Despite the familiar voice, she just sounded like a stranger to Meng Xingzhou.

He clenched his fists and his face was livid.

He had heard a little about the news on Sheng Yize and An Xiaxia in the past few days, but never had he expected that it was Lan Yu’s doing!

Lan Yu gave a few more instructions, which was all about how to keep the news in the headlines.

All in all, she was determined to see Sheng Yize and An Xiaxia suffer.

When she opened the bathroom door, there was still a smile on her face, which froze as soon as she spotted Meng Xingzhou.

However, she had always been a good actress. Putting on a smile again, she asked, “Xingzhou, why are you up here?”

Meng Xingzhou remained silent and kept his gaze on her, as if he was examining her.

Lan Yu’s heart sank. “How long have you been up here?”

Had he... heard what she said?

“I just got here.” Meng Xingzhou forced a smile. “Come, let’s go home.”

He and Lan Yu had a place of their own.

Lan Yu lowered her gaze. “But we were still eating.”

“No, we’re not. I’m sorry for putting you on the spot all the time.” Rubbing his forehead, Meng Xingzhou took her hand, said goodbye to his parents, then left.

Meng Xingzhou spoke very little on their way back, which made Lan Yu wonder.

“Xingzhou, what’s wrong?”

Meng Xingzhou hit the brakes at a traffic light.

The look in his dark pupils was indecipherable.

“I was just thinking. Do all people change? Or... am I only seeing what a person wants me to see?”

Lan Yu smirked. “Everyone wears masks nowadays.”

Meng Xingzhou turned to look at her. “What about you, Xiaoyu? Do you wear masks?”

Lubdub, lubdub —

Lan Yu’s heart raced.

The car behind them began to honk and Meng Xingzhou turned back to look straight ahead, driving steadily past that intersection.

A couple of minutes later, Lan Yu said frankly, “I do.”

Meng Xingzhou smiled bitterly.

“The news about Yize and Xiaxia, was it your doing?”

So, he had heard.

Lan Yu took a deep breath and didn’t try to keep it from him. “Yes, I leaked the news.”

Blue veins popped up on the back of Meng Xingzhou’s hands as he said in vexation, “Why did you do it? Xiaoyu, you know perfectly well that he’s my nephew!”

“Heh.” Lan Yu gave him an alluring smile. “Meng Xingzhou, you think too highly of yourself. Officially, I’m still nothing to you. He’s your nephew, but not mine. Why can’t I do it?”

Meng Xingzhou pulled over to the side of the road and looked at Lan Yu in disbelief.

“I thought there was only ‘we’ and ‘ours’ now.”

“You never gave us the chance to become ‘we,’” said Lan Yu calmly. She then opened the door and left.

An Xiaxia was still half-asleep when she heard Sheng Yize murmur something in her ear. She only picked up some words like “reporter” and “interview.”

“Hm...” Wrapping her duvet tighter around herself, she didn’t want to get up.

Sheng Yize chuckled. “Well, it’s only a little past five. Go back to sleep.”

He straightened his clothes in front of the mirror to make sure everything looked perfect, then left the room.

A famous reporter was already waiting for him in the suite next door.

The female reporter was exhilarated to see Sheng Yize. “Captain Yize.... I mean, Mr. Sheng, we never expected that you would agree to do the interview! I’m a big fan...”

“Thank you.” Sheng Yize nodded politely. “May we start now?”
