Chapter 313Quake [2]
Ren's plan was simple.
Simply checking everyone's last corner and place within the vault wouldn't work, as the figure could move around.
He had to hit every place at once.
And what better way to do that than by causing an all-out fight?
Spell-blasting everywhere, spears flying around him, sword slashes, and other various weapons all swinging.
And, the main cast would be conscious of their attacks and avoid destroying too many artifacts and weakening the seal, so Ren wouldn't have to worry about the mythical beast escaping.
There was no way that the intruder would be able to dodge every single one of those attacks.
He would have to be hit at least once.
And when that happened, as he became visible again due to taking damage, Ren would be there...ready to reap.
Of course, there was one requirement for that plan.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Ren had to survive until then.
There was also the possibility that the intruder used all the chaos and distraction to slowly destroy artifacts and weaken the seal.
But, thankfully, Ruby would be keeping watch when he couldn't, making sure that wouldn't happen.
Unbeknownst to Ren, though, two figures were letting out deep sighs while staring at him hanging from the ceiling.
Shaking her head with an exhausted expression, Alya turned to Lily in the circle-like formation before muttering.
"Let me get this straight. Ren and Ruby left the vault to search. Then, Ruby comes back alone with nothing to show. Finally, coincidentally, this 'INTRUDER' happens to show up right as Ruby comes back without Ren."
"And to top it all off, Ren sent whatever that clone was to ask you a question, clearly indicating that he had a plan ready."
Nodding her head with a sigh, Lily responded.
"Yeah...it's probably him. But it... there's also a chance that everything you said was a coincidence, and the person we're looking at is the intruder we've been searching for."
Almost dropping her sword to the floor, Alya stared at Lily with an emotionless expression before finally asking.
"Are you serious?"
Unable to keep a straight expression on her face, Lily held in a cough before saying.
"...no, it's definitely him."
"...so we're just going along with whatever his plan is."
Pointing at Liam, Kazuki, Kaneki, and Kevin at the front of the group, Lily replied
"Unless you want to convince them that Ren isn't really our enemy and an ally trying to help us out."
Recalling Liam's rants about Ren and Kevin's constant training after his defeat in the carriage, Alya sighed before nodding her head.
"I see...but are we really going to att-"
Before Alya could finish her sentence, Lily pointed her wand right at Ren's figure on the ceiling.
Within a moment, a giant and merciless stream of water was heading straight at Ren's current position.
Looking at Alya while still maintaining the stream of water, Lily shrugged her shoulders before saying.
"If he's asking for it, we might as well."
Still hesitant, Alya sighed before gripping her sword and slowly bringing it forward.
Back on the ceiling, Ren kept his eyes peeled, glancing at every part of the room to check if the intruder had been hit yet.
Seeing a giant beam of water heading at him, accompanied by a few sword slashes, Ren quickly dodged to the side.
Below him, Kaneki smiled before slowly raising his pitch-black katana.
Then, the next second, Kaneki swiftly plunged the sword into the vaulted ground without any mercy.
"Release."
At the spot where Kaneki's sword was plunged into the vaulted ground, over seven beams of pitch-darkness appeared.
Phasing through the ground, the massive beams, as wide as three Rens and seemingly infinitely long, soared up in unison, all heading for Ren.
As Ren moved farther away from Kaneki, attempting to dodge the beams, they only got longer and faster.
Some of them even had... intelligence.
The pitch-black beams were working together like a fully functioning human team.
While some of the beams were heading at Ren without any care for anything else, the orders were concisely moving, preemptively blocking Ren's escape routes.
Added to that, Kazuki mounted his flying spear and perfectly weaved between the black beams.
Next to Kazuki on the spear was Kevin, who was standing and swinging his sword, constantly sending a barrage of blood-red sword slashes.
And under the two of them was Liam, who had manifested a pillar of light-blue divine energy in the middle of the room.
And like a turret, Liam was predicting my next moves while swinging his sword, making sure I couldn't come too close, keeping me confined to the corner of the vault.
"...yeah I'm fucked."
Even Ren knew when to give up.
"AHHH, I'M ALL WET NOW, ZENG YOU IDIOT!"
Hearing a familiar childish voice, Ren glanced downwards, immediately spotting three figures in the corner of the room below him, blocked off by a bunch of shelves.
"..?"
There was one figure next to Raven and Zeng, who Ren could not recognize or recall no matter how hard he looked.
Drenched in the water, the figure had a pitch-black fedora on, blocking his face from view, and a purple tie.
Water was dripping down from his fedora as he stood completely still with his back facing Raven and Zeng, who were shivering from coldness behind him.
His hands were empty, and he had no weapons on any part of his body.
He was completely defenseless.
Seeing a sword slash and pitch-black beam headed straight for him, Ren didn't hesitate to yell.
"RAVEN, ZENG, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GET HIM!"
The figure was inside the barricade of shelves that Raven and Zeng had made.

"Those cowards...they made the perfect trap!"
Hearing Ren's frantic voice, Lily and Alya immediately turned around to face the barricade, spotting the intruder easily.
However...that didn't stop the black beam from getting closer to Ren.
And, his high-pitched scream was not recognized by anyone besides the Ruby, Raven, Lily, Zeng, and Alya.
