William Butcher, also known as Billy Butcher, and nicknamed "The Butcher," is a key figure in The Boys, and a radical who wants to overthrow the existence of superheroes.

Why is he here?

Alex narrowed his eyes slightly, a complex expression crossing his face.

He had anticipated running into some familiar faces. For instance, he had already crossed paths with one of The Seven, A-Train. But now, seeing Butcher in person, Alex couldn't help but fall into deep thought.

If his conclusions were correct, The Boys hadn't fully entered the storyline yet. Starlight hadn't joined The Seven, and The Invisible Man was still alive, meaning they were still before the main events had started.

The Butcher in front of him hadn't yet crossed paths with Hughie.

So the question remained: why was this man—who specialized in hunting down superheroes—here, and why now?

Alex didn't believe Butcher was just here to get a free meal. This guy wasn't the type to sit idly by. The fact that the Butcher was here meant there was likely a "target" in this very place.

"Hey, what are you looking at?"

A voice suddenly interrupted Alex's thoughts.

"Huh? Oh, nothing."

Alex snapped back to reality, took a sip of his drink, and casually explained.

"I was just looking for the restroom. You know I don't usually come to these kinds of events. There are so many people here, it's a bit overwhelming. Plus, I drank too much water this afternoon, so..."

"Ha, I get it. Honestly, I'm nervous too. It's my first time at such a fancy party. By the way, you can't tell anyone about me drinking, or people will start giving me trouble."

Emma waved her hand casually and then called over one of the servers. "Excuse me, could you tell me where the restroom is?"

"Just go down there, take a left, and it's at the end," the server politely replied. "There's also one on the second floor, same location."

"Thanks!"

Emma smiled and then turned back to Alex. "Need me to come with you? This place is pretty huge."

"No need, I'm not directionally challenged." Alex chuckled. "Besides, you've been eyeing the food table like you're about to drool. You should go eat something."

"Heh, I won't be polite then!"

Emma grinned and wiped her mouth.

"You come find me in the main hall after, okay? I'm gonna shoot a few videos while I'm here. Maybe I'll gain a few followers."

It seemed Emma had big dreams of becoming a star. She always viewed gaining followers as her life goal, even in a place as luxurious as this. Her first instinct upon arriving was to shoot videos.

If it weren't for Anya's birthday party today, Alex figured Emma would have probably started streaming live.

Without saying much more, Alex waved his hand and turned toward the restroom.

He navigated through the crowd, but his attention remained focused, casually monitoring Butcher's movements.

Butcher was sitting on a sofa, casually drinking a glass of wine, taking up space in an entirely unbothered way. He didn't care about acting like an outsider at all, making himself at home without a hint of manners.

As Alex maneuvered past another person, he noticed that his outfit was indeed standing out in this crowd. His sportswear was an odd contrast among all the high-end suits, making it harder for him to blend in.

In this kind of environment, it was best to keep a low profile and avoid drawing too much attention, especially since there were several old classmates and friends of the original Alex around.

Wanting to avoid too much interaction with them, Alex turned and made his way directly to the restroom.

Upon entering, he noticed the party was still getting started, and not many people had arrived yet. Most people had come early to mingle, and those using the restroom were few.

Seeing no one around and unaware of his presence, Alex quickly slipped into the restroom, pulled a card from his pocket, and examined it.

The card depicted a woman covered in blue scales, smiling seductively.

A flash of light, and the next moment, Alex's body began to undergo intense changes. It was as if each scale on his body flipped over. Starting from his head, Alex's form began to shift from top to bottom.

In less than three seconds, Alex had fully transformed into someone else, except for the sportswear still on him.

"Does Mystique's power only affect the body?"

Staring at his clothes, Alex sighed helplessly.

No wonder Mystique hardly ever wears clothes. With her ability, she can freely alter her cells and tissue structure, allowing her to take on anyone's appearance.

But the problem is, her power only affects her body. It can't change anything else, meaning if she wears clothes, she can't alter them along with her transformation.

Just like right now with Alex. He had intended to transform into a white man in a suit, but instead, he became a white man in a suit—on top of which, he was still wearing his sportswear.

Silently, Alex removed all of his clothes and tossed them into the trash bin, covering them with some toilet paper.

'Too bad magic can't be used here. Otherwise, I could open a magic space.'

Shaking his head, Alex pushed open the restroom door.

He had to admit, walking out "bare" was quite a challenge for him.

Maybe to others, Alex appeared in a suit, looking like a successful individual. But only Alex knew that, at the moment, he was practically naked. The clothes were just illusions made from his own skin and tissues.

He could even feel the air brushing against his "clothes," which was a weird experience and a bit nerve-wracking.

But that wasn't the main focus right now. Once back in the main hall, Alex's eyes immediately searched for Butcher.

However, to his surprise, the sofa where Butcher had been sitting was now empty. In the brief time Alex had been in the restroom, Butcher had gotten up and left.

Alex quickly scanned the crowd, his eyes flicking over everyone, searching for Butcher's whereabouts.

Even if Butcher had left, it wasn't likely he could have gone far in such a short time. He must be nearby.

Suddenly, Alex's gaze froze on the stairs. He saw a man dressed exactly like Butcher, his build matching perfectly. But by the time Alex had noticed, the figure had already disappeared around the corner of the upstairs landing.

'He went upstairs?'

Without hesitation, Alex quickened his pace, weaving through the crowd and heading straight for the stairs.

The mansion was enormous—excluding the attic and rooftop, it had five floors. The first floor was only for receptions, while the second floor was where the birthday party would take place, complete with a dance hall.

Alex hurried up to the second floor. There were a lot of people here, mostly staff, preparing for the upcoming party.

After scanning around, Alex spotted Butcher's figure again.

This time, Butcher was still heading upstairs, seemingly not intending to stop here.

It seemed that Butcher had something else in mind.

With that thought, Alex quickly followed Butcher, keeping close behind.

As Alex reached the third floor, the spacious area suddenly narrowed. The large lobby of about a hundred square meters disappeared and turned into a hotel-like corridor.

On either side of the corridor were numerous doors. If Alex was right, this floor was likely the guest rooms. But since most guests were downstairs, no one was around.

Walking down the corridor, Alex's frown deepened.

Based on Butcher's actions, it was clear that he knew this place like the back of his hand. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to move so quickly. This place was huge, and someone unfamiliar with it could easily get lost.

As Alex pondered, he turned a corner, and once again, Butcher appeared in his sights, his figure vanishing at the end of the hallway.

Without hesitation, Alex picked up the pace, but in such a quiet environment, he deliberately slowed his steps to avoid drawing attention.

Just as Alex was about to reach the end of the hallway, a burst of joyful sounds reached his ears.

He slightly slowed his steps and tilted his head, quickly noticing a closed door at the source of the sounds. Judging by the position, this had to be the one.

Walking quietly to the door, Alex leaned in.

The next moment, he heard soft but clear sounds coming from inside.

"Harder, ah, yes."

"Anya, my baby girl."

"…"

Alex raised an eyebrow, shocked.
