Second Try Idol

Chapter 70: Chronos History (14)

Chapter 70: Chronos History (14)

The day after Chronos’s music video shoot, UNET uploaded trailers and pre-released videos for Chronos History on their official UTube channel. Among these, two pre-released videos stood out. One depicted a realistic scene of Suh Hyun-Woo and Goh Yoo-Joon seemingly engaged in a heated fight in the recording studio, with no hint that it was actually a prank played on Kang Joo-Han. It appeared as if they were genuinely confronting each other.

The second pre-released video featured Suh Hyun-Woo abandoned at an amusement park, and it showcased Suh Hyun-Woo's face prominently, with the phrase "Where is the merry-go-round?" inscribed in an elegant gothic script. This inscription bore a striking resemblance to the Red Riding Hood Cha-Cha’s thumbnail, the one featuring the phrase "I am serious now."

In that video, Suh Hyun-Woo was abandoned by the members as he sucked at rides, sighing and looking dejectedly at the director.

- Sigh... Where's the carousel, Director?

While his reluctant demeanor made people want to tease him, the fans were excited. They were eager to see a different side of Chronos, a group known primarily for their stage performances until now. The prospect of seeing their authentic selves, as revealed during the Red Riding Hood Cha-Cha performance, filled the fans with excitement.

The third trailer video was released later, but it directly became a hot topic on social media. Shot at Tinta Land, the main content featured Chronos members screaming on rides and braving haunted houses, all set against twinkling captions that read “Beautiful Harmony~.”

- Oh no, I got left behind again. Yoo-Joon, hey, come with me. Ride with me.

- Where did Yoon-Chan go? Yoon-Chan! Where are you!?

- ...Hey! You... Ah, shoot."

In the scene, Suh Hyun-Woo wanted to ride with Goh Yoo-Joon, but the latter brushed him off in search of Park Yoon-Chan. Their frequent scuffles were accompanied by captions that read “Can’t witness their deep friendship without tears~” along with a beautiful piano background music.

- It’s coming! Run! Hyung, it's coming!

- Relax, it won't touch us. Wait... he's in a wheelchair, right? If he charges, he'll have to stop just before hitting us.

- You're eerily composed! Are we done here? I've checked everywhere.

The next scene depicted Lee Jin-Sung desperately wanting to escape the haunted house and the unwavering presence of Suh Hyun-Woo, with captions such as “What a wonderful loyalty... to stay together till the end~” accompanying their images.

Overall, UNET’s editing was impactful. By inserting ironic captions, some funny music, and contrasting images in the video, they could even make dire situations seem humorous. Also, UNET’s influence extended beyond their official UTube channel. They also created separate promotional accounts where they would regularly upload Chronos’s clips in Pick We Up or their reality show’s teasers. They even promoted the first broadcast of Chronos's reality show at the end of their TV programs, showcasing their expertise in media play.

Fans were enjoying every moment, eagerly anticipating more from Chronos.

I refuse to dine with anyone who hasn’t watched Chronos History’s trailer.

I'm serious. The trailer alone is hilarious, not to mention the generous shots of their faces!

LOL, look at my precious baby panicking! He's terrified of rides to the point of being ignored by the members, but why is he so brave in the haunted house? LOL

But something is bothering me... Why are Yoo-Joon and Hyun-Woo fighting? Is it real or just a hidden camera prank? Don’t fight... I'm upset...

No Name, thank you for editing Hyun-Woo so beautifully! Can I capture this gif and use it as my profile picture?

Chronos’s fans were having a blast, throwing a teaser party. Amidst this, a video titled “Idol Talking with a Fan for the First Time in Their Life”—featuring Suh Hyun-Woo and Kang Joo-Han chatting with a fan during the music video shoot—floated around UTube, creating a buzz.

UNET’s advertisements, fancam videos, and the UTube algorithm—everything around the social media was favorable to Chronos. However, would they be bothered by the negative public opinion arising from their extensive media exposure? Well, how often would idols from small and medium enterprises get such opportunities to make their names known?

Fortunately, the backlash of Chronos's media exposure was somewhat subdued, thanks to their legitimate victory in Pick We Up. Just as Chronos was basking in positive promotion, YMM received a call from SES, a major broadcast station.

“Hyung, I tried cooking for the first time in my life," Lee Jin-Sung announced as he entered the room, holding a phone in one hand and proudly displaying a pancake he claimed to have made himself in the other.

“What's that?"

“What did you do?"

Sitting beside each other while playing Crazy Arcade, Goh Yoo-Joon and I briefly glanced at Jin-Sung before refocusing on the game.

“Ah, shit! Suh Hyun-Woo, why are you throwing water balloons this way? You suck."

“Don't swear, you brat. I'll tell In-Hyun hyung that you cursed."

Tap tap tap! The sound of the keyboard tapping was crisp.

“Hyung, Hyung! I cooked! Did you hear me?"

“Yeah, yeah, good job. Wait until we are done with this round," replied Yoo-Joon somewhat apathetically.

“Ugh, you guys are still kids."

“Aren't you a kid as well? Weren’t you dancing to 'Rasputin' just a few minutes ago?" countered Yoo-Joon.

“...Oh please. Both of you," I commented.

Both Lee Jin-Sung and Goh Yoo-Joon were childish. I simply clicked my tongue as I burst a water balloon to trap the opponent.

“Look here, hyung! I'm filming a video right now! If you don't look, I'll upload it as it is!"

“We're playing a game right now, bro."

“The hyungs are ignoring their little brother. I'll tell the fans." Lee Jin-Sung whined and stopped filming for a moment. Then, he sat down to watch the game. “Yoo-Joon hyung sucks at this."

“What? No way. Do you want to go to the internet cafe later? In our group, Suh Hyun-Woo and I are the unbeatable duo.”

“Hyung, that person is trapped!”

“Okay!”

As my focus was on entrapping opponents with water balloon bombs, Goh Yoo-Joon gleefully burst those already caught. Like the good old days, our teamwork was still impeccable. When I looked at Lee Jin-Sung after the game, he was pouting at us, clearly feeling left out.

Goh Yoo-Joon mischievously scratched the back of his neck, grabbed Jin-Sung’s phone, and started recording. “Wow, Jin-Sung made this?” he exaggerated. I couldn’t help but chuckle and play along, pretending to be shocked. “What! Our youngest baby actually made this?”

“Stop it, hyungs.”

“Hyung! Joo-Han hyung! Yoon-Chan! Come here! Our baby made pancakes!” I enthusiastically called out, performing for the camera that Goh Yoo-Joon was holding, thrusting the pancakes into the lens.

“What? What did Jin-Sung do?”

“Hyung, the manager told me to stop gaming and come out... Oh? These are real pancakes.”

“Jin-Sung made pancakes, but it seems no one showed interest in it. He must have felt left out.”

Hearing my words, Joo-Han responded in a solemn tone, “That’s not good. We agreed to resolve any feelings of neglect immediately after our last fight.”

“It's not about that, hyungs. I just wanted to film everyone eating."

“Sorry, Jin-Sung. Let's now have a serious discussion about the pancakes," said Joo-Han.

“This is crazy! Ah, so funny!"

Joo-Han scrutinized the pancakes with wide eyes, causing Goh Yoo-Joon to burst into laughter and step back to capture us all on camera. We reverently carried the pancakes to the kitchen table.

“Oh my, Jin-Sung's pancakes. How delicious they must be~"

“Be careful not to drop the plate, hyung. These pancakes are one of a kind!"

“Alright, place the plate gently on the table. On three, okay? Slowly."

“Stop it!" Lee Jin-Sung started pushing us away haphazardly.

“Careful! They’re falling!"

“...What a spectacle. Really."

Seeing this, the manager clicked his tongue at us. Whether it was Jin-Sung being teased for his pancakes, our dramatic scene, or Goh Yoo-Joon filming, we definitely looked like fools in his eyes.

“Enough, enough. Yoo-Joon, stop filming and let's all sit down. We need to talk." The manager banged the table authoritatively, and we carefully placed the pancakes down on the table.

“Why? Is there something you want to talk about?"

“Obviously. Do you think I have nothing better to do?" our manager retorted arrogantly, prompting me to lean back in disgust. The other members also sighed, unable to respond.

“You've been sleeping at the dorm whenever you have the chance."

“Hyung, go to sleep at home. Stop squeezing into my tiny bed," said Joo-Han.

"Joo-Han hyung is at his wit's end with your snoring. It annoys him so much that he storms into our room, looking utterly frustrated," Goh Yoo-Joon complained, his expression twisted in a grimace. Both Joo-Han and the manager had bad sleeping habits. As they squeezed into one small bed, in the end, Joo-Han was forced to seek refuge in our room. As a result, Goh Yoo-Joon and I had to endure the unsettling experience of waking up to Joo-Han's face inches away from us.

The manager cast a sly grin our way before wearing a more serious expression. After that, he reached for the phone that Goh Yoo-Joon had set aside. “On another note, I feel like I haven't been taking good care of you all as well as I should lately. So, I've prepared a little gift to lift your spirits as we approach the debut."

“What gift? Don't tell me... are we getting paid for Pick We Up?" Goh Yoo-Joon's question was answered with a decisive shake of the head from the manager. “No, no, no—You're still a long way from receiving any payment. We have a lot of investment to recoup."

“Then what is it?"

The manager coolly smiled, pointing to the phone he had just picked up. We then looked at the phone screen, where the Q-app (a live personal broadcasting app for celebrities) was open.

“Uh... what's this?" Joo-Han picked up the phone, his face full of surprise. As we leaned in closer, we saw Chronos prominently featured on the main banner of the Q-app.

[Finally here! The hot group Chronos opens a channel!]

The manager announced triumphantly, “The Chronos Q-app channel is open! You haven’t even debuted yet, but we've pushed ahead with full force. You can now connect directly with your fans."

“Really?"

It was a gift even more thrilling than our victory in Pick We Up.
