Chapter 294 Hunting Grounds
Chapter 294 Hunting Grounds
Two Months Later,
"Huff!"
Jake panted as he looked up with sweat pouring down from his eyebrows.
His sword was stuck on the ground next to him, plowed down into what looked like a giant ogre.
It's slimy, green skin oozed out gray blood that slid smoothly off the sword.
Jake held the hilt and took the sword out of the ogre's body, looking to the side.
"How many more?" He asked.
"Twenty to the side, and the boss seems to be holed up behind the front barricade." Myriad Arrows appeared swiftly next to Jake.
"Let the guild members take the remnants. I want to complete the raid as fast as we can. I don't want to waste more time on this." Jake shook his head and looked forward.
His eyes were focused on the three giant ogres, bigger than everyone else, that had wooden shields.
The shields were giant, touching the ground and creating a makeshift wall when the three connected with each other.
But Jake knew that the ogre chief was behind this blockade, and as long as they cleared the blockade, they would swiftly clean up the rest.
"Myriad!" He shouted as he flew forward.
Jake's body moved like a blur, and a blue afterimage was all that remained in the back.
"Flank him!" He shouted as he appeared just feet away from the ogre in the middle.
The three giant ogres were covered in armor from head to toe, although their armor was coarse and unpolished. But still, they were defensive juggernauts, and one shot wasn't going to be enough to deal with them.
"Despairing Strike!"
Jake's sword froze in the air for a second, glowing with a white brilliance, before slamming down into the ogre's helmet with a giant thud.
[Critical Hit!]
The giant health bar took a massive hit just as the ogre stumbled back from the impact.
Jake also flew back and landed on the ground, looking at the other two. With this, he was the main target.
Blast!
The ogre to the left suddenly roared with anger as it stepped back.
Blast!
Once again, something hit the ogre, exploding right as it made contact with the armor.
There were two giant dents in the ogre's armor and it was clear that these blasts were doing significant damage.
Jake smiled as he looked behind him. He nodded at Myriad Arrows and his hand clenched the sword harder.
"Time to go ogre hunting."
His body disappeared again, and this time, he appeared in the middle once again. The ogre in the middle stood up again, and it sluggishly tried to respond to the new intruder.
But that was to no avail.
These three ogres weren't supposed to be hard to avoid. They had almost not offensive capabilities. All they did was create a blockade while the other ogres did the rest of the work.
But with the others at bay, Jake and Myriad Arrows could have a field day here.
"I'll take care of the one in the middle. You finish off the one in the left. The right one will try to attack me, so just leave it be." Jake told Myriad Arrows as his sword struck the ogre's.
The ogre's sword was a few dozen times bigger than Jake's, and yet when the two made contact, it was not Jake's sword that took the backstop.
The ogre grunted as it stepped back after the confrontation and Jake jumped up to avoid an attack from the right.
"You… you should stay away from the fight for a while." He looked to the side and jumped at the ogre on the right.
His sword shone once again as he activated his signature move.
"Slash of Hunger!"
His sword shone with a golden glow. Sparks of golden lightning covered it as Jake jumped in the air, slamming down the sword into his sluggish opponent.
Slam!
[Critical Hit!]
The green health bar of the monster immediately slid into a disappointed yellow.
"Good. Stay on the ground for a bit while I take care of your friend." He chuckled as he jumped up once again.
The ogre in the middle was a tad bit taller than the other two, and Jake knew that it was going to be stronger.
And of course, it just had to be in the middle, leading the other two. If this ogre fell, then it would be much easier dealing with the other two.
"Slash of Thirst!"
Jake ran down the side, sliding by the ogre's boots and appeared behind it. He jumped up, carefully aiming at the back of the ogre's neck. There were few gaps in the armor that these monsters wore, but striking them was crucial.
Jake didn't want to sit there for hours, whittling down the giant health bar that these monsters had. That would defeat the purpose of him being here.
His sword of blue lighting went down into the gap. It didn't stop at the green, slimy skin underneath, but kept digging deeper before it skid to a halt a few inches in.
Jake's smile widened as he jumped up, letting go of the sword.
Without the sword, he was able to escape the giant swat of the ogre.
"Roar!"
The ogre roared with anger as it plunged the sword inside it deeper into its neck.
[Critical Hit!]
Jake saw the health bar slid into a dangerous red and jumped up right in front of the ogre.
He didn't move, and had no weapon in his hands. The Ogre didn't let this go and it brought its sword slamming down into the puny insect that almost killed it.
"Reflect!"
Jake's armor shone as the ogre's sword made contact with it. Jake fell to the ground, and in his hands, his sword reappeared.
[You have leveled up]
