Chapter 68 - New Team Jersey
Chapter 68 - New Team Jersey
An hour later…
A group of people were stretching out their limbs in the parking lot of a mall.
But weirdly, they all seemed to be wearing a short white sleeveless shirt as if they were sports players and this was their uniform.
Alex straightened out her shirt after inspecting it from top to bottom but something was bothering her.
"What is that weird smell? Is it just me or is there a faint pee smell coming from this shirt?"
"Huh? Mine looks fine?" Xu Meilin looked at hers and muttered, but she also did not seem completely convinced.
Qin Hua quickly turned around, coughing awkwardly as only she knew the truth. [Woof. Whatever. They should just be grateful to me for being so generous!]
Before she could finish the thought, there was another buzzing sound coming from a distance.
Qin Hua bolted into a nearby shadow and ran towards the bloodsucker to take care of it without allowing it anywhere near the group.
[Ding. 1 Level 13 Venomous Vampiric Mosquito killed]
[100 Experience points have been rewarded]
[This is already the 5th one I killed. These guys give good experience points but they are rather troublesome to deal with.]
[I changed my mind. Woof. I hope more of them don't show up.] She circled around the group making sure nothing else was prowling in the darkness.
Meanwhile, everyone prepared to leave and packed all the belongings in the two trucks.
"Where are we even going?" Alex asked worriedly. The streets were still ominously deserted without any sight of police cars or any other human beings.
Lu Chen sighed. "I am also not sure. Maybe Jing city has some sort of government shelter?"
"Let's just drive towards the center and then decide what to do based on how everything looks?"
Everyone agreed and they started getting into the trucks.
Lu Chen, Guan Ye, Alex, and Xu Meilin ended up sticking together as they knew each other better and obviously Qin Hua as well got into the truck after them.
But the other group seemed more reluctant and hesitated without getting in. The others were too nervous to speak up so Luo Zu ended up taking the role of the boss once again.
"Hey. Hey. Wait a minute. This doesn't look right." He knocked on the exterior of the truck, calling everyone to get back down.
"What happened now?" Lu Chen asked and Qin Hua let out a low threatening growl.
Having everyone looking at him, made Luo Zu also nervous. Nevertheless, he was not planning to let this go.
"You all cannot leave together in the same truck. Then what if we got separated?"
"So what if we got separated?" Lu Chen took a step forward and asked.
"Boss. Come on. Don't be like this. You all are much stronger than we are. Can we not just mix together and leave?" Luo Zu bit his lips and replied.
"Did I ask you to not get stronger?" Lu Chen shot back ruthlessly.
He did not mind helping these people but in the end, he still prioritized Su Yan and the two girls above these strangers whom they just met.
"This… We don't have abilities as you do… Otherwise…" Luo Zu did not complete his sentence but everyone knew what he meant. These people just got lucky so it was not fair for them to act so arrogantly.
Lu Chen, however, only chuckled at the man. "Before today, have you given any money or good clothes to a beggar?"
"Did you regularly make donations to charity to make sure everyone was taken care of?"
"But that was before" Luo Zu opened his mouth but Lu Chen quickly shut him up. "How is that any different? That was money and this is power."
"This world has always been the same. You need to be responsible and take care of yourself. No one else is going to do that for you."
"Now I suggest that you stop arguing with me and get onto the truck. Drive the vehicle to the best of your abilities and stick close to us."
"Otherwise, I wish you good luck." Lu Chen shrugged and got back into the truck.
Qin Hua nuzzled her head against his back, giving him her version of a pat in the back. [Woof! That's how it should be! Take that you leeches!]
The others once again got back in and Luo Zu could only dumbfoundedly scratch his head.
"What are you all waiting for? Didn't you hear the man? Go. Get onto the truck. Otherwise, they will leave us here itself." He shouted at the others.
The three men Qiang, Luo Zu, and Yuan, and the two women, Ziyali and Caiyang got into the truck one by one.
No matter how demeaning Lu Chen's words were, they still couldn't afford to be separated from their group, so everyone quickly got on.
But…
"Does someone know how to drive this fucking thing?" Luo Zu shouted, but no one answered him. There was only dead silence in the truck.
"Useless. Absolutely useless. You are all so useless!" He scoffed.
"Fine. Fine. I will drive this damn thing myself. Who is going to question me even if I run over something! Hmph!"
He pushed the controls brashly and started the engine, the truck suddenly sputtering to life.
Parked beside them, Guan Ye smoothly operated the first truck as he had prior experience driving these bigger vehicles. He had driven quite a few trips before as a part of his restaurant job.
Soon the two trucks roared loudly and they started moving out of the parking lot onto the main road, with one of the trucks driving in a smooth straight fashion while the other one zig-zagging and barely holding on.
However, Luo Zu somehow managed to bring it under control and both the vehicles continued down the empty road.
As everyone looked around here and there nervously, trying to spot someone or some sort of help, Qin Hua alone had her eyes glued onto the sky up above.
There was a huge cloud at a distance, but weirdly the cloud seemed to be visibly moving… moving at a speed faster than clouds typically did…
