Chapter 180: The Fallen Celestial(2) - Kaleyx
Ultimately, she didn't think about killing him anymore..for now.
Reclining her body on the chair, the female candidate closed her eyes as she tried to arrange her mind.
After she was done, she officially introduced herself briefly, "Kaleyx."
"Hmm..." Jake asked for confirmation.
"I'm Kaleyx. Kaleyx-edt," reintroduced the female candidate.
It was clear that she wanted a peace offering between both sides.
"Kaleyx-edt?...Hmmmm," Jake murmured.
He voiced out what his mind told him, "Negative. It means negative, right?"
'That explains her ability. It's negative based,' analyzed Jake.
"Yes. It interesting to see someone that can understand the [Celestial Tongue]," mused Kaleyx.
She wasn't just running her mouth. Her mother tongue wasn't known to many, if not all of them, in this dimension.
In the good spirit of alliance, Jake said his name, his full name this time, "Jake Khaos Amethyst."
His words lingered around Kaleyx's ears as she showed a dumbfounded expression for the first time, "Khaos? Are you perhaps lacking in your head or you just don't know the implication of that name?"
While she couldn't see it, a smile curved on Jake's face.
He deftly twirled his fingers in the air as he clarified, "I know. It is my birth name. Khaos, the title of every son of chaos! It's a family name of sorts."
Normally, he liked being quiet. His mind was chaotic enough, but facing someone that seemed to be knowledgeable of the cosmics, his curious self prohibiting him from engaging in a deep conversation.
Kaleyx blinked at him, "You knew and yet, you still took that name. Should I be amazed at your foolishness?"
Jake gave no reply to that answer. He merely ignored her and focused on his fingers.
This made Kaleyx understand that he was being serious.
She reassessed her thinking and voiced her doubts, "Are you implying that you are one? A Son of Chaos?"
"Yes"
"A Son of Chaos is never weak. If you are one, then you would have defeated me in our battle," challenged Kaleyx.
"I was one," softly sighed Jake.
Even in his previous world, he had also gotten to taste the feeling of absolute power. Despite being sealed, he was a diet among the humans of his previous one.
"You were one? I find that hard to believe. Sons of Chaos die early, and when they die, no means can bring them back," analyzed Kaleyx.
"Yes, however..." Jake derailed.
He stood up from the bed and removed his shirt, revealing his body to her.
Walking up to Kaleyx, Jake placed her hand on his heart, asking, "Can you feel it?"
Kaleyx kept quiet as she closed her eyes, trying to understand what Jake was talking about.
She focused all her senses on Jake's heart.then, she felt it.
"The aura of primordial chaos. It's weak, very weak, too weak, but I can never mistake it. Only a Son of Chaos can gain that aura, despite not possessing the energy, but a lesser version of it."
She removed her hand from his chest and said, "So, it's true."
Kaleyx understood why Jake went to great lengths to prove it to her. He wanted her to know that he was worthy of an alliance and vice-versa.
In both of their minds, this moment for them was them introducing themselves and trying to feel each other out.
Her gaze focused on him, "I'm impressed. A Son of Chaos breaking free from the shackles of death. Curiouser and curiouser."
"I suppose you not being surprised by my knowledge means you know who I am?" smiled Kaleyx.
"A Fallen Celestial. A being from another place. A reborn being like me with no powers to back her claim!" replied Jake.
That was all he knew. He wouldn't tell her he knew another so-called 'Celestial'
"I see.." trailed Kaleyx.
The introduction session was enough. There was no need to dive into their respective backgrounds.
To her, they were simple. Jake and Kaleyx, a previous Son of Chaos and a Fallen Celestial, both reborn and weak.
Moving on, she asked the crucial question, "What is a.candidate and how does it relate to me?"
'It seems she has no idea,' thought Jake.
He filled her in, "There is a man called Rhys Woods, calls himself the administrator. He goes around helping young people and sowing debts that will be reaped collectively in the future. Those young people are called Candidates."
"So, am I a candidate?" laughed Kaleyx.
She never remembered being helped.
'Hmmm, I didn't come here on my own,' realized Kaleyx.
She quickly understood her part in the play. On her way here, she was helped a bit by a mysterious force.
"Who is this Rhys Woods," quipped Kaleyx.
"I don't know who or what he is. He's just as mysterious to me as he is to you," sighed Jake.
The two begin trading information with each other. Until Kaleyx reveals a piece of shocking information.
"One question, why are you like this? Is that one of the consequences of escaping your predetermined fate?" tasked her.
Jake eyed her, "What do you mean?"
It seemed like she had already forgotten all about their fight as she brought out two papers from her pocket, or rather Jake's pocket.
She unfolds them and showed them to Jake.
"What is it?" he asked.
"When my mother--"
Jake cut in, "--your mother?"
"The banshee queen. I call her my mother as she always called me a child," explained Kaleyx with a tinge of emotion.
'Yet, she killed her,' thought Jake.
He had already increased her danger level. If she could kill someone she regarded as her mother, then what couldn't she kill...
"I know what your thinking. She was always confused about whether to kill me or not. Ultimately, she decided on the former and I gave a well-thought response," explained Kaleyx.
She switched the topic, "Anyway, my mother was quite a complicated creature. She was always curious...too curious. She would always read aloud any book that piqued her interest beside me."
"One of the things she read was a comprehensive book on herbs. This got her to get derail off, creating her own fantasy world. At one point, I remember her always speaking about some healing techniques. As I had nothing to do, I would pay attention to her," smiled Kaleyx.
