The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 588: No, no, flirting.

588 No, no, flirting.

"Allegedly, Miss." When Lexi corrected, she didn't wait for the woman to recover as she began entering the venue.

She was amused that the woman was a daredevil. Both knew the risk of asking the question not using cautionary words.

After all, Ethan Lu was a powerful tycoon. Therefore, he could sue the woman and press charges to her home network.

Lexi merely shut her down by those two words. She would be a hypocrite if she said it was for the woman's sake. But, as a warning for pressing on the matter with misleading words.

Because of the woman, Lexi gradually felt the sense of being confident in front of the cameras. She could still play words and pick up the things she usually does in the past.

However, just as Lexi was on the entrance, she heard another loud uproar behind her. Turning to see who could it be out of curiosity, Lexi stopped her brows from arching seeing the elegant and noble-looking Laurel Wang.

'So, she came.' Lexi thought inwardly before she turned and continued her way to inside. Despite knowing why Laurel Wang took quite the attention, Lexi was uninterested with whatever statement Laurel Wang would say.

When Lexi made her entrance in the hall, as expected, a glamorous setting welcomed her. Tycoons from different fields, famous celebrities, and almost everyone from the upper echelon were present.

Although Lexi was already a businesswoman of her own company, the vibes from the businessmen and women gave off a different aura. For some reason, Lexi felt like a small time business owner as she stared at the group of men not far away from her.

Sure, Lexi has wealth but she knew, deep down, her wealth couldn't compare to these people. For a moment, Lexi forgot that her husband was one of the wealthiest and the most influential tycoons.

She didn't even think that the men she was admiring now was currying favor from Ethan Lu.

No one could blame her though. Ethan Lu was like a clingy bundle of sweetness — completely the opposite to these people. It was one of the reason why Lexi fell for him.

Ethan Lu was a warm and gentle person. He had changed himself for her and helped her mature to a woman she is today.

While the businessmen she was admiring now were like Morris Liu. Intimidating.

"Miss Yang! You came!" Suddenly, Lexi heard Diane Huang's voice coming from her side. Turning to face her, Lexi smiled as she watched the gorgeous lady in a champagne dress approached.

"How can I not?" When Diane Huang stopped in front of her, Lexi said. "Happy birthday, Miss Huang."

"Oh dear, why do you sound so formal? Sister Diane — we're friends, remember?" Sounding friendly as usual, Diane Huang corrected as she forgot to clear this with Lexi the last time.

What a poor, deeply in loved man.

"I — Yes, my pleasure of being your friend." Lexi was about to say something but chose to accept this new friendship that was shoved to her.

It was not like she didn't like Diane Huang. But, Lexi was certain that she was only being friendly because of Ethan Lu. Little did she know, Lexi was Diane's type.

"Anyway, come on since your date is not here yet — I'll introduce you to people." Pleased that Lexi was understanding, Diane Huang linked arms with her as she dragged Lexi to a certain direction.

Since it was Diane Huang's party, she almost knew everyone. Hence, as she dragged Lexi somewhere, they were greeted by some guest. It was evident in their eyes that they were baffled why Lexi was being treated differently by her.

"Hey~" Reaching a certain cluster of men, Diane Huang approached while Lexi stared at each and everyone of them.

Lexi recognized some of them, as these people excelled in their fields. Business magnate that were beyond her reach, some young remarkable politicians, and professionals that were famous due to their achievements.

If Lexi admired a group of businessmen earlier, these group were people she should worship. Their aura was completely different from the rest; as if pure-blooded royal vampires in a vampire movies, or a group of noble princes that a peasant could not afford to stain their shoes.

"Diane, happy birthday!" Meanwhile, when Diane and Lexi reached the group, they turned to the two gorgeous ladies, and one of them exclaimed.

"Thank you," Smiling back, Diane Huang winked as she saw the men shifted their gaze on the beauty next to her.

By the looks of it, some of them didn't recognize Lexi despite being an actress in the past. Some showed interest as they discreetly sized Lexi from her to toe.

"This is Lexi, Lexi Yang my new friend. She's the owner of Beauty DR." Seeing their reaction as they first studied Lexi, Diane Huang rolled her eyes before she introduced Lexi.

"Pleasure to meet you." Lexi slightly bowed her head as a greeting despite their sudden silence. Lexi didn't have the leisure to think what they had in mind currently as she wanted to leave a good impression on these remarkable people.

"Beauty DR? It's yours?" As Lexi raised her head, one of the men in suit smiled as he tilted his head to the side. The small mole on the outer corner of his eye highlighted his sharp eyes and thick, fleek brows.

When Lexi met his eyes, she smiled as an answer.

"My ex used that product — all those pink sets." The man added which made them chuckle. "Well, now I know why it was called Beauty DR; the owner is a beauty, indeed." As they chuckle, the man added as his thin lips curled to the side.

"No, no, flirting Zack." Cringing, Diane Huang raised her forefinger as she shook it sideways. Yet, Diane Huang was the only person who didn't like the joke... rather, she was the only person in that circle that showed disapproval about his sudden advances.

Lexi just chose to ignore it as she took it as a joke. Still, she appreciated that Diane Huang spoke her mind.
