Chapter 468: Lead up to the Tournament from different Perspectives

Chapter 468: Lead up to the Tournament from different Perspectives

Charles set behind his desk with a gleam in his eyes as he looked over information that the World Government Guild had gathered in the lead up to the large tournament that would happen in a couple of days. It had been a busy week ever since the announcement of the tournament and there were a lot of things that he was busy working on before the tournament could get started. Outside of the tournament itself there were several things that had to be taken care of quickly throughout the week so that the World Government Guild would be able to get a lead up against all of the other guilds that were probably thinking along the same lines.

The first issue that Charles had the members of his guild focusing on was the rise of the entertainment district. Although he didn't plan on shifting most of the guilds resources over to developing the entertainment district since it was still a part of the hub city and didn't have nearly as much overall value as claiming actual territory on earth, it was more than worth the time to put some effort into it. In the future the entertainment district would become another hot spot of the hub city like the market area that could generate a lot of business. The amount of system points that could be gained from establishing businesses in the district could go a long way.

It was clear that other guilds were thinking along the same lines as they spent a lot of time working with the normal civilians of the hub city to get the entertainment district up on its feet. After all not only would there be system points on the line from making a place for their guilds in the entertainment district, but there would also be a lot of reputation to be gained there as well. Having people that genuinely plan on spending their future working in the entertainment district working alongside you could build up a good reputation for your guild. News station would shine the spotlight on you, members of your guild could be involved in popular plays or movies that would only bring attention to your guild, and all sorts of media outlets could also be a big attention grabber for guilds.

The one good thing that was going for Charles when it came to setting up the World Government Guild's place in the entertainment district was the fact that his number one competition was busy elsewhere at the time which made it much easier for the World Government Guild to establish themselves right away. They had several small broadcasting businesses, a couple of stadiums under their control that would be providing venues for big events, and other random promising businesses that Charles was hoping could become major benefits in the future. The alliance still had some people around that were getting involved in the rush to establish stakes in the entertainment districts, but most of the leaders of the alliance were not there to personally get involved.

Outside of the entertainment district Charles was also focused on securing new training areas for members of his guild so that they could get better prepared for the upcoming tournament. There weren't too many guilds with the training facilities that were advanced enough to use the new simulator that the system had created, but the World Government Guild currently had three of them for its members to use. Of course since there were so many members inside of the World Government Guild they had to use it as a resource through the guild instead of just allowing anyone to use it at any time, but it was helping prepare the high level members of the guild for the upcoming tournament and would hopefully prepare them to take on any of the more challenging upcoming expeditions.

The tournament itself took up the rest of Charles attention since it would be a major event that the World Government Guild could use to continue rebuilding their reputation in the hub city. Charles made sure as many members of the guild as possible would join the tournament, even if they were at a lower level. He wasn't foolish enough to think that they'd be able to dominate the event through sheer numbers, but it would show how much influence the guild had depending on how many of the members of the World Government Guild would make it deep into the tournament.

All in all the World Government Guild was preparing to take center stage for the first time under the guidance of Charles and he wanted to leave a big impression. Even Charles himself planned on joining the tournament and going as far as he could. Of course there were other members of the World Government Guild that were thinking along the same line. Charles's own brother was trying to reclaim his place in the guild by showing off in the tournament, but in the end Charles didn't mind. Charles would just have to step on his head to prove who belongs at the top.

At the Raider's Guild there was another group of people that were preparing for the upcoming tournament. Boss was sitting at his desk looking at the information that had been gathered over the past few days of everyone that was joining the tournament. Different people had kept track of all of the people that had shown off their status during the scanning process of registering for the tournament and Boss had made sure to gather that information at all cost before the tournament started. Seven was at his side looking over the information as they categorized the participants in order of threat level and the ones they had more information on they made sure to look into so that all of the high level members of the Raider's guild would know what to do if they ended up fighting them.

Unlike the World Government Guild the Raider's Guild didn't put as much effort into building up the entertainment district. Outside of getting control of one of the broadcasting buildings and a small auditorium they didn't really dip their toes into anything else of importance. Instead Boss had focused on securing a training facility so the high level members of his guild could focus on training for the tournament without having to go to the crowded training hall or to one of the World Government Guild's training facilities. Now that the Raider's Guild had become a large scale guild they needed to make sure that they weren't dependent on the World Government Guild like the Scavenger's Guild had become.

Having a training facility allowed members of the Raider's Guild to get accustomed to fighting in several different situations against powerful beast that not only they fought in the past, but other groups that decided to put their battle records into the system had come across as well. They weren't able to actually fight other people in the simulations so they weren't getting experience in that regard, but honing their senses in combat against powerful foes was always going to be helpful. The boss of the Raider's Guild could only smile as the time for the tournament was only a day away.

During the lead up to the tournament Nathan and Naomi were extremely busy. Not only was there store constantly being filled with customers looking to improve their gear before the tournament, they were also having to fill the void of leadership of the alliance while most of the leaders of the alliance were out on an expedition. This meant they were mostly in control of deciding how much the alliance should get involved with the entertainment district early on. Luckily they took it seriously and did gain some traction in the district.

Overall there were a few key things that Nathan and Naomi made sure to get while helping put together the entertainment district. With the pull the alliance had they were able to get control over one of the large stadiums and rent it out as a venue along with one of the bigger auditoriums as well. This didn't compare to the amount of buildings that the World Government Guild was able to get control over, but it would be extremely helpful in the future. They had also set up plans for different events that would bring popularity to different businesses under the control of the alliance.

Naomi was most excited about the blacksmithing program they were going to have on one of the new networks that the alliance was in control of. Even though the alliance didn't plan on doing nothing but propaganda like the World Government Guild, they still planned on using their new path way of reputation building to do some interesting things. Naomi knew that the show that she was going to be in charge of would grab a lot of attention for their shop and it would also help recruit more black smiths to their guild. At this point Nathan and Naomi already had the best gear shop in town with the lead they had gained early on and this would only improve the gap between them and other stores.

They'd also have other advertisements for Joshua's mother's hospital or some of the restaurants under the umbrella of the alliance. Securing such an opportunity would only help out in the long run. With Nathan and Naomi handling these things it allowed all of the other leaders of the group to prepare for the tournament and take a bit of a break after the long expedition.

There was one other person that was excited for the upcoming tournament that had waited all week before deciding to sign up for it. At this point there weren't too many people around registering for the tournament so it didn't take him very long to get everything in order. Even though there weren't many people around the place anymore the man still stood out to all of the stragglers that were still trying to sign up for the tournament at the last minute. He towered over everyone and had the build of a heavy weight fighter as he strolled forward to the line and waited his turn.

By the time it was his time to get scanned everyone in the area were paying attention to him to see if he would display his stats. When the scanning stopped nothing was displayed outside of one simple thing. His level was a staggering eighty-six which caught everyone by surprise.
