The Black Necromancer

Chapter 506 Devos

Chapter 506 Devos

On the other side, the A ranks sent from the Army of Destruction evaluated the defenders of the Cromwell Empire.

"These are the summons of the one our Master is interested in. They are not too bad." One of the A ranks said. The one that spoke was the strongest amongst them and went by the name Devos. Among the ten, he was the only one that had a name. The others were all under his command.

"Even still, we should not underestimate them. To do so would be a great disservice. I doubt their master would enter the eyes of ours if he was not exceptional, and in turn, that would make them worthy opponents." One of the other nine spoke, this one being the second strongest.

"Two, it seems like the centuries of remaining in slumber has caused your mind to stagnate." Devos cast a disdainful look to the second strongest, 'Two'.

Two hesitated before bowing slightly and putting some distance between himself and Devos. The ten had disagreements amongst themselves, but none of them were able to overpower the other completely, with only Devos being the one who could do so, which had earned him the right to lead this team and have a name bestowed upon him by their master.

Devos floated forward and his eyes scanned the summons of Leon that were facing off against his team. He drew in the mana in the atmosphere and used it to amplify his voice.

"Minions of the one known as Leon Cromwell, I give you this chance to submit and receive eternal life from my Master. I will only extend this opportunity this one time. If you refuse, then you shall be dealt with accordingly." Devos' voice rang out over the entire capital of the Cromwell Empire.

As soon as he finished speaking, a powerful aura suddenly blasted into the sky, followed by the rapid rise of an eye catching figure that burned with black flames.

"YOU DARE COVET FATHER'S CHILDREN?!" Raegan's voice boomed with a righteous fury as he glared at Devos. The black flames that were within his skull burned brighter until the leaked out of the orifices of his skull and made his skull look like it was burning. It gave him a menacing visage and caused Devos to reevaluate him.

"Father? Ha! Delusional!" Devos laughed at Raegan, causing the later to grow even more angry.

"Insult me and I can let it slide, but insult my Father, and I will make sure you suffer unimaginable agony! Prepare for your doom!" Raegan raised his spear and a black flame blazed along its length. He pointed it at Devos and the other A ranks before giving his order.

"Attack!"

Devos did not delay either and also ordered the A ranks following him to attack. However, in the following moments, he realized that he had indeed severely underestimated the A ranks under the one his master had set his sights on.

He frowned, the pitch black skin underneath his armor wrinkling as he studied Raegan while dodging the stabs of the burning spear that came at him. He was under great pressure but still had a little leeway to study his opponent.

'It is strange. His soul is so young, almost black. But he wields such explosive power?' Devos was several centuries old. He had lost count some time ago, as it no longer mattered to him. Whenever he was not needed, he was put to sleep within his Master's mind, so time long since stopped mattering to him.

Because of his advanced age and the many experiences he had gone through, it was easy for him to see through a person's true age. He could tell that Raegan was unbelievably young in Soul, which was what led to his current confusion, as he could not understand how such a young soul could be so powerful.

'Is this why the Master is fixated on this world? Why else would we need to join the Army of Destruction to lay siege to this world?'

Indeed, the ten A ranks that had descended above the Cromwell Empire were none other than the minions of the Paragon of Undeath! He would have loved to come and handle Leon himself directly, but the rules that bound the actions of the Army of Destruction which he was working with did not allow him to do so. The war had to progress in a way where the world that was being put to the test would be able to fight and prove whether or not it was worthy of its existence.

Most worlds failed to ever pass this stage.

First, the Vanguard Forces would be sent to probe the world. Then in the following month, the main forces of the Army would arrive and wage true war on the world. A lot of worlds had failed to stave off the advance of the Vanguard Force, so when the main force even arrived, there was not much to do except to just clean it up and move on.

If the Vanguard Forces were dealt with and repelled, then the next stage would begin. The Main Forces would arrive and wage war. Depending on how well the Main Forces were met and handled, the world under siege would be given another chance. But this all depended on how well the world was able to prove itself. If there was enough potential and talent spotted during the war, then the world would be spared and would enter an age of extreme development and growth. This would allow it to restore its former glory and quickly surpass its peak!

However, if the world was unable to prove that it had a hope for the future if it was spared, then the world would be destroyed! Life on that world would be wiped out and the world would be left, ravaged, left for the Void to nurture a new replacement and create new life. Then the cycle would begin all over again.
