The current degree of faith was 3. It was a huge relief to have it above 0. However, considering that I hugged, shook hands, and spoke comforting words to people all day long... I felt that it was a little low. Had I come off too pretentious?

First of all, I decided to fill in the shortcomings one by one. The first thing I chose was the symbol of the sect.

“I choose you.” Since I didn’t know how to get the system to recognize my choice, I just decided to imitate Pok*mon lines.

“Kea-ek!”

[The sect symbol has been added.]

(T/N: [1] half frog, half dog supposedly means Gaguri)

[A new item has been added to the sect’s symbol.]

The frog’s name was Gaguri? Since it had a dog’s body and a frog’s head, I supposed the name suited it quite well, albeit a little unoriginal.

Gaguri (1) –

Description: A newcomer to a sect whose name has not yet been determined. Believers have yet to recognize the presence of this deity. It has nothing to do with the God of the Sky or the origin of the sect. It has no divine power at all, and only possesses a small amount of mana. With its innate high vitality, it has no problem protecting its believers, although the lack of appeal may scare off young followers.

Believers may not feel awed because it lacks a mysterious aura. It’s advised to grant new abilities and accessories to new members.

Luckily, a detailed explanation was also provided. I found it to be a possibility that the explanations were provided by the apostles of the God of the Sky. As far as I knew, detailed reports didn’t typically appear in windows.

“Kea-ek!”

“Hold on.” I held the frog and viewed it from various angles like a photographer.

What was lacking at the moment was the shortage of recognition from the frog’s believers, connection with God, divine power, magic charm, and mystique. To summarize it all, the frog simply lacked in everything.

It would be useful to make it look a little cooler. How should I dress it up?

I quickly bought a pair of magic wings from the store window. The pair of angelic, white wings then automatically attached itself to the frog’s body.

“Kea-ek!” Surprisingly enough, the wings had somehow fit on the frog’s back.

“You look... quite mysterious.”

It had the head of a frog, the body of a dog, and now, also had wings attached on its back. Tell me, where else could you find such a mysterious creature?

“Aren’t I right??”

[How mysterious, it looks as if it escaped from a lab somewhere.]

What laboratory? You’re too harsh on our poor frog! You’re just jealous because he looks better than you.

“Kea-ek!”

Now, the other lacking details of our sect needed to be filled in. I suppose attractiveness and mystique could be solved with the frog, but how was I supposed to cover knowledge and magic? Above all, the required connection with God seemed impossible.

[Please make me a symbol too.]

“You’re planning to use a flying handkerchief as a symbol?”

[Why not? You can make your handkerchief something more valuable.]

A handkerchief as a religious symbol?

[It’s not just a handkerchief, it can fly, has magic, can talk, and it’s cute!]

The last two stated were not advantages but disadvantages.

[C’mon. Do it for me.]

I considered the possibility of shoving Ahbooboo back in my inventory since he kept complaining. However, he could still be useful at this stage.

“Oh. I got an idea.”

[What?]

I purchased a small, luxurious cloth from the shop window and untied the handkerchief from Abu’s core bead. I then attached his bead to the newly bought fabric and knotted it around the frog’s neck.

“Done.”

[What’s this?]

Species name: Unknown

The Founder of the Sect: Unknown

Sect Symbols: Gaguri(1), new (1) – Gaguri’s Necklace of Aubutz

Sectarian Tendencies : –

Sect Doctrine Existence:

Number of Believers: 890

Headquarter Position: Unknown

Degree of Faith: 3

Mainstream Religion: Church of the Sky

Gaguri(1) –

Description: A newcomer to a sect whose name has not yet been determined. Believers have yet to recognize the presence of this deity. It holds the core of the Aubutz, the sacred sword of the God of the Sky. It also harbors powerful divine power and possesses a great deal of mana. Its combat power is so strong that it has no problems in defending its followers. Although its attractiveness is mediocre, it has a mysterious element, and young believers may find it funny.

The frog greatly satisfied the required conditions, it fulfilled the requirements to be a new member of the sect.

“Perfect.” Ah, what am I saying? I feel like a fool!

[Perfect]

“Seregia thinks it’s perfect too.”

Well, it turned out better than I thought. The wings fluttered behind the cute frog, and a colorful cloth hung on its neck like a muffler. Since the frog was unable to communicate with people, Ahbooboo would easily fill that role.

[If it looks this funny, it would become counterproductive instead.]

Ahbooboo’s words made sense. However, since the main sect symbol was a frog, then a dignified and oppressive frog deity would be more counterintuitive. This was the best I could do for now.

* * * * * *

I called everyone back to the first floor and instructed them of the doctrines I’d set with Ahbooboo. The doctrines were a combination of doctrines from other lower sects. And surprisingly, the core belief of the religion was universal equality. The use of such principles in a feudal society such as the Empire seemed quite contradictory.

[It’s mixed with the doctrines of other lower sects. The empire interpreted it a little differently. Under the God of the Sky, there’s an emperor, the guardian, the first believer of the sect, and finally, the rest of the believers. Of course, the God of the Sky wasn’t very pleased with this interpretation.]

Ahbooboo’s explanation hinted that the God of the Sky disapproved of the emperor.

Next, we narrated the basic rules of the sect; there was nothing special about them. Most of the rules stated were pretty standard rules that would be normally followed by religious and good people.

Ahbooboo insisted on putting in some tricky, hard-to-follow rule, but I turned him down. I didn’t want to create a law that would force me to eat vegetables, pray until my muscles were aching all over, or walk on my hands.

Some sect-specific rules included the designation of the first floor of the pagoda as a cathedral, the second and third floors were designated as a shrine for believers, the fourth floor was the lodging for senior believers, and the fifth was for exclusive accommodation. The senior believers had yet to be selected, and Ahbooboo decided that they would pick some at a later time.

“Who is that frog, apostle?” a little boy asked with his hand raised up. The child, whose eyes fell on the comical figure, couldn’t hold his curiosity back.

“It’s our sect’s symbol.”

The children looked at the frog with sparkling eyes while the adults gave it a curious glance.

“Kea-ek!”

“It is my spokesman and our sect’s symbol. If you have any trouble in the future, tell the frog and ask for its advice. The frog will solve the problem.”

In other words, Ahbooboo would step forward and resolve the problem.

After leaving the frog and Ahbooboo on the first floor, I came up to the fifth floor. It was still an empty floor for now, so I took out a tent and some camping materials from my inventory again.

I quietly ate and laid down in my sleeping bag, lamenting. Ah... my faith wasn’t increasing at all. How annoying.

[Faith Window]

Species Name: Unknown

The Founder of the Sect: Lee Ho-jae

Sect Symbols: Gaguri(1), New (1) – Gaguri’s Necklace of Aubutz

Sectarian Tendencies: Faithfulness is unstable; has ups and downs.

Sect Doctrine Existence:

Number of Believers: 890

Headquarter Position: Ierai Planetary 3rd Fault Tower.

Degree of Faith: 17

Mainstream Religion: God of the Sky

Although the doctrines and symbols had been set, there were only 14 people, excluding Ahbooboo, the frog, and I, who had actually believed in the religion. It was hard to predict when the faith count would be able to reach 500. Maybe it was because we hadn’t decided on a sect name yet? I already asked Ahbooboo to think about the sect name.

[The Faithfulness window has been updated.]

[Name of Sect: Aubutz]

I couldn’t believe it. This guy... he actually named the sect Aubutz. Oh well, since I couldn’t think of another name, I decided to leave it as it was.

I rechecked my faith.

[ Faith ]

[Degree of Faith: 19]

2... it only increased by 2.

Even if I assume that I can raise my faith by about 10 points every day, it’ll still take about 50 days to clear this stage. And there was no guarantee that the faith would continue to rise like I predicted, so it may take even longer. Should I have to increase the number of believers? 900 is already quite a large number, however, when compared to other sects, it’s still quite small.

Too bad you can’t kidnap believers... It wasn’t like I could wait for the believers to get married, have children, and then grow up to add to the believer count. That’d take too long.

I wished something significant would happen! As expected, the most effective solution was to use monsters to impress people.

The people on the lower floor of the tower are certainly well-composed. Despite having monster attacks every night, they would still dutifully drive them off. Now that I appeared to protect them, that problem has been solved. Maybe that’s the only role the believers want me to play; to be just a guard, or a gatekeeper.

However, I can’t run away from my responsibilities. If I do, faith will only fall. I could simply protect only the people I liked, and push others into danger, force people to believe me, and turn them into crazy fanatics. However, I didn’t want to do that. It would simply be blackmail, it wouldn’t be a religion anymore.

[God of Hope watches you.]

Yeah, my thoughts were right.

[Warrior, the messenger has jumped in.] Ahbooboo alerted me.

[Really? You saw it?]

[Yes, it looks like a tower was built on a hill a little bit away from here, a messenger was placed there.]

As expected, people could still thrive even without sects. Therefore, it was inevitable that their dependence on them would decrease.

[Monsters are flocking to the tower. It happens every evening. We just have to keep the door shut, what should we do?]

“I’m going down.”

What do you mean “Just keep the door shut?”, this was my only opportunity to impress my believers and collect some faith! Of course I have to make good use of this opportunity.
