Chapter 1554 If You Are Their Mother
1554 If You Are Their Mother
Lu Lijun stepped into Jiang Yuyan's room, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to claim that it had become their shared space. Ever since the day Jiang Yuyan had relented and allowed him access, the room had seamlessly transformed into a joint domain. What started as a persistent request from Lu Lijun to spend every night with her evolved into a gradual assimilation of his personal stuff, ranging from clothing to various essentials, effectively claiming the space as his own.
A portion of the wardrobe now housed his clothes, ties, watches, and perfumes. The bathroom featured duplicates of everything – toothbrushes, cups, towels, and more. Even the work table accommodated two laptops side by side.
On occasion, he would casually don his brother's garments, which Jiang Yuyan had kept, and adorn himself with watches from Lu Qiang's cherished collection.
As Jiang Yuyan rummaged through her wardrobe, contemplating her outfit for the upcoming meeting, she noticed Lu Lijun's entrance. "What brings you here?" Her voice revealed a hint of displeasure.
"To prepare for the meeting we need to attend," he replied, making his way towards the wardrobe.
"Didn't you mention we had enough time when I asked you downstairs to get ready?"
"I just thought getting ready with my wife wouldn't be a bad idea," he responded.
Observing his apparent obliviousness to her displeasure, she paused her preparations and turned to confront him. "When will you stop these childish antics and stop embarrassing me in front of our family?"
"What did I do?" "Ugh, I can't believe you don't even realize," she expressed clear frustration. "Why do you insist on treating that little kid like he's your love rival? He's just a child."
"I've known you since I was a kid, and I don't want another kid vying for your affection."
"Lijun, does that even make sense?"
"To me, it does."
"Your twelve-year-old self was more sensible than you are now?" She commented.
"In the past, if there were any other Weiwei trying to win your affection, my twelve-year-old self would have given him a good beating. Now, he's spared because I can't possibly beat a child."
She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. "You're impossible. You're the kind of man who would get jealous even of their own kids."
"I admit it."
"You would make a heartless father. It's a relief not to have a child when the father is like this," she sighed. "It's fortunate that I can't have kids; otherwise, I'd be facing nothing but trouble in the future."
"Mhmm, that's really good. This way, I can have you all to myself," he said, turning to the wardrobe to pick out his clothes. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
She frowned. "Shouldn't you be consoling me, saying I can still have a child? I'm going through treatment for nothing?"
He didn't turn to look at her but replied, "Whether we can have a child or not doesn't matter, as long as I have you."
Jiang Yuyan fell silent. Regardless of his childish and stubborn behavior, the undeniable truth was that he loved her, no matter what.
Sensing an unusual silence, Lu Lijun turned to find her staring at him without a blink, her eyes glistening with moisture.
He approached her, gently caressing her cheek, a teasing smile playing on his lips. "Are you moved to see how much I love you?"
Jiang Yuyan slapped his hand away. "Go away," she said, turning to leave.
However, Lu Lijun back-hugged her, his arms tightly wrapped around her. Jiang Yuyan remained silent.
"What happened?" he asked softly, a hint of concern in his voice.
"Will you really treat our kids the way you treat Weiwei?"
"Hmm?" He acted as if pondering deeply and then spoke, "I might spare them just because you are their mother."
"Should I be relieved to know they won't suffer under you?"
"They should consider themselves lucky to have you as their mother or..."
"You better treat them better, or I will be upset," she warned.
He chuckled. "Okay."
A genuine smile finally graced her lips, and she turned around to face him. "Let's get ready. We can't keep Mister Hao waiting."
Lu Lijun agreed, let her go, and returned to the wardrobe. "Which one should I wear?"
Jiang Yuyan, who had already chosen her dress, frowned. "Get your own clothes instead of your brother's," she warned.
"You've kept these clothes for the past ten years. If they're left unused, they'll go bad," he said, pulling out a suit. "Does this one look good?"
"Hmm," she nodded and headed to the bathroom.
After half an hour, both returned downstairs, dressed for the meeting.
"Are you two leaving already?" Elder Lu asked.
"Yes, Grandpa," Jiang Yuyan answered. "It's an important project."
"Alright, make sure to return early. We have guests at home."
"We will," she assured and then noticed a little guy, hiding behind his father and peeking at her. He seemed clearly frightened of Lu Lijun and tried to stay away from her.
"Weiwei, come here," Jiang Yuyan said softly.
"I won't. Uncle will..."
"He won't dare. I won't let him," Jiang Yuyan assured. "I will teach him a lesson later."
"I'll wait for it," Lu Lijun said with a light smirk.
"Shut up," she scolded in a low voice and walked toward Weiwei only to kneel before him. "Give me a hug, Weiwei."
Weiwei looked at Lu Lijun, who sighed and looked away. Weiwei finally hugged her, and Jiang Yuyan said, "Now, give me this," pointing towards her cheek. Weiwei gave her a soft peck, and in return, Jiang Yuyan did the same.
Weiwei was finally happy and no longer scared. He heard Jiang Yuyan say, "I'll be back soon, and then we can play."
A lost smile returned to his chubby face. "Yes, I'll wait, Aunt Yuyu."
Jiang Yuyan stood, and they left together in Lu Lijun's car. Once inside, he glanced at her, not yet starting the car.
She met his gaze. "What?"
He pointed to his cheek with his finger, the message clear. "Such a child," she mumbled, leaning toward him to give him a peck on the cheek.
He moved his hand, wiping the spot where Weiwei had kissed her, and then planted his own peck on the same spot.
Jiang Yuyan was momentarily speechless. "My life sure won't be easy with you. I thought your brother was the limit, but you are worse."
"Thanks for the compliment," he said with a light smirk, finally starting the car.
