Rise of the Crusader

Chapter 144

144 Value

The atmosphere among the first-year students was quite intense, as each one of them could tell that danger was looming.

And it was only a matter of time before that division came knocking at their door.

The assassin division was the most discrete division in the academy.

It was to the extent that both the students and instructors from other divisions didn’t recognize those who were from the assassin division.

Nor were they aware of where exactly they were based in the academy.

They were always wearing full black robes that masked all of their body. And as it was, apart from the director of the division, and themselves, no other person knew who exactly they were.

However, no one in the academy had ever doubted the strength of the assassin division, not even the elite and murderer division. The both of them considered them as a huge threat.

And at the moment, the assassin division was about to make a move on the six of them.

“You can’t be scared, right?”

.....

Seating on the couch with his legs on the table, Bane said with a sneer on his face.

As Aiden heard Bane, he shook his head several times.

“No, why would I be scared.” He muttered.

Aiden’s voice was however not as convincing as he hoped it would be, and it was replied with a burst of laughter from Bane.

Bane shook his head, “Don’t worry lad, the assassin division would think twice before coming to this place, especially now that I’m here.”

“Hahaha! You...” Aiden couldn’t help but crack up after Bane spoke.

“I’m serious, you would see they won’t be here.” Bane said, folding his hands across his chest.

A chuckle suddenly escaped Devon’s lips.

And seeing, Bane turning towards him, he said, “Who are you fooling.”

“The only reason why you’re here is that no one dares act willfully in this place. Even those people after you don’t dare barge in here.”

“And as for now, the assassin division would also think twice before coming to this place, as the cabal already warned them about it.

“Raphael is off-limit.” Devon blurted.

Bane knitted his brows as Devon spoke and after a few seconds, he spoke.

“It’s the same thing we are saying here, Raphael is off limits, and so am I.”

“The assassin division don’t dare come in here because of Raphael and me. Isn’t that right, Raphael?” Bane moved his gaze to the person in front of him.

Raphael, however, let out a light smile.

The issue of the assassin division wasn’t the most pressing matter at hand for him, as he was a hundred percent that they wouldn’t be able to lay a hand on him.

So, long as he was in the room, he wasn’t even worried about an S-rank metahuman.

Instead, the main issue was the students, he witnessed in the tournament.

It made Raphael realize that he might have underestimated the student in the academy a little.

Even though he had measures prepared to take care of them, he realized that just like him, they also had moves yet to be deployed.

“Do you know anything about Jeremy, other than what he revealed today?” Raphael suddenly asked the three in the room.

Aiden paused as Raphael spoke.

He turned towards Devon and Bane a second after.

“That asshole!” Bane stated.

Bane was one to appreciate an asshole because he was one himself, but Jeremy was considered the king and the worst of all assholes.

There was disgust written all over Bane’s face, and he wasn’t the only one.

As Raphael turned towards Aiden and Devon, he also saw hate evident in their eyes.

This wasn’t the first time that Raphael had seen that look on the three of their faces when Jeremy was brought up, but he hadn’t made much attention to it then.

But what he witnessed in the tournament made him realize that Jeremy was capable of more than what was written in his book.

And he had to pay more attention to that youth.

Suddenly, a knock came on the door.

The expression on Devon’s face changed when he heard the door knock.

He turned towards the others in the room and was about to speak when Bane stood from his seat.

“Relax, it’s probably someone we know.” He said as he walked towards the door.

As Bane got to the door, he held the door handle and said, “I doubt an assassin would take the time to knock on the door instead of simply passing the windows.”

“Not helping, Bane!’ Aiden exclaimed.

With a smile on his face, Bane opened the door.

“Camille, what are you doing here?” Bane asked with shock evident in his voice.

A sneer formed on Camille’s face when she heard Bane.

Even though they all hung out frequently, after the tournament date arrived, Camille was one of the people who chose to keep her distance.

So, seeing, Camille coming to the room, Bane couldn’t help but be surprised.

“The reason you’re here is also why I’m here,” Camille replied.

Bane’s eyes twitched, and he stretched his hand forward, wanting to give Camille a fist bump.

Camille took a glance at Bane and then shook her head.

“So, Camille, what will you be doing after the break?” Bane asked, and before Camille would even respond, his voice rang out again.

“You know, I was thinking since I have a ship in the middle east, how about the both of us cruise around the world.”

“It will be legendary, I can assure you. And this might be one of the stories we tell to our children.”

Bane’s face was full of smiles as he spoke.

Camille knitted her brows, and then her lips curved inwardly.

“Alright then.” She said.

There was a dumbfounded look on Aiden, Devon, and even Raphael’s faces when they heard Camille.

The three of them were already expecting Camille to turn Bane down like she always did, but instead, she seemed to have agreed to what Bane said.

“Oh really?”

A nod came from Camille’s face after Bane spoke.

She then moved a step closer to him, “But, you also know that it’s a have one get five or six situations.”

“If you’re really serious about us, then you would have to be with my companions also.”

The smile on Bane’s face widened.

However, he soon became confused as he recalled that she had mentioned companions along with what she said.

“What do you mean by Compa-” Before Bane would complete his words, five figures appeared in the room.

Three women with arctic white skin, a face that was splattered with blood, and straggly hairs.

The two men who were beside them were of similar features, and their hands were also stretched out.

As soon as the five of them appeared in the room, and in front of him, Bane staggered several steps backward.

With shock, fear, and panic written all over his face, he pointed his hand at Camille who had a huge smile on her face and said.

“Y-You...” Bane stammered at first, and it was only after a few seconds, that he could let out actual words from his mouth.

“What do you think you’re doing?!”

Bane asked, hoping it wasn’t what he was thinking.

A seductive smile appeared on Camille’s face, and she nodded her head.

“Sorry, I made a mistake it does not have one get four free, it has one, get five free.”

Camille winked and then instructed the five undead beside her to move toward Bane.

Without delay, as the undead took a step closer to him, Bane hurried backward. He moved far away that within seconds, he was standing in Devon’s room corridor.

“Hahaha!” Camille laughed out loud.

.....

She held her stomach as she saw Bane retreat with fear and at the same time worry on his face.

It was as though he had encountered what he was terrified of the most.

“Coward,” Camille sneered, and then flicked her finger.

No words were needed to be said, as the undead understood what Camille was implying.

They vanished from the room quickly.

As they left the room, Devon scanned the whole surrounding. His brows were furrowed, and even though he didn’t say the words out, the expression on his face said it all.

“Don’t worry, they are not in the room,” Camille said.

“You’re a psychopath, do you know,” Bane exclaimed.

Camille rolled her eyes at him and then walked over to the couch.

Meanwhile, Raphael was in no mood for any of what was occurring in the room.

His hand was balled into a fist, and after a few seconds, he took a deep breath.

“So, what is it you might know about Jeremy?” He asked in a soft tone.

As Raphael uttered that name out, the expression on Camille’s face became grim instantly. She bit her lower lips hard and then glared at him.

“Was he here?” Camille inquired.

“No!” Raphael responded.

Aiden saw a killing intent flash between Camille’s eyes, and he said, “I think Raphael is just curious about him after all the abilities he displayed in the tournament.”

“Oh, I thought he was here, I would have shredded him into pieces,” Camille said.

And she didn’t seem to be joking as when she asked Raphael if Jeremy was in the room, about seven undead appeared behind her instantly.

“Calm down, woman, you will have to get in the line.” Said, Bane.

“As of now, they are over a thousand people who want to rip him apart, so you will have to hope you get your turn with him.”

For some reason, a smile appeared on Raphael’s face when Bane spoke.

He folded his hand across his chest, and rested his back against the couch, seemingly interested in this Jeremy, everyone hated so much.

As it turns out, Raphael wasn’t the only one who was considered a project for the future by the academy, he was, however, the fourth on the list.

While Jeremy was the second most valuable student in the first year.
