75. An emergency Quest and King's Knight!

'Motherfucker literally pulled a gun! Feels like I am in a western country!' Logan was horrified.

The Shotgun in Robert's hand had a few mana stones embedded in its barrel and whenever he fired the gun, Logan felt his soul leave his body.

BANG!

Those bullets were dangerous, to say the least. Logan tried to flee.

But this Shotgun was not omnipotent either.

"Though it needs mana stones for every shot and is pretty costly… It's still worth it if it can kill you…" Shotguns did not have an accurate point of contact but they were still useful if fired from a short distance.

Because of this, the stone that had busted earlier did not reach Logan's core. "It still hurts…" Logan said. He was caught off guard and was hit by one shot. His steps were sluggish.

His battle against Robert had been ridiculous.

When he cut his two fingers earlier, Robert was injured pretty badly and his stamina seemed to be decreased as well, but now the tables were turned.

The shotgun had similar effects to mana bombs, no wonder the demon hunters were fearless.

Demon hunters surely had this trump card well hidden under their sleeves.

...

<Emergency Quest!>

...

The time around Logan seemed to be stopped as he heard a notification in his mind.

When he checked it, he saw that the system had given him a quest.

'What is it?' He said while sluggishly dodging the attack.

...

<Emergency Quest!>

<Survive if you can!>

The Host of the Sin and Virtue System is in Mortal danger. The world's most expensive yet cheapest thing is 'Life'.

'Just WOW' Logan cursed inside his mind.

The most wonderful scenario of all time!

Logan was tired, he had accumulated a lot of fatigue. If he spends a little more time without his left arm, he was sure of his defeat.

Every hit by the shotgun was as painful as a soul leaving the body. In his berserk state, his body was tough, yet the bullets of the gun were able to pierce through his defenses.

This was not the time to think calmly, he needed to hurry!

He was waiting for the right opportunity to strike and it arrived sooner than he expected.

"Tsk" Robert clicked his tongue as the mana stones inside the shotgun ended. Before he could reload another round, mustering his entire strength Logan leaped and pounced at Robert.

He needed to complete the three quests to insure his survival, and if he failed to do so, then his death was the only outcome.

Boom! Bam! Bam!

With his right hand still intact, Logan punched Robert three times on his vitals with the help of <God of War>.

These punches made Robert a little dizzy and lose balance. With this accurate timing, Logan pulled the tricks he had saved up until now!

"<Earth Spike>!" Two spikes with thin and sharp tips grew from the earth and mercilessly pierced through Robert's calves.

"Aghhh!" Robert's moment stopped abruptly.

Though it was a surprise Logan's magic wasn't good enough to stop Robert. Not wasting any more time, Logan pulled his sword and shoved it inside Robert's heart.

"Eh..?" Robert did not get time to think before suddenly, thick black miasma poured out of his chest.

"..." Robert could feel his heartbeat slowing down.

Then suddenly his vision turned blank. For a brief moment, the memory of a simple sword slash that he took on his body flashed inside his mind.

Then he remembered that the scratch made on his body was absurdly weak and was healed without any problem.

Little did he expect a thin line of demonic energy to enter his body!

The Demonic energy ate his mana little by little, and when his external support for recovering mana was removed, the demonic energy ran havoc inside him!

'So sacrificing an arm to kill an opponent like this wasn't bad huh?' <God of War> was something Logan could not understand. It had planned things so thoroughly that it was scary!

Spurt!

"Ah…" Logan realized that his troops and his subordinates were fighting with tough opponents. He 09:06

also needed to fix his arm and then again fight for his survival, but there was no time.

Robert's heart stopped beating. His body fell to the ground.

But before Logan could rejoice,

Booooom!

A loud explosion was heard from afar.

"Ah…" Logan realized that his troops and his subordinates were fighting with tough opponents. He also needed to fix his arm and then again fight for his survival, but there was no time.

"For now, I will leave your body here, but don't worry, I'll be back." He said and dashed toward the direction of the explosion. Leaving Robert's dead body lying on the ground.

Little did he know how bad this decision was-

At the entrance of the Selva village, three silhouettes were running.

One of the three was leading the other two. "Where are we heading, Kevin?" A voice filled with a little panic and impatience asked.

"Can't you keep your mouth shut for even a minute? Are you dumb or what, Thomas?" Kevin said in annoyance. This was the tenth time, Thomas had asked the same question.

"Just answer him so he won't ask again." Jin glanced at Thomas, then at Kevin, and said.

Since the time they'd escaped the academy and arrived here, Thomas was bombarding Kevin with questions.

Kevin sighed and finally answered.

"I sensed two strong auras fighting over there. If I am not mistaken one of them was a demon. But looks like that demon just left."

"Have you become strong enough to guess the race from their spiritual energy?!" Thomas gasped.

"Hm? Is it some big deal?" Kevin asked in confusion.

"J-just ignore him." Jin signaled Thomas to shut his mouth and Thomas did so.

In a few minutes, all three entered the battlefield Logan and Robert had fought. When they entered the battlefield all they saw was a body that died in black blood lying on the floor.

It was a gruesome site to see.

Trees were burnt, multiple medium-level magic spells were used and the lingering mana along with the scent of demonic energy and blood was a clear indication of a bloody battle.

Kevin neared the body lying on the ground, leaving the two in awe. Although it was a dead body, there was something different that only Kevin could sense.

'It is still emitting an aura!' Robert's body was still emitting a unique aura as if it was preserving it from any harm.

It was simply because Robert's life was a waste to let him die easily.

Having one of the rarest affinity <Shadow> was not a joke. It was just that he had no knowledge about it and was unaware of its complete use.

<Kevin.>

<Kevin...>

<KEVIN!!!> Kevin heard a loud sound.

It was none other than Michael.

"W-what?" he blurted aloud, leaving Jin and Thomas intrigued.

"This dead body is not dead..." Kevin answered instinctively.

"Is it an Undead?" Jin asked cautiously.

In the world of Ventra, Necromancers were considered to be the devil's worshippers. <Dark> affinity of magic was not favored by many.

It was said to be the Evils deed.

When a living being dies, its soul must be left free to insure that it enters the cycle of reincarnation.

However, Necromancers did something that opposed this belief. They created creatures that had their souls captured or bounded by Dark magic.

Because of this, their souls could not enter the cycle of reincarnation and these creatures became mindless bodies that heed the order of the Necromancer.

It was taboo and it was said that this act is mostly conducted by those who have a contract with Devils or worship the devil.

"No, it's not a ghoul or undead," Kevin said and ignored the both.

Now, his attention was completely focused on Michael's words.

<Michael doesn't know if this person is the luckiest person or the unluckiest person on this planet. However, if you can take him under you, your strength will have no qualms, Kevin.>

'What do you mean?'

<This person's heart had the strength to oppose a demon's miasma. This means, he either purposefully, or unconsciously saved his heart with a unique mana technique that not many people know.>

'Continue...'

<Michael wants Kevin to convert this person into your first Knight and bring him back to life...>

'...eh?'
