Chapter 217: Chapter 217 – Being a Third Wheel is Hard
The problem was, if they attacked one base, the one close to it would probably interfere and become the third party. It was a bit unusual that two bases spawned near each other like that, but not impossible. The Goddess of RNG held the saying, after all.
"You guys are really barbaric." Flexy shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. "Is there no better plan in your mind besides raid and destroy?"
"I mean…" Max raised his shoulders, looking at Atlas. "If Atlas alone can annihilate one team easily in this matchmaking, then doesn't that mean the others are just as easy as them? Just think of it like this. Do you need a plan to destroy ants?"
"I agree with Breeze." Atlas nodded, "If the enemies are professional players, then I might just pretend to be one of the players from the other base and cause disturbance that made them fight against each other. However, the skills of our enemies aren't that high. The three of us are enough to destroy them."
Arrogance was indeed something bad. However, confidence was a different thing.
Both Max and Atlas knew their skills and the enemy's skills. In this case, they weren't arrogant. They were only confident. It was something only experience provided. Experience that only those at the top could know.
Flexy also understood their skill level. As a leader, he shouldn't have allowed them to go with their plan. But this game was to gauge each other's skills and learn teamwork.
'It might be a good chance to see their real skills.' The orange-haired streamer thought. 'The ones who wanted to win this game so badly are the three of them, not me. If they still wanted to attack those bases, then so be it. They are the ones held responsible for the result.'
"Fine." Flexy sighed in defeat, "I will protect the base in the meantime. Give me your grappling gun and your sniper, buddy. I will lend you my guns."
"No need to. I am happy enough with the grappling gun and the sniper rifle. I will support both Ferin and Atlas from a distance." Max turned to the blond-haired man beside him. "You can deal with them easily, right?"
"Haha, I will try." Atlas laughed softly, "I can't promise it will be easy, but I am confident it will be over before the second wave. But if we really want to attack, we should go right now. I doubt Fer will have the patience to wait for too long without moving."
"Well then, that's decided." Max nodded in satisfaction, and a wild grin rose behind the visor. "I am counting on you to protect the base, buddy. Good luck."
"Have fun wreaking havoc," Flexy said, letting out another sigh.
'It's not entertaining at all.' He added in his mind.
Being a leader of unruly individuals who were all more skilled than him was hard.

After replenishing all their magazines and auxiliary items, Max and Atlas ran at full speed toward the East, where Ferin was.
While they were both bringing different kinds of weapons, with Max holding a heavier kind, their running speed was unexpectedly the same. It wasn't due to the difference in their physical capability.
In the VR world, it was all about reaction and technique. That was why people with higher SR usually were a little faster than those with lower SR. Not only that, but a running technique also affected one's speed more than most people thought.
'He's amazing.' Max genuinely thought. 'His SR might be close to mine… Around 97.9 to 98.5? It might be even higher. His running posture is a mess. He's clearly not a trained athlete. But his speed can still match up mine.'
They continued to run, circling around craters and boulders. While doing that, Atlas kept communicating with Ferin.
"I can see the boulder that looks like a tree now. Where are you, Fer?"
(A second. Just keep looking at it.)
Ferin's voice rang in the communication device. Max could also see the boulder that was shaped like a tree now.
A few seconds later, someone in a suit appeared from the horizon. It seemed like the area past the boulder was a slope.
That someone waved her hand excitedly when they saw them approaching.
(I am here!)
Both of them approached the figure and stopped in front of her. Ferin's face lit up considerably when she saw Atlas, just like a dog who had met her owner after not meeting him for a long time. She even jumped and hugged him without caring where they were.
Max felt like a third wheel between them. He needed to steer the situation before they continued their flirty act. That was possibly the only thing that stopped them from being perfect teammates.
"Mi– Ferin, where are the enemy bases? I want to check the situation from far away."
Remembering what Atlas told him how to call Ferin, Max changed the way he called her in the middle of the sentence.
Turning at him, Ferin looked a little bit displeased as she pointed in a certain direction twice.
"There and there." She said, "All the enemies are inside. I saw them entering after I heard the notification about our team killing the first wave boss.
"I see. Can I see them if I reach this hill's highest point?"
"You totally can!" Ferin exclaimed, puffing her chest proudly. "In fact, this spot is the best for snipers. When I heard that you are coming, I immediately looked for the best spot. Hehe, I also found a way to enter their base stealthily. We can attack anytime."
"Hee… You're as prepared as ever, Fer. Good job." Atlas praised and patted her head.
"Hehehe, of course, I am."
Both of them once again entered their own world. Max smiled wryly, feeling like he was ignored in this place. Protecting the base was much, much easier than watching them flirting.
'Ah… Does Flexy also feel like this when he's alone with them? Rather, I don't think he felt something like this. That bastard has a sexy girlfriend… But, I am not jealous of him. I wonder why?'
While thinking so, he went to the highest point of the hill, crouched, and set up his sniper rifle. At that moment, he realized and got the answer to his question.
'Ah, Lisa always hit and mocked him. That's why I don't feel like they are really lovers. It's like a relationship between a master and her dog.' He nodded in understanding.
