Chapter 76: Academy Entrance Exam (Part-1)
Chronos Magic Academy. The current top rank academy in the continent.
Geniuses of both occupations, magic users and fighters, gathered here from all over the continent. It was said that the academy was older than the Empire and the magic sects, powerful families that were in power and dominated the continent.
Being so old, Chronos Magic Academy had witnessed the rise of many empires and powerhouses, who existed at one point but no longer do.
Owing to its reputation of being the oldest and most influential, nobody dared to challenge the academy or test the depths of its hidden power.
The archives of the academy were its greatest treasure and could only be accessed by their students when making contributions to the academy and getting contribution points in exchange. It was the currency within the academy and was used to exchange for cultivation resources and various other facilities.
Chronos Magic Academy's territory was south-west of the Buraford Kingdom. It owned a one thousand kilometers squared piece of land and shared boundaries with the Chaos Empire, Oman Empire, Romand Kingdom and the Buraford Kingdom.
Many magic users and fighters came every year during July for the entrance exams of the academy and today, Kai was standing at the checking-in point. The academy workers were checking the entrance tickets and the participants were going inside one by one.
"Next."
It was finally Kai's turn. The guard told him to hand over the ticket and after checking it, he returned it.
"After you enter the gate, you will see two paths. Choose the right one and wait with the others until the invigilator arrives."
Kai nodded and entered the gate and turned right as told.
He saw a three-story building made of ordinary stone and beautiful carvings, where lines of people were standing.
Some were excited, some were nervous, while some were talking with others to lighten the mood and get to know each other.
Looking around, Kai noticed that there weren't many participants there, somewhere around 500 people total. All were taking with each other familiarising themselves with each other.
Two guys were taking with each other in a corner wearing leather armour and a sword in their hands from the looks of they were fighter
"Have you heard that previous year only five candidates passed last year and all of them were magic users"
"Are you for real so what are we fighters doing here?"
Hearing the discussion is related with fighters other fighters also joined in.
"Where did you got this information from?"ask a bulky guy among the group.
"I heard it from a magic user who came to attend the entrance last year but failed"
While they were discussing, Kai heard the sound of footsteps and everyone became silent. A middle-aged man with shining white armour and a sword in his hand appeared.
"Good morning to everyone. I welcome you all to the entrance exam of Chronos Magic Academy and I, David Northgate, will be in charge of this year's examination.
The examination will be divided into two parts, the basic and the advanced.
The basic examination will test your body's potential, magic purification test, and mage root for magic users. As for the fighters, they don't have to take the mage root test, instead, they will take a physical strength test.
Meanwhile, the advanced one will test how efficiently you can use your magic power, your control, your foundational knowledge that will be a written test and your magic spell casting as a practical test.
Fighters don't have an advanced test and only have to pass the basic test, but let me tell you, the academy will not take more than 100 fighters, so if your exam results are not within the 100, you will not be accepted. Magic users have no such limitations.
Let me also say beforehand that those who aren't able to pass the basic examination won't take part in the advanced one and will be directly failed.
If you have any questions, you can ask them now before I start with the examination," he explained with a strict expression.
Hearing that, Kai and three others raised their hands.
"You ask first. What is your question?" David pointed at the fatty, who came forward and introduced himself.
"Sir, my name is Yuna Saris and I am from the Alfrine Kingdom. Can you tell us what are the minimum requirements to pass each of the basic magic user tests?"
"You must have at least Earth rank body potential and magic root potential. As for the magic power purification test, one must have 5th grade purity or higher. Any other questions?"
"No, sir, thank you," replied Yuna.
"Next, you may ask," David pointed at the young elegant man.
"Sir, I am Fredrick Thenardier and I want to know why you are limiting the number of fighters while having no magic user limits," asked Fredrick.
David looked at him and smiled. "Friedrick, are you? Rules are unfair for fighters, but the academy has its reasons. For example, after you guys breakthrough through the Magic Warrior stage, many will die, but not in Chronos Magic Academy. We make sure you breakthrough safely and that your magic power doesn't go out of control and lead you to death.
Secondly, most fighters awaken their mage roots, which could be of any rank and have any Magic origin that converts them to magic users with stronger bodies, nothing else. However, these new transcended magic users have no foundations and take a lot of time and resources to convert them into mainstream magic users.
Thirdly, some of you may become battle mages, but we don't know who can and who can't, so investing time to create a foundation and combat training may not result in any results later."
Listening to David's words, Fredrick remained silent and couldn't reply because he wasn't even sure if he could break through to the Magic Warrior stage. What path will he walk down?
"Next," David continued, pointing at Kai.
"Hello, David, I am Kai Seft and is it necessary for a battle mage to take part in the exam?" Kai released his first level Magic Warrior stage magic pressure.
