The 100th Regression of the Max-Level Player

Chapter 259: Controlling Power (1)

The Hero’s Touch allowed for two choices:

Move to the target or summon the target.

Among these, Ryu Min chose:

“Option 1.”

He chose to move to his younger sibling.

Not only did he want to protect him, but he also needed to confirm the identity of his enemy.

Flash—

In the moment of his choice, Ryu Min saw a great archangel intimidating his younger sibling.

“This won’t do. I’ll have to tear your arm off myself…”

BOOM!

Overwhelmed by rage, Ryu Min lost control and slammed the angel into the living room wall.

‘I adjusted my strength at the last second, so it shouldn’t have killed him.’

If it had, things would become problematic.

He hadn’t had the chance to use the Blessing of the Demon yet.

“G-Gabriel!”

An angel hurriedly rushed toward the living room in panic.

‘So, the one I hit is named Gabriel.’

Ryu Min only learned the other angel’s name—Raphael—after reading the other one’s thoughts.

He also learned that they were ranked second and third among the archangels.

While Raphael tended to Gabriel, Ryu Min turned around.

He saw his younger sibling staring at him blankly.

“What’s your name?”

“Ryu… Won.”

“I’m the Black Scythe.”

“Ah, I know. I’ve seen you on TV a lot.”

Sometimes, media exposure was useful—it saved him the trouble of a lengthy introduction.

“This might be overwhelming, but you need to focus. The situation is urgent.”

“What’s going on…?”

For Ryu Won, it must have been a whirlwind of confusion.

One moment, an archangel appeared, binding him with chains and issuing threats.

The next, the Black Scythe appeared out of nowhere.

“There’s no time to explain. What’s important is that you need to escape from here immediately.”

At that moment, a message appeared.

[The ‘Hero’s Protection’ on your target has expired.]

The 10-second invulnerability cast on his younger sibling had ended.

Without hesitation, Ryu Min activated the Rune of Sacrifice.

[You have designated a target for protection.]n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

[You will take all damage intended for the target.]

[The rune deactivates if the distance between you and the target exceeds 100 meters.]

‘Good. The Rune of Sacrifice is in place.’

This meant his sibling was now virtually invincible.

‘He won’t get caught in the battle and die. At least, not until I die first.’

Even so, Ryu Min couldn’t let his guard down.

Two archangels stood before him.

‘The earlier attack dealt some damage, but it wouldn’t have been fatal.’

As expected, Gabriel rose nonchalantly, brushing off his wings.

“Raphael, it seems I’ve embarrassed myself in your presence. To think I couldn’t dodge a mere human’s attack.”

“Are you all right?”

“Thanks to you, I’m unscathed.”

It wasn’t bravado. Gabriel’s body bore not a single scratch.

‘Even though I adjusted my strength, he’s completely unharmed?’

Ryu Min’s astonishment faded after he read Gabriel’s thoughts.

‘It’s because of that Raphael.’

Raphael wasn’t much of a combatant, but his array of support skills was unparalleled.

The shield he had cast earlier had prevented Gabriel from taking damage.

‘This won’t work. I’ll have to target Raphael first…’

But Gabriel seemed aware of this and moved Raphael behind him.

“Stay behind me. This human warrants some caution.”

“I agree.”

Seeing Gabriel protect Raphael, Ryu Min knew.

‘This won’t be easy.’

That didn’t mean he lacked confidence.

He was certain he could win.

The problem was protecting his younger sibling while fighting in such a confined space.

Without taking his eyes off the archangels, Ryu Min spoke.

“Listen carefully, Ryu Won. This is an emergency. Stay in your room and don’t move an inch.”

“You mean just sit here?”

“Exactly. Moving around will only make it more dangerous. I’ll protect you, so stay put.”

He didn’t wait for him reply.

Gabriel, chains extending from his hands, was closing in.

“So, you’re the infamous Black Scythe. I must admit, you’re stronger than I expected. However…”

Without warning, Gabriel hurled his chains.

Ryu Min couldn’t dodge—his sibling was behind him.

Clang—!

The chains wrapped tightly around Ryu Min’s body.

“You need to understand that there’s always a greater power.”

The chains glowed red-hot, melting through Ryu Min’s armor.

Sizzle—

Smoke rose as his flesh burned and disintegrated.

“Hiiik!”

Ryu Won gasped, retreating in horror.

He couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Gabriel and Raphael, on the other hand, laughed gleefully at the grotesque scene.

“So pathetic. Had I known he’d die this easily, I’d have played with him longer.”

“Indeed, Gabriel.”

“I guess there was no need to take a hostage after all…”
