Sovereign of the Firmaments

The reason why Lucas was surprised with the system notification was that the difference between the first lightning strike and the second lightning strike is only 10 percent.

'Generally, it should be at least 50 percent more powerful than the first lightning strike?'

Lucas thought about it in his head and wondered why the second lightning strike was only 10 percent more powerful than the first lightning strike.

'I will check the third lightning strike and see.'

Actually, Lucas was worried about the Shadow dragon's angry roar at the heavens when the lightning strikes landed on its body because the heavens would increase the difficulty of the lightning tribulation.

Nevertheless, Lucas felt there was something wrong with the second lightning strike and wanted to confirm something for the third lightning strike.

'Rumble'

Soon, a loud rumbling sound came from the tribulation cloud and in the next second, the third lightning strike descended on the shadow dragon's back.

Just like before, the shadow dragon swiftly moved its body by a foot and successfully changed the place where the third lightning strike was landing.

'Kacha'

As usual, the dragon scales in that place were broken and the surrounding area was charred black by the lightning strike.

'Roar'

Once again, the shadow dragon roared to the heavens with an angry look on its eyes as though it was complaining about the pain.

'Is this what I really think it is?'

As for Lucas, he was surprised when he saw the system notification in his head and came to another conclusion.

'Ding,

          The third lightning strike is 5 percent more powerful than the first lightning strike.

'What the…only five percent?'

Lucas was still unable to come out of his shock as he looked at the tribulation cloud in the sky and thought, 'Looks like heavens want the shadow dragon to successfully complete its lightning tribulation.'

This was the only reason and conclusion that Lucas had come to after receiving the system notification.

'And why would the Heavens show such huge partiality towards the shadow dragon?'

Once Lucas came to the conclusion that the heavens didn't want the shadow dragon to fail the lightning tribulation, he stopped worrying about the shadow dragon as he searched for the reason why Heavens wants to do that.

'Rumble'

'Swoosh'

Soon, the next lightning strike was also released by the tribulation cloud; however, this time, the shadow dragon did something to the incoming lightning strike.

'Shadow breath'

'Boom'

A cloud of black coloured smoke came out of its mouth as it collided with the incoming lightning strike.

In the next moment, a huge explosion filled the entire area with black smoke.

'Swoosh'

However, the fourth lightning strike was still intact as it rushed into the black smoke.

'Boom'

Soon, another explosion occurred in the smoke-filled area and Lucas was sure that the shadow dragon was able to escape that fourth lightning strike successfully.

Because compared to the earlier lightning strikes, the sound was different when the lightning strike landed on the target.

Even though they were not able to see through because of the black smoke, no one was worried about it.

'Ding,

          The fourth lightning strike is 4 percent more powerful than the first lightning strike.

Once again, Lucas was surprised by the system notification in his head.

'What kind of concept is it? For every one, as the number of lightning strikes increases, the power in them would insanely increase; however, for the shadow dragon, it was not at all increasing; instead, it was decreasing.'

Lucas felt like he would be dying with curiosity for why Heavens was so generous towards the shadow dragon.

'Wait a second.'

Even though it seemed like Lucas stopped thinking about the reason for that, actually, he was still thinking about it.

By doing so, Lucas felt like he found something.

'The evil entity offered the shadow dragon to join the evil side before the shadow dragon could even evolve.'

'Also, now he was given special treatment by the heavens during the lightning tribulation. Why are they doing that? Is shadow dragon has some kind of ability?'

Lucas was very sure that both Heavens and Nether realms beings want the shadow dragon on their side; however, what he was unable to find out was the 'Reason'.

'Looks like I need to ask the shadow dragon but I doubt he knows the reason though.'

Lucas shook his head as he thought, 'Anyway, I will just ask and if he really didn't know about it, I can only wait until I upgrade my rank.'

With that thought in his head, Lucas continued to watch the lightning tribulations.

From the fourth lightning tribulation onwards, the shadow dragon was actively attacking the incoming lightning strike and decreased its power by half or more than half.

Since the tribulation cloud was not increasing the power of the lightning strikes, there was no more suspense as the shadow dragon easily overcame the fifth and sixth lightning strikes.

"FINAL LIGHTNING STRIKE."

All of a sudden, a thunderous voice came from the tribulation cloud, making everyone in the Barren firmament shiver just from the three words.

'Hey, that is definitely the tribulation cloud.'

'Yeah. Also, that voice is way scarier than anything I have seen or heard.'

'If someone successfully survived the six lightning strikes from the heavens, then he must be very powerful.'

'Yes. If he is not powerful, then how do you think he survived the six lightning strikes.'

'Finally, the Barren firmament is about to have a heavenly rank expert.'

'However, there is still another lightning strike. I heard it will be at least five times more powerful than the sixth lightning strike.'

Those who didn't believe the cloud in the sky was not a tribulation cloud changed their views after hearing the words of a thunderous voice from the sky.

Except for the small portion of people, everyone was happy because of the birth of a heavenly rank expert.

As long as they have a heavenly rank expert, their firmament would no longer be called 'Barren firmament' and would officially have a name.

Among the nine firmaments, the barren firmament is ranked ninth directly without any competition or anything with the other firmaments and there was only one reason.

And the reason was, there was not a single heavenly rank expert in the Barren firmament until now and only a heavenly ranked expert had the ability to name a firmament.

Even though they were excited about the birth of a Heavenly ranked expert, they knew that he still had to go through the final lightning strike and he had to survive it.

Only then, he would become a Heavenly ranked expert; otherwise, he would be just another expert, who would be losing his life in the pursuit of gaining higher power.

"It is about to come to an end. We need to fly faster."

As for King Aston, he was not as anxious as he was earlier but still, there was little anxiousness on his face. So, he ordered the flying spirit beast below his feet to fly faster.

'As long as I follow the system's words, I can take control of the situation. There is still hope.'

As the flying spirit beast increased its speed, King Aston was muttering the same thing again and again to increase his confidence in what he was about to do next.

Back in the Silverstone town.

'Will sir dragon overcome the last lightning strike?'

'Even though sir dragon has easily overcome the six lightning strikes, the last one is going to be tough.'

'But, I don't think it will be impossible for sir dragon. He will overcome it and we will have a Heavenly ranked spirit beast to protect us.'

Except for Lucas, everyone in the Silverstone town was worried about the Shadow dragon.

Even though some of them looked very confident on the surface, it was just them trying to fill hope into everyone and the positive air in the town.

'I think this is the first and last easiest lightning tribulation in history.'

As for Lucas, he was having an ear to ear smile on his face as he looked at the shadow dragon and waited for the seventh and the last lightning strike to descend.

'Rumble'

'Swoosh'

Finally, the last lightning strike descended onto the ground.

Compared to the previous lightning strike, the last lightning strike looked completely different in both coloured and size.

The earlier lightning strikes were only three meters in length with pure white colour; however, the last one was more than ten meters in length and completely purple in colour.

'Don't tell the heavens to change its view on the shadow dragon.'

Lucas was a little surprised; however, he knew it was not possible. Even if it happens, Lucas could only let the shadow dragon fight it out.

'If I help the shadow dragon by jumping now, the heavens will start everything from the beginning. So, it's better for me to stay out of it.'

Even though Lucas wanted to help the shadow dragon, he knew that if he helped the shadow dragon, he would only make things difficult for the shadow dragon.

So, he stopped himself from making things difficult for the shadow dragon.

"Dragon blast"

As a spirit beast that was about to enter the Heavenly rank, how could it not know what would happen to it if it failed now?

It decided to go all out for the final lightning strike even when it knew that Heavens would not make things difficult for it.

So, it used one of its strongest moves to counter the incoming lightning strike.
