Stuck as a Villain!

Chapter 137: Planning

Chapter 137: Planning

[Ciel's POV:]

"Come on. Now don't pout like that. "I tried to coax my dear friend who was making a grumpy face upon hearing the team selection President Seth made.

Since the next round would be purely based on the Physical capabilities of the candidates, undoubtedly the weakest one would be left out. It was not that I was belittling Anabelle, far from it. If talking about the amount of Soul Energy then she leaves everyone miles away except for President, whose limit I have yet to see.

The connection Anabelle shares with mother nature could have proven a lot more useful in the terrain we would be rivaling our next match, but as I mentioned earlier, this contest is all to assess the physicality of the students means no Soul-based attacks nor any artifacts were allowed. Anything which involves magic is strictly prohibited, and thus Anabelle was red-marked.

"But-but...I was not present during the first round as well...am I that useless?"

Whether she was asking herself or the man sitting at the head seat of the table, I wasn't sure. What I was sure about is that this girl was deliberately trying to act cute and the way Arata and Kevin rose their brows, I knew her charm was working.

But...only a single exception was immune to the adorable Anabelle.

"It has been observed and tested Anabelle that you are the least physically fit and would only slow down the team. "

'Ouch... 'I winced inwardly hearing that blunt judgment which made Anabelle sulk as I lent her my shoulder.

Poor thing. I sighed.

"Coming to the topic, I want everyone to understand that this round is not based just on brutally snatching our opponent's flags and get be done with it. "

President Seth stood up from his seat before he took a marker and began scribbling over the whiteboard under our watchful gazes.

The first thing he listed was our names before he began writing down what we were good at.

I...was surprised to see that President Seth knew this much about me.

"I think we all agree with the overall evaluation I have noted? "

Just like Kevin and Arata, I also nodded my head since from what he has written it was within my capabilities. Though there were still some of the merits left, it was merely because I never showed every card I possessed.

"First let's know what our terrain would be and what we have to do to gain points. "

As he said, he drew what seemed like pieces of land and in the middle, he just ran the marker horizontally to draw some random lines...oh, it's trying water

"Our team would be facing the Ginzerg's team Royal Academy of Veterans. The point to be noted, they didn't participate in the quiz at all. Does anyone know why?"

"Oh, ah, because they are muscle heads?"

Anabelle replied but I guess everyone in this room already knew this. The two teams which didn't participate in the quiz are those who elected to have their team filled with warriors and brawlers.

"Good." President casually said and turned to look back at the board.

"Ehehe~" Well, it didn't seem Anabelle took the compliment just casually.

Well, good that her mood seemed to have elevated slightly.

"They all have participants specialized in distinctive fields and we need to be stationed at those marks to counter their assault while gaining as many points as we can."

"For the site then two small plateaus would be granted for either team and a set of 40 flags on either side. Snatching the enemy team's flag and holding it until the end of the match would grant two points. Retaining your flag would grant 1 point each."

"There would be a section given inside which the flags cannot be attacked but the participants can. Once someone snatches the opponent's flag they have to reach their home base and hoist it in the flag section to secure points. Before that, anyone can destroy the flag. "

Interrupting the ongoing explanation Kevin asked something which the President already told.

"So if not inside the home base flag circle, no flag is secured?"Anabelle glared at the guy for interjecting but the latter just played ignorant.

"No. Not only do we have to secure the flags of the other team but also have to bring it back safely since mid-way, they can either snatch it back or destroy it with any means possible until it doesn't get lethal to the participant. "

That...would be one hell of a chaotic battle.

Not only do we have to be quick on our feet to not get tackled by the enemy team when robbing the flags, but we also have to cross the five meters of rivers and run back to the Flag circle as quickly as possible.

"Is there any rule on how many flags can be taken at once? "This time Arata raised his voice. This was something I was also curious about.

"No, but taking more than one would be foolish."Arata strangely glared at President Seth but the latter seemed unbothered by it as he continued.

"Not only are we not allowed to use Soul Energy for Body Strengthening but there are several traps on the ground as well which might sabotage the whole raid and you may not get even one point. Injuries would be the last thing to worry about if such a situation arises."

True. Greed might overtake amidst the adrenaline-pumping match but now that President has warned I would do my best to retain my composure and go for only one at a time.

"Umm...Sorry to interrupt, President, but what are the restrictions? "

I asked after raising my hand to which President Seth fixed his glasses and began noting it down on the board while reading it aloud as well.

"No fatal injuries. No slashing limbs. No impaling. No use of hidden weapons. No artifacts. No deliberate damage to the eyes. And lastly, Soul Energy is out of the equation."

"Can't they just use the Soul Restrictor to ensure no one cheats? I mean I definitely would not use my skill but who knows maybe someone from the opposing team tries to be sneaky? "

Arata raised the query and it has some points of concern and questionable points. The organizers can just use the wide-area Restrictors so that no one, even by accident, uses their magical aspect.

Hearing the query, President leaned his back on the board before he replied as he took his glasses off, "I don't know what you all know about the Legendary Sage but from my knowledge, nothing can go unnoticed by those pair of unnatural eyes. And about the choice of not applying Soul Restrictor, then it's a challenge for students to entirely rely on their physical capabilities to come out as the victors. If not, then you will be facing a humiliating disqualification."

It makes sense. I have heard things about the Sage and how he can even notice a single drop of intent from meters apart without even looking at it directly. His perception is Godly so detecting magical essence would not be a problem for him.

'I just have to keep myself in check...' Clenching my fist under the table I redirected my focus on President Seth who was about to begin the topic of team formation.
