The Blue Eyes

Chapter 242 - CALEB AND CHARLIE

The silver sedan had stopped in front of the house, and the sedan's owner had turned off the car engine. However, she was still frozen behind the wheel and didn't immediately open the door of the car.

Why did she meet Kevin today? She only planned to observe the situation from afar, but why did she end up stopping her car in front of the orphanage gate?

She was a rational person who wouldn't do anything based on her impulsiveness. She was a systematic person who would only do something based on her meticulous plan, and what she did in the orphanage earlier was not included in her plan.

She was Grace Hasler, someone who wouldn't easily waver with her plan, but she suddenly doubted in her heart.

She had met Kevin and talked with him, and had been revealing some secrets to the young scientist in the end. That was not her plan, but she ended up telling some truth to the young scientist.

Yeah, only some truth because she was still hiding a lot of truths that surely would cause chaos once she revealed it.

She was lost in her mind, but then she caught a glimpse of a small kid running toward her silver car. A small smile grazed the owner of Grace's name. The kid was her son, the one who managed to bring a smile to her stoic face.

Grace took a deep breath before opening the car door, and she immediately got ambushed by the 2-year-old kid named Charlie Hasler.

"Mommy!" The kid hugged her legs tightly, and Grace bent down to scoop the kid's body and brought him close to her chest.

"Why are you here instead of waiting for me inside the house, Charie? You can't wait to see your mommy?" Grace questioned the kid as she smooched the kid's chubby cheek.

The kid's appearance resembled her. He had fair skin and short auburn hair like her, and even his eyes looked like hers a lot. The only parts that resembled his father were only the lips and the nose.

"He has been waiting for you to come out of the car for twenty minutes, but he knew that you wouldn't come out if he didn't pick you up here. That's why he asked me to open the door and immediately ran toward you, darling."

Another voice greeted her sense of hearing, and Grace turned her head to find her husband, Caleb Hasler, walking toward her and her son.

The man was the one who had given her Hasler's last name and made her leave the Ford last name given by her adoptive parents. She married the man three years ago, and they finally got a kid who completed their life two years ago.

Their life was indeed completed, but sometimes Grace still felt that her life was empty. That emptiness always came back to her whenever she reminisced the past.

"Let's go inside because it's already late," Caleb suddenly suggested before guiding his wife to head to their house.

Grace flashed a small smile at her husband as she let her husband guide her to the house. Charlie was still in her embrace, and the kid grinned happily when his parents were finally with him.

Upon arriving inside the house, Caleb immediately closed the door and took over the kid from the mother's embrace. "You better have some warm bath, darling. You've been away since morning, and I'm sure you will need one."

Caleb was always an understanding husband for her. She didn't talk much at home, and sometimes she even treated her husband coldly. Fortunately, her husband never mind her cold attitude and just let her do what she wanted to do.

Grace admitted that she wasn't a good person, but she was so thankful to have a good husband to accompany her lonely life.

Charlie was struggling in his father's arms, and Grace caressed the boy's head for a moment. "Mommy will play with you later after taking a quick shower. Now you play with daddy and wait for mommy, alright?" She tried to coax the cute boy.

Charlie was still so little, but he was quite smart. He could run around the house bravely, and he could also speak to his parents with his cute accent.

"Mommy promise me to play later?" The cute kid questioned his mother.

Charlie was able to speak first before he managed to walk with his two legs, so his words were quite clear and vivid in the adults' ears.

Grace smiled again as she pecked her boy's forehead. "Mommy promise you. Now you will let me take a bath first, right?"

Grace was quite patient with her child, and her effort was paid off when Charlie finally nodded his head at her.

The short-haired lady heaved a sigh of relief before shifting her gaze to her husband. Her husband gave her a loving kiss on her forehead, and she immediately headed to the second floor of the house.

She was indeed tired, and she indeed needed a warm bath for her tensed muscles.

She arrived at her room and was about to head to her wardrobe, but her phone inside her handbag suddenly vibrated, causing her to halt her movement.

Frowning for a moment, she then moved her hand to fish out the thin object from the bag and brought her eyes to the phone screen. She frowned upon reading Julia Concord's name on the screen.

Julia was there at Kris's birthday party, but now the pregnant lady was calling her. Grace was sure that there was something important her trusted subordinate wanted to say to her, and that was why Grace immediately answered the call.

"What's up, Jule?" The cold lady greeted the caller.

"I can't help you with your plan anymore, Grace," Julia replied from the other end of the phone, not caring about courtesy and dared to call her boss by name.. "I will leave Kevin alone, and I think you should cancel your plan as well. Just tell him the truth, Grace!"
