The Blue Eyes

Chapter 235 - IS GRACE THE MASTERMIND?

Kevin walked back to the orphanage with his legs feeling so weak as if he had just received a hundred lashes.

Grace turned out to hate his mother because she thought his mother dumped her in the past. Selena handed the adoptive daughter back to the orphanage and canceled the adoption, and it reminded him of something.

Kris had told him the details about Joseph's past. Joseph was an orphan too, and he was adopted by the Allaband family in his childhood. Unfortunately, the Allabands decided to send him back to the orphanage because they finally got their child. Joseph ended up building a huge amount of hatred because of the sad past, and he ended up trying to destroy the world because of his painful past.

Grace probably felt the same as Joseph, but Kevin believed that his mother didn't intend to dump her. His mother just didn't want to risk the poor teenager's life because she knew that she would have a difficult life. Unfortunately, Grace couldn't see the real intention.

Instead of seeing the real intention, Grace believed that Selena just wanted to get rid of her because the professor finally had her child. If Selena did that because of that reason, then Selena was no different from the Allabands in the past, right?

Kevin believed that his late mother would not do such a thing, but he was still worried about what Grace would do to 'get revenge' on his mother.

The black-haired scientist was traumatized by what his father did in the past, and he was afraid that Grace would commit the same crimes as his father. Joseph became a heartless person, and what if Grace ended up being that kind of person too?

Kevin's mind was tangled, and his steps halted when he arrived in front of the orphanage door.

'Is Grace really the mastermind of all the crime? Grace and my father have similar pasts, and what if they're indeed working together all along? Maybe my father managed to provoke Grace until she's willing to work with him? Grace is my father's accomplice?' Kevin couldn't help but have that kind of thought in his head.

He was still having the complicated thought in his mind, but the door in front of him suddenly opened from the inside.

"What are you doing here, Kevin? Have you finished talking with Mrs. Hasler?"

It was Kris who opened the door for him, and it was also Kris who questioned him in a concerned tone. His fiance probably saw him from the window, and when he saw that he was standing like a statue in front of the door, the tanned man decided to open the door for him.

Perhaps he looked confused in Kris's eyes, and he flashed an assuring smile at his fiance because he didn't want to make his fiance worried about him.

"I'm done talking to her, Kris," Kevin answered carefully. "Where are my parents?" He added while trying to peek behind his fiance's figure.

"We are here, Kevin," Benjamin chimed in from behind Kris, and Kris decided to step aside to allow the father to talk to the son.

Benjamin didn't come outside alone as he was also with his wife.

"I'm sorry because the party ended like this, Dad," the young scientist apologized to his father sincerely as he also glanced at his mother.

Benjamin sighed before patting his son's shoulder. "It's not your fault, Kev. It's not like you were the one who attacked us earlier, right? It's probably that sneaky woman's doing, so it's her fault instead of yours. You don't have to feel guilty, son."

Benjamin didn't even have enough proof to blame the head of the Intelligence Agency, but he still slandered the lady in the end.

"You and Mom should go back home before it's getting late, Dad. Do you want me to call the driver for you?" Kevin asked again as he ignored his father's words.

Benjamin and Charlotte came to the orphanage by themselves without a driver. The old man insisted on driving the car, so Kevin couldn't do anything other than let his father do as he wished.

After the dangerous incident had just happened, Kevin was worried about letting his adoptive parents go home without a driver.

"You don't have to do that, Kev. I'm not that old, so I can drive your beautiful mother safely," Benjamin replied as he glimpsed at his wife. The wife could only smile at her husband's sneaky attitude.

"If you don't want me to call the driver, then do you want me to drive you home, Dad?"

Kevin was still so stubborn, and Benjamin snorted before replying, "You don't believe in me, do you? I promise that I will drive so slowly, and you can rest assured that we will arrive home safely."

Kevin was still worried in his heart. He was worried if there would be another attack that target his parents later. He still didn't know the real target of the attacker, so he was so restless to let his parents go home alone.

The young scientist's face looked so troubled, and Benjamin seemed to be able to read his son's worry. He sighed heavily before saying, "I don't know what you've heard from that cunning woman earlier, but I hope you won't be shaken by her words. She just wanted to make you confused, Kevin. You shouldn't believe in her words."

Kevin was a bit puzzled by his father's statement. Grace didn't even try to make him side with her. The lady indeed told a different version of the story, but the lady openly let him hate her and didn't have any intention to make him believe in her.

And instead of trying to win Kevin's trust, she openly announced the 'war' in front of Kevin. The lady knew that he hated her, and she also admitted that she hated him.

"I know what I'm doing, Dad. Mrs.. Hasler said that she hates me, and I don't feel the need to make her change her mind."
