The Blue Eyes

Chapter 175 - THE MESSY LADY

Kevin's new car came to a perfect stop in front of a small house that still looked brand new without much decoration on the outside. It had a front yard where some trees grew quite well, but the yard wasn't huge and could only accommodate two cars parked side by side.

Besides Kevin's new car, another white car was parked in the yard even before Kevin's car arrived.

The raven-haired scientist and other passengers inside the silver car immediately unbuckled their seatbelts as soon as the driver turned off the car engine.

"It's such a nice car! When will you buy me a car like this, Kris?" Jack suddenly broke the silence.

Kris, who was sitting at the front passenger seat next to the driver's seat, just rolled his eyes as he replied, "You need to work your lazy ass to buy a nice car for yourself, Jack."

Jack just scoffed. He was working hard in the orphanage, but the salary he received from Kevin wasn't that big. He had never complained before, but yeah, it was indeed not big.

"Can you raise my salary, Kevin?" The blonde man asked as he turned to Kevin at the driver's seat.

Kevin just chuckled when he stared at Jack through the rearview mirror. "Your salary came from Kris's wallet, Jack. You should have asked him instead of me."

Jack jeered once again. "Nevermind, then," he replied. "Asking him is like asking a statue. Even if I burn incense and pray to him every day, he will never raise my salary."

Kevin and Blue chuckled, but Kris just ignored the tattooed man's mocking. He then turned to his lover and asked, "Do you think it's okay to visit Julia without informing her beforehand?"

Kevin looked back to Kris and said, "It's okay. We also bring some food with us, right? She surely will welcome us warmly."

The caramel-haired man just shrugged and didn't say anything again.

The four people then got out of the car with Jack brought two plastic bags in his hands. On the way, they had stopped at the supermarket to buy food for the pregnant lady. Kevin thought that coming empty-handed was rude, so they decided to bring something.

They walked toward the front door, and Kevin immediately raised his hand to press the doorbell.

They waited a few minutes for the door to open, and they were greeted by Julia, who looked disheveled in her shabby clothes. Even her hair looked like a bird's nest right now.

The lady didn't look surprised, though.

"You are not surprised to see us, Jule?" Kevin asked curiously.

"I've looked at the intercom before I opened the door," the pregnant lady answered. "Do you want to go in, or do you guys just want to play with the doorbell?"

What a sarcastic response. Kris glanced at Kevin briefly. He must still remember when Kevin said that the lady would welcome them warmly, but the welcome they just received wasn't warm at all.

"Are we disturbing you, Jule?" Kevin asked timidly.

Julia just sighed before she turned around without closing the door. She was signaling the 'guests' to follow her into the house.

"I was sleeping when suddenly I heard the bell rang," the lady answered as she sat down on a sofa in the living room.

The four guests also placed themselves on the sofas awkwardly. Before sitting down, Jack put the plastic bags on the table first.

"You're sleeping at this hour? How about dinner? It's no good skipping dinner, Jule."

Julia yawned before she answered Kevin's question, "I had my dinner already."

The four guests were stunned. They had hoped to have dinner at Julia's house, eating the food that the lady had cooked, but their imaginations remained imaginations.

They silently inspected Julia's appearance, which was a total opposite from her usual chic appearance. She was wearing an oversized t-shirt with a pair of sweatpants. She didn't put on any makeup, and she let her hair fell messily on her shoulders.

"I'm wearing Andre's clothes," the lady suddenly broken the silence. It seemed that she noticed the four people's odd gaze toward her.

The four guests couldn't say anything upon hearing Julia's words. Deep inside their hearts, they knew that Julia still couldn't move on from Andre.

"I'm sorry, Jule," Kevin quietly apologized as he ducked his head. He couldn't help but feel guilty again.

"What's wrong with you, Kev?" Julia asked with a playful tone. "I'm not blaming you. I'm comfortable sleeping in his clothes, so I'm wearing them. I'm perfectly okay now."

Even though the lady said that she was okay, there was still pain remaining in her beautiful eyes.

"Anyway, what do you guys want to talk to me? I'm sure that you didn't come here just to deliver some food," Julia spoke again as she peered at the plastic bags on the table.

Kevin smiled sheepishly at the lady. "We want to ask for your opinion, Jule," he answered.

He could see the lady raised an eyebrow before she asked, "What opinion?"

"Blue found something new about the buried valley, and we want to go there to investigate. Do think it will be okay?" Kevin asked the lady.

Julia looked a little surprised before asking again, "What new information did Blue find?"

"Blue found car wheels' trails in the area of the buried valley. It seems that there are some activities in the area."

Julia was astonished. She glanced at Blue and found the girl just stared at her innocently. The girl looked pure and innocent, but she had a wild brain.

When they had a meeting yesterday, Blue said nothing about the trails, but 24 hours later, she found something new about the trails. Blue was indeed not an ordinary girl.

"I've been making queries about that, but I still don't get any information. Give me a few days to gather more information. After that, you can go directly to Chilad to look for physical evidence," Julia decided.

"That sounds like a plan," Kris chimed in. "We can go to Chilad next week, right, Kev?" He added as he turned to his lover.

The said lover looked up at him while frowning. "Don't you remember that my foster parents will come back to the country next week, Kris?" He asked back instead of answering.

It seemed that Kris forgot about his future in-law's arrival. He could only reply with an "Ah" and didn't say anything again.

"Wait," Julia spoke again. "Your foster parents will come back to the country next week, Kev?"

The pregnant lady looked startled, but she was not the only one who looked shocked. Blue and Jack also showed the same expression.

"You didn't tell me about that before, Brother," Blue butted in.

Kevin rubbed the nape of his neck awkwardly. "My adoptive father called me last night to tell me about the plan. I only told Kris and forgot to tell you guys," he replied sheepishly.

"I've never met your foster parents, Kev," Julia spoke again.

"I will introduce them to you if you want to," the scientist responded.

Julia just laughed as she waved her hand. "Nevermind," she responded. "Just enjoy your time with your parents, Kev. They rarely come back to the country, right? You should welcome them warmly."

Kevin just smiled at the lady's suggestion. He indeed had a plan to spend more time with his foster parents when they came back to the country, and that was why he made a decision.

"Kris can go to Chilad with Jack."

That was his declaration, and it made the two men widen their eyes in surprise.

"What?" Kris asked in disbelief. "Why should I go with Jack instead of you?"

Jack looked shocked as well, but he remained calm and didn't say anything.

"You said that you and Jack are friends now, right? I think it won't be a big deal if you go with him," Kevin replied.

Kris was about to open his mouth to speak, but Julia's words stopped his movement.

"I agree with Kevin," she stated. "Among the four of you, Kris and Jack are the physically strongest. If something bad happens there, they'll be able to handle it."

"Why did you say something like that, Jule? They aren't going to fight there, right?"

Kevin sounded panic, and Julia couldn't help but chuckle. "That's not what I meant, Kev," she replied. "It's just a form of anticipation. They should prepare for any danger, right?"

Kevin huffed annoyedly at the lady. That was not funny, so he didn't join the laughter.

Opted to ignore the pretty lady, Kevin turned to Kris and Jack. "You two don't have any objections, right?" He glanced back and forth between the two men.

"I'm okay with the idea," Jack was the first to respond.

Kris glimpsed at Jack for a moment before he sighed. "I'm also okay," he declared.

Kevin finally smiled at the responses. "It's settled then," he said before turning to Julia again. "Anyway, Jule. Do you know something about Felix Smith?"

Julia looked perplexed when she heard Kevin's question. "Felix Smith?" She parroted. "He worked under Orka until two years ago, right? My husband hated him so much."
