Chapter 127: [Creating a Settlement II!]
I looked at the area around me, saving its features in my memory.
From the looks, it looked like an elven city of the forest, with mechanical intermixing here and there. There were ideas to incorporate various stores in between that would entangle the players while also a dozen of multi-storied apartments that were lined together in the settlement.
Even though it was multistoried, there were connecting bridges between each floor, creating a layered appearance of the entire city. The trees that stretched from one edge to another added another layer of beauty to the settlement, though they were merely there to provide space for further development of the settlement when expansion was needed.
And for now, this entire settlement can hold more than a 1000 players easily.
"All right. Since the basics are done, let's start with the construction," I mumbled as I started with the Town Center first.
The central building was the first to be constructed. After talking for about an hour with Nora about how the Town Center should look, we reached a conclusion that the number of layers of the city, that is 4 for now, should reflect the number of upper floors that the Town Center should have.
So, it was going to be a 4 storied building with a large hall, with multiple facilities in it. Since it was going to hold the rift at its center, we decided to seal the entrance for the time being. The reason was simple. The players can use the teleportation circles on the outside to move from one side to another. As for the rift itself, it was going to be under heavy protection from various invaders that could potentially harm the rift.
Hence, the ground floor of the town center was going to be locked under various spells and stuff. The only one who could have access to it, would be me, the only one who can manage the rift.
"All right. Here goes nothing," I then began to create a cuboid shaped wall that covered the entire rift from all sides. The shape of the cubois was in alignment with the upper floors, covering the length of 100, breadth of 50 and a height of 40 meters respectively.
As for the Energy Cost.
[20,000/32,000!]
It was still a lot.
With my current Energy Regeneration, I could regenerate about 100 Energy per second, but since my maximum was 32,000, I can't create large structures at once.
Before moving on to create the next target, I first enhanced the defense of the wall by spending about 500 million GM points on it. Since the sole focus was on defense, reflection and regeneration, I was able to create an SS-Grade Barrier that surrounded the cuboid building.
And with that done, I then moved to create mud around the town center that covered about a 100 meters more around the cuboid. In a way, including the cuboid base, the entire floor of the town center was 500 meters in diameter with the rift at its center.
The flooring was made up of wood, as I created everything slowly, focusing on minute details, before moving to create pillars for the walls at the corner. Outside of what would be the walls, there was a circular stream of water that flowed around the town center. I was planning to have a few fishes swim in it.
There were 4 stairways that stretched in 4 directions, stemming from the center, each connected to a road that directly reached the 4 entrances of the city. At the sides that were uncovered within the town center, there would be lifts that would serve as a medium to move between the floors, about 4 on each side, totalling 16 within the town center and many more around the city.
The areas in between the wall and the exterior, would be filled with a lush of green, having various aesthetically visible plants and trees that had the special properties of creating a relaxing aroma, allowing the guests to relax as soon as they enter the town center.
Within the town center, the 3 floors would contain the adventurers guild, the Council hall and a room for my own personal use, respectively.
There will be a symmetry of houses, shops and a bunch more, each properly connected with each other on every layer of the city, creating a complex yet properly functioning city for the people to stay at.
The symmetry will only increase as the settlement develops further, with the creation of more buildings like industrial complexes, training halls, independent adventurer's guild etc.
I created everything one by one without much difficulty. Even though I was losing energy pretty much rapidly, I was able to restore it within minutes in between. Since I wasn't in a hurry, I also spared some moments to look at how the other people I have contracted with, are doing right now.
"Not bad."
And much to my delight, most of them were doing rather well right now. With their new found powers, they were able to rebuild their status and increase their powers as much as they could. Watching them grow somehow made me proud of myself.
Time passed as I kept building the entire town center myself. I kept in check with my friends as well, and they were faring well. I told them to wait in the city as I had an 'insider information' that a teleportation circle was going to be formed soon, so they don't need to travel at all. And thus, they decided to wait within the city, doing their own things while at it.
My eyes then rechecked my contractees and I chuckled at their ways of doing things. It was like watching an anime, but just in real life, real people. Kind of fun, not gonna lie.
A smile formed on my face as I looked at each of them, before my eyes reached a certain individual who was struck on something unfortunate. Thinking if I should help him out or not, I first decided to wait and watch how he was going to get out of the situation he was in.
