Chapter 450
Lin Feilu asked, “Were you all waiting for me?”
Sun Jiang laughed respectfully, “Yes, His Majesty ordered the servants to wait here to send Your Highness back to the palace.”
The journey back was long, so it would be very comfortable to be seated throughout the entire way back. Lin Feilu got on the sedan chair as the group commenced the return. She propped her chin on the side of the chair and turned to Sun Jiang, “Is His Majesty finished with the court matters?”
Sun Jiang replied, “Not yet, I’m afraid I will be busy until noon. Does the Princess want to go to the Lin An Palace for dinner or return to Yong An Palace?”
She thought briefly before answering, “Let’s go to the Lin An Palace. I will have lunch together with His Majesty when he returns.”
She got up too early today, so she started to feel slightly tired not long after roaming around the Lin An Palace. After dismissing the servants from the bedroom, she climbed onto Song Jinglan’s dragon bed to catch up on some sleep.
The dragon bed was no different from her own bed upon sleeping on it, aside from the fact that a large luminous pearl(1) was embedded on the top of the bed frame. With the pearl as a focal point, a large and gorgeous curtain hung around it, which significantly affected keeping bugs away at night.
(T/N: A large, jade coloured pearl that glows in the dark. It actually existed, even though I don’t know the science behind it)
Wrapped in a thin brocade quilt, she rolled around several times on the big, soft bed before finally turning over and falling asleep.
The morning court was put on hold for many days, didn’t end until noon. After Song Jinglan dealt with the accumulated government affairs, he also announced to the court regarding the matter of his wedding. With the death stare that the Ministry of Rites experienced yesterday, no one in the court raised doubts as they all congratulated His Majesty.
After the court was over, Song Jinglan returned to Lin An Palace, where some incense was burning as the place was enveloped in the sense of serenity and quietness.
Sun Jiang asked in a low voice, “Your Majesty, the Princess is fast asleep inside the room. Should I still ask for the meal?”
Song Jinglan walked in, “Yes.”
No one else was in the bedroom since Lin Feilu didn’t like to be guarded when she was sleeping. The wide curtain hung down from the top, spreading its reach as it draped over the ground. The only sound in the quiet room was the constant, shallow breathing.
Song Jinglan approached her slowly, lifting the curtain with one finger.
The girl on the bed was lying on her side and faced towards him as she slept soundly. Perhaps due to the fact that she was too hot, she hadn’t bothered to cover herself with the quilt. She was only wearing a single-layered unlined garment that was slightly loose on her neckline, revealing her fair collarbone.
Song Jinglan squinted his eyes and let go of his fingers. The curtain then hung down again, completely separating him from the girl on the bed.
Lin Feilu didn’t know how long she had slept, but when she stretched her hand in a half-asleep state of mind, it came in contact with a chest.
Her eyes were still closed, but she reluctantly explored the surface with which her hand came in contact. When she got to his lower abdomen, a hand pinched her wrist lightly. Upon opening her eyes, she saw Song Jinglan lying on his side, his head resting on his elbows, and donning a warm smile.
