the other papers, revelations about the market movements and knowledge that should not be revealed to people who haven't discovered these things themselves will only cause problems.

'These power dynamics, these seemingly trivial looking yet unfathomable power differences, are pretty much what makes things complicated on the higher grounds.'

My mother is one of the richest people in the world and yet there are things that she doesn't tell me… she couldn't do it, it's simply not recommended.

'Much like the truths that govern the world on the higher realms, when it comes to the ground level human lives, even the most trivial of the knowledge of those at the top who are responsible for the smooth flow of the world economy, could be a world endangering variable.'

Headmaster knew it, I knew it, and the people that might have made a test appropriate for my level would have known what is appropriate and what isn't as well.

"I will ask you one question since I cannot give you full marks, and you will not get any extra marks even if you answer this question, so I'll apologise for our incompetence first."

"It's not your incompetence. You're simply taking responsibility for what should be the right thing to do."

The end of term tests that the academy takes, even with the loose restrictions for the council members, has its own limitations for each academic year.

'I had my doubts about how they were going to evaluate me given the background I have, but this is better than what I expected.'

I will be missing out on the extra marks, but the headmaster will compensate for it in a different form from his side. That much was given already.

I did not have to worry about anything, so, this wasn't really a bad thing at all.

"This understanding of yours was the major reason I had to do it like this. You're the strangest anomaly I've dealt with Eon, you know?"

He did not call me by my academy name while saying that, showing just how funny this matter actually was from his perspective.

"I'm a simple person if you look at it from a different perspective, headmaster."

He had lived for over a few millennia at the very least so he had a lot of experience with money and market.

He was one of the trickiest opponents to deal with during any kind of serious negotiations, but it had been a valuable experience seriously dealing with him every time we had to deal with something.

"So…"

Just like a negotiation, I knew I will have to think about everything I say when answering his question, taking it as seriously as a valuable deal.

Losing this deal, or losing on any point will be dangerous for me and my test, so I had to pay attention to this.

"It's not much of a question since the test is about economy and currency so, you just have to do one thing: Sell me a lie.

It can be anything that I do not know. Though, if I know or doubt that it's not a Truth, you will have to start again.

You have three hours, just like the others, and your time starts now.

Think before you say anything from now on."

A customer or a consumer is by nature dumb in the eyes of the sellers or the markers. An informed or knowledgeable buyer was a threat to the sellers, and that was the law of the markets.

As long as someone did not know about something, the chances were high that you will be able to sell them something, probably anything as long as you are convincing enough.

But, what do you do when you have to sell someone As knowledgeable as the headmaster something as abstract as a 'lie'?n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Hmmm. So, headmaster."

Like an omnipresent being, he could see things that aren't present in front of him, he could tell things about anything that not just anyone could know about, and he possessed more than one World authorities, making him one of the worst people you would want to deal with.

Be it the common knowledge of this world, the unique knowledge that I had, or the knowledge of the truths that I have obtained, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to sell him something that exists in this world, much less a lie about something that exists in this world.

'It simply wasn't possible.'

So, what else could I do about this predicament?

"Do you know my name, my Code name, in my previous world used to be Hywoz Anik?"

The answer was simple: lying about a world that not even he knew much about…
