Chapter 336: On the Journey
"Those are the helicopters." Kyle pointed to the two helicopters. "Now, excuse me, I need to prepare a bit."
Kyle entered one of the helicopter with Lotte and Jake behind him.
"Do you not try getting any license when you’re in the military?" Lotte asked Jake quietly.
Jake glanced at Lotte and smiled bitterly. "Lotte, I’m not capable enough to pass the exams…"
Even if he wanted to get the license… it was another problem whether he could end up flying the helicopter or dropping all of them to the ground.
Lotte was silent for a while and nodded in understanding.
It seemed that she really couldn’t place her hope in this matter to him.
Whirl!
As the helicopter ascended to the ground, Kate looked outside the window. This was the first time for her to take a helicopter and being able to see the surrounding scenery, she felt amazed from the bottom of her heart.
From this height, she was able to see almost the entirety of City E.
City E had several expansions due to the rapid increase of population for the past year. Those who managed to survive the attacks of these giant mutated animals rushed towards the existing cities nearby.
One of them was City E.
With the increase of population, they also tried their best to increase the size of the city so that it would be habitable for many people.
<It’s beautiful> Kate murmured inside her mind.
Kyle glanced outside. Unlike Kate who didn’t have much interest with the outside world if it didn’t involve some specific matters, he still paid special attention to the country’s development.
It would be impossible for him to know everything, but he knew the few things that happened around them.
This included the roads built around City E that connected it to various other cities that had been rebuilt. In a way, humans’ civilization was already showing sign of recovery and things would get better in the future.
<It’s indeed very beautiful,> Kyle replied in his mind.
There were still two people behind and there was no need for them to show this conversation to others.
Kate meowed lightly without saying anything as she watched the helicopter left city E’s area. They moved towards the East at relatively fast speed.
From what Kyle said, they would have to stop in the middle because the helicopter fuel wouldn’t be enough to bring them directly to the beach where they would ride on the ship. At the same time, the pilot would be too tired to drive for the entire day.
After City E, Kate could see some ruins and also the repaired road.
There were still some places that hadn’t been cleaned up yet, but from above, it could be seen that everything was going towards the better direction.
There was destruction.
And after destruction, there was rebuilt.
As long as there was still hope, people would walk towards that speck of light, doing their best for their future.
Whether they knew it exist or not didn’t matter as long as they tried to their best.
<Do you think it’s possible for the world to be the same as it used to be again?> Kate asked.
Kyle arched his eyebrows. He looked outside as he controlled the helicopter delicately. <Perhaps not completely the same but the tradition that built us from the past shouldn’t disappear completely unless it’s purposely forgotten and no longer practiced. That way, our lives might still be similar to the way it used to be.>
<Mhm> Kate meowed again.
She looked at the world outside. Putting aside the ruins, the rest looked very beautiful. So beautiful that Kate would feel heartache should another catastrophe started again.
At this moment, she wished that she could protect this beautiful world.
This world is not perfect.
There were many bad things that happened from time to time.
But the earth itself is very beautiful and worth protecting. For their own sake, for the sake of their families, and for the sake of those others who would continue to live.
Kate closed her eyes and laid on the chair, resting.
Kyle glanced at Kate and didn’t say anything more. Seeing the world from this distance truly looked different, making one thought more of the beautiful world.
…
*Yawn*
On the back, Jake looked at the two in front of him suspiciously. Hearing Kate meowing from time to time, he guessed that these two were definitely communicating inside their mind.
That blood contract was truly both convenient and inconvenient.
"Lotte."
"Yes?" Lotte was also looking outside with interest. She had already flown with plane a few times in the past for her journey. At that time, she always looked outside the window to watch the world with curiosity.
For her, it was amazing to see the world from different perspective like this.
"Do you think it’s possible to form a blood contract between a human and a half?"
Lotte paused.
She turned around, looking at the man in front of her speechlessly. "Don’t you dare mention that ever again."
Tying one life with other was not a joke. And with the way Jake usually behaved, Lotte wouldn’t want to bet on it.
"The marriage contract alone is enough." Lotte snorted.
Jake could feel the anger emanating from Lotte’s body and wisely shut his mouth. It seemed that he should never mention this matter in front of Lotte again in his life if he wanted to stay alive.
He hurriedly turned to look outside the window.
"Hmph." Lotte snorted.
She turned to look outside once more, wondering how the world would actually end up in the future.
At the same time, she was also anticipating the time when the airport could be rebuilt and plane could fly again. She wanted to travel between cities and have fun as much as possible.
This was her dream ever since she was young.
After these giant mutated animals appeared, the surface of the world was no longer the same, but Lotte still wished to be able to pay a visit.
