Chapter 218: Chapter 218 – No-Good Opponents
Setting those feelings aside, he knew Atlas and Ferin would move when he asked them to. After playing for a while with them, he understood their personality slightly.
'They are just like me. Someone who loves challenge and victory.'
Looking through the scope, he managed to find the two bases. They were pretty close to each other, possibly only separated from each other by 200 to 300 meters.
How would their teams handle the wave? Would the waves combine with each other, and they would defend their bases together?
Max had various questions. He would probably ask Flexy later.
For now, his job was to scout. And scout, he did.
"How is it?" Atlas' voice rang behind him, startling him slightly.
"Hmm…" Max hummed in interest as he moved his scope slowly. "Two players are standing on the wall facing each other, holding rifles. The other two from each team couldn't be seen, probably out there to hunt roaches for extra points."
"So we confirmed four people." The blond-haired man said, "Do you think you can kill the one on the left? I will destroy the right base's core and eliminate them with Fer when they are confused."
"You think you can do that?" Max asked.
There were two ways to destroy and eliminate enemies. One was to wipe them at the same time without allowing their teammates to revive their friends who got knocked down. To put it simply, kill them all and make their vitals all black.
The second way was to destroy their base's main core inside the warehouse. It was connected to their vital sign. And if it was destroyed, their sign would turn black, and the team would be wiped out.
"Against those enemies?" Atlas' voice was tinted with a hint of mocking, "It will be easy. I don't want to say it in front of the leader, but… The enemies in this MMR are a bit too easy for me. Those enemies aren't good enough to play in a professional competition, they are just too lukewarm."
"Hahaha, you're so harsh." Max laughed it out. This man was too arrogant… But he had the skill to back it up and was kind enough to think about Flexy's feelings.
"Don't you think so too?" Atlas smirked, "Having no-good practice opponents like them won't help us in the competition. Let's finish this and increase the leader's MMR so we have stronger opponents."
"Agreed! Let's destroy the right base and then the left." Ferin chimed in with a shrill voice, "It will be easy, I promise. Just shot one guy and then another when he tried to revive his friend, who got knocked down. That will give us enough time for us to destroy the right and go to the left."
Thankfully, Max wasn't streaming yet. If he livestream his current conversation with both of them, his viewers would be either displeased or excited. He didn't know how they would react, but that surely would trouble him.
'If they are that confident, then I guess I will follow their plan.'
"Alright, then. I will shoot in 15 seconds. Is that enough time for both of you to reach the base on the right?"
"That's plenty," Atlas responded confidently as he stood up. He ran down the hill and circled around it to get to the right base with Ferin.
Max saw them and heaved a sigh to calm his nerves. Sniper needed to have a calm and still heart. He couldn't tremble. His hand should be as still as a calm water in the pond.
'Just kill them, eh? So easy to understand, I like it.'
15 seconds passed quickly. He didn't know whether the couple had arrived at the right base or not, but it was time to do it.
Heaving another long sigh, Max's finger rested firmly on the trigger. The scope had already found its target. All he needed to do was to pull.
Kill one person and another when he revived his teammate? That would be useless. It might be the trick in a battle royale game where the sniper ammo couldn't explode.
'I will kill them simultaneously.' He thought.
His concentration peaked. The enemies were close enough to each other for him to blow their heads at the same time.
When he was ready, he didn't hesitate to pull his finger.
Bam!
A loud sound rang, and the shockwave kicked all the gray sand away, exposing his position. However, Max didn't move. He watched the bullet fly toward his target and hit the first player's head.
The head burst into red particles at once. And when that happened, it exploded.
Boom!
All areas around 10 meters from that player were engulfed in blue light. The wall was destroyed, and the unlucky player standing beside him was instantly killed.
A sniper rifle was pretty overpowered in this game. Or at least, that was the case for Max, who was able to run as fast as normal players while holding such a bulky thing.
The other two players from the left base seemed to hear the explosion and hurriedly ran out of the warehouse. They climbed the wall and looked around to find where the enemy's attack originated.
Looking at them, a thought arrived in his mind.
'Ah, let's just kill them too. I don't need to wait for Atlas or Ferin to destroy their base's main core if I can annihilate them.'
They were still confused.
With two more pulls from the triggers, the enemies were easily killed. With no players living, the base slowly crumbled as if a strong earthquake hit it.
At that time, notifications rang in his ears.
[Team OrangeSquash has annihilated Team RoachHunter.]
[500 Annihilation Points have been rewarded.]
[Team OrangeSquash has annihilated Team MoonDust.]
[500 Annihilation Points have been rewarded.]
Max was pleasantly surprised that he heard two kinds of notifications at once. He raised his head and looked at the base located on the right.
The fate that waited at the base was similar to the one on the left. It crumbled slowly into gray sand.
He could see two shadows walking away from the crumbling base. Using the scope, he could see them clearly. Atlas and Ferin bumped their fists. Their expressions were smug.
'Arrogance backed with real skill is just simply confidence. Well, I guess I can show them off to my viewers in my second stream.'
Thinking so, he stood up and picked up his sniper rifle.
It was time to return and prepare for the second wave.
