Chapter 901: Absolute Defeat
Chapter 901: Absolute Defeat
Adonis staggered to his feet, his breaths ragged and uneven.
The golden glow of his energy slowly began to rise and crackle. It illuminated the tension in the air, casting shadows across the ancient chamber. Rey stood unmoving, his calm demeanor a stark contrast to Adonis' frenzied state.
"[Perfect Divine Sword Summon]!" Adonis growled.
The radiant blade materialized in his grip, its brilliance pulsating with divine energy. Despite the exhaustion creeping into his limbs, his resolve hadn't wavered.
Rey stood a short distance away, his posture relaxed, yet his sheer presence felt
overwhelming. His face was stoic, his eyes cold and unyielding. He hadn't used a single skill, relying solely on raw strength and speed to dominate Adonis so far.
"Stay down, Adonis."
The Hero shook his head and kept growling. He tightened his grip on the golden sword, its radiant energy pulsating in his hand.
"I'm not giving up, Rey!" He yelled, the sound echoing through the chamber.
Rey tilted his head slightly, his expression unchanging. "You've already lost, Adonis. Stop this before it gets worse."
"Never!"
With a battle cry, Adonis launched himself forward, the golden blade cutting through the air as he activated another skill. "[Absolute Good Shall Prevail]!" he bellowed. A powerful surge of divine energy enveloped him, amplifying his speed and strength.
The ground beneath his feet cracked with the force of his push, and he closed the gap between them in an instant.
The Skill's effect was simple, but also complex.
As long as Adonis was doing something good, his power would skyrocket to the proportion of his conviction. In essence, it all depended on his will and unwavering resolve to do the right thing.
And at this moment... that was all that remained within him.
~WHUUUUUM!~
The strike came fast and hard, aimed directly at Rey's chest. But Rey moved with almost inhuman precision.
He sidestepped the attack effortlessly, the blade's edge slicing through empty air. Before Adonis could recover, Rey's hand shot out, grabbing his wrist in an iron grip.
Adonis gasped as Rey twisted his arm, forcing him to release the sword. It clattered to the ground, the divine energy dissipating as quickly as it had come.
"You're too slow," Rey said coldly, his grip tightening.
Adonis growled in frustration, summoning his mana for another attempt. "[Divine Light Magic]!" A blinding flash erupted from his outstretched hand, aiming to blind Rey and force him to let go.
Rey's expression didn't change. He didn't even flinch as the light engulfed them both. When the brilliance faded, Adonis found himself staring into Rey's unperturbed eyes.
"Is that all you've got?" Rey asked, his voice devoid of mockery but heavy with disappointment.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Adonis wrenched himself free, stumbling back a few steps. He activated [Perfect Full Sense], enhancing his perception to its maximum. Every detail of Rey's movements became crystal clear-the subtle shifts in his stance, the faint tightening of his muscles.
'I can do this,' Adonis thought, his confidence surging. 'I just have to outmaneuver him.'
He dashed forward again, his enhanced senses guiding him as he unleashed a flurry of strikes with his fists, each one charged with divine energy. The speed and precision of his attacks were unparalleled, each blow aimed at Rey's vital points.
But Rey was faster.
Effortlessly, he weaved through the onslaught, dodging and parrying with minimal movement. To an observer, it would have looked like a dance-Rey's fluid movements in stark contrast to Adonis's frantic assault.
In a blur of motion, Rey stepped inside Adonis's guard. His palm struck Adonis's chest with a resounding thud, sending him flying across the chamber. He crashed into the wall with enough force to leave cracks spreading through the ancient stone.
Adonis coughed, blood splattering onto the ground as he struggled to stand.
His mind raced, desperation clawing at him. "[Grand Magic Application]!" he groaned, summoning a barrage of magical projectiles that rained down on Rey from all directions.
The chamber filled with explosions as the attacks collided with the ground and walls, creating a cloud of dust and debris. For a moment, Adonis allowed himself a flicker of hope.
But as the smoke cleared, Rey emerged unscathed, his calm expression unchanged. He hadn't even moved from his spot.
Adonis's heart sank.
"You're wasting your energy," Rey said, taking a slow step forward. His presence alone seemed to sap the strength from the air.
Adonis clenched his fists, his body trembling with exhaustion.
'Damnit...' His thoughts echoed. 'If I use up too much energy here, I won't be able to activate the Ancient Magic. But, conserving energy isn't doing me any good here.'
In the end, Rey was just simply too strong.
'I have to risk it... I have to use more power!'
-VWUUUUUUSSHHH!!!~
Adonis activated [Heroic Power], pushing his body beyond its limits. A golden aura enveloped him, and his wounds began to heal. His strength returned in full force, and he prepared for
one final charge.
Rey stopped and raised an eyebrow. "You're persistent, I'll give you that."
With a roar, Adonis surged forward, every ounce of the power he could afford to use focused on this last attack. His golden aura blazed like the sun, and his movements became a blur as
he swung at Rey with everything he had.
Rey didn't even dodge.
Instead, he caught the incoming strike with one hand. The golden energy surged around him, crackling like a thunderstorm, but Rey remained unmoved. His grip tightened on Adonis's arm, and with a single, effortless motion, he slammed the Hero into the ground. The impact shook the chamber, and Adonis let out a choked gasp as the wind was knocked out of him. His aura flickered and died, leaving him splayed out on the floor, utterly defeated. Rey stood over him, his expression softening slightly. "Stop, Adonis. It's over." Adonis tried to move, to summon the strength for another attempt, but his body refused to respond. He lay there, staring up at Rey with a mix of anger and despair.
"You fought well," Rey said, his voice gentler now. "But you can't win this. Not against me."
Adonis closed his eyes, his breathing ragged as the weight of Rey's words settled over him.
The fight was over.
He had suffered an absolute defeat.
