Chapter 607: Chapter 581: Lockdown and Embarrassment
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you both with my words. Please don’t be angry,” Yu Liumei apologized to the shop assistant, realizing she had been talking carelessly while standing on their turf.
“Liumei, give the phone to the Shopping Guide!” Yu Minglang urged.
“Ok, wait a moment.” Yu Liumei thought to herself that just because she had said a few unkind words, it didn’t mean her cousin should have to apologize as well.
“Is Liu Shasha one of your shop assistants?” Yu Minglang asked.
“No, she works at the stall next to us, selling dolls. She hasn’t been to work for more than ten days, and we can’t contact her. Her boss is furious. What is your relationship with her?” the shop assistant asked.
“Have you lost any towels in your shop recently?” Yu Minglang continued to inquire.
“Don’t even mention it! We’ve lost over ten towels, and the store manager almost went crazy during inventory. If we can’t find out what’s going on, we’ll all have to pay for the losses. How did you know about this?”
“I can try to help you avoid paying for the losses, but you have to cooperate with my questions.”
“Please go ahead!” The shop assistant had been worried sick about the inventory discrepancies for the past few days, and immediately perked up when they heard they didn’t have to pay for the loss.
“I want to ask, is your brand only available in this shop?”
“Only one store in the province, but there are several in other major cities.”
“Does Liu Shasha have any friends or family working as a security guard in your shopping mall, especially night shift security guards?”
“I think her father works as a night security guard for our mall. There are a few older men who take turns checking the place at night.”
“When did the towels go missing?”
“About ten days ago. We had just finished inventory a couple of days before, and everything added up. Then suddenly, so many towels were missing, it’s driving us crazy.”
The timing mentioned by the shop assistant coincided with Liu Shasha’s death, and Yu Minglang understood what had happened.
When the shop assistant noticed that Yu Minglang had hung up the phone, she turned to Yu Liumei with a puzzled expression.
“Who is that person? How did he know about the missing towels?”
Yu Liumei blinked her eyes. Although she didn’t know why her cousin was asking these questions, she knew that her cousin had a special identity and shouldn’t reveal some things carelessly, as it would cause trouble for their family.
“I have no idea. Hey, by the way, you have great skin. Do you like braised pork?” Yu Liumei abruptly changed the subject, and her blunt manner got her chased out of the store by the assistant.
She didn’t mind being chased away, as long as she didn’t cause any trouble or spill any secrets for her cousin.
Yu Minglang hung up the phone, and Lin Zeguang came in with dark circles under his eyes, a result of staying up all night investigating.
“My old classmate, we’ve investigated the matter you asked us to check. Liu Shasha, the victim, went to the mall that night to deliver food to her father, who was working there. Her father was the one guarding the place, which means we are back to square one with the investigations.”
“No, the investigation is not at a dead end. We have already found a major clue. Send someone immediately to the well-known farmhouse at Xiaojiao Mountain Scenic Area and bring Wang Zhiming, the son of the family who runs that farmhouse, back for questioning.”
Lin Zeguang’s mouth formed an ‘O’ in surprise, “Why?”
Just based on a seemingly irrelevant clue, they were able to identify a suspect? That’s incredible!
“Because the purpose of Liu Shasha’s visit to the mall that night was not only to deliver food to her father but also to get some stolen goods from him. And that item was an imported towel only sold at the Baiyun counter in Lin City! When my fiancée and I were on vacation, we bought some of these towels at a farmhouse at a very low price. Bring Wang Zhiming back here. Even if he isn’t a suspect, he has at least been to the crime scene!”
The towels went missing on the day the victim was attacked, and during the time before Liu Shasha was discovered, the towels vanished without a trace. Wang Zhiming possessing so many towels was extremely suspicious!
Yu Minglang led his team to arrest Wang Zhiming, intending to bring him back for questioning.
In Yu Minglang’s mind, Wang Zhiming’s timid and low-self-esteem personality didn’t seem like that of a suspect who would dare scratch someone’s face. But since he was somehow related to the case, Yu Minglang decided to proceed with the arrest and see what happened.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qian had arrived at the agreed-upon location and was surprised to see the client Shuixian had introduced to her.
Shuixian had previously introduced Xiao Qian to a patient with Borderline Personality Disorder, but Xiao Qian hadn’t decided whether to take on the case since Yu Minglang was in town.
Now that Yu Minglang wasn’t around and she had free time, she decided to meet the patient. After assessing their condition, she would then decide the pricing and treatment plan.
The agreed-upon location was a coffee shop under the shopping mall. Shuixian said the person would be wearing a black suit and have a copy of “Zhiyin” magazine on the table.
Xiao Qian wore a red shirt and black wide-leg pants, and both of them used clothing to identify each other.
In the coffee shop, there was only one man wearing a suit, who looked very young and had the air of a wealthy second-generation. But what shocked Xiao Qian was the woman in a white dress sitting next to this man, and there was a book on their table.
“Baby, I’m definitely going to fix this. Don’t worry, it won’t happen again.” The man in the black suit reassured his female companion.
“Can you really be cured?” the woman asked.
“Yes, my family says the doctor is young but has treated many people already. It’s not a big issue, and I don’t have a mental illness, just a slight psychological issue. Baby, please don’t leave me!”
As the couple were talking, they suddenly noticed someone picking up the magazine they had left for identification. They looked up and were both stunned.
“Meiwei?”
“Ye Xiaoyu?”
Ye Xiaoyu was the high school classmate who secretly admired Yu Minglang, played basketball with him, and was the radio station host whose ulterior motives were seen through by Xiao Qian.
Both of them had a strong dislike for each other, partly because of professional rivalry and partly because both of them liked Yu Xiaoqiang.
However, Xiao Qian never expected that Ye Xiaoyu would be the girlfriend of the patient, Li Jia, who Shuixian had introduced her to. Ye Xiaoyu was dating a man with Borderline Personality Disorder while still coveting Xiao Qian’s man.
Xiao Qian thought this behavior was equivalent to playing with fire and would eventually backfire.
“Are you Li Jia?” Xiao Qian asked the man.
Her gaze shifted between the man and Ye Xiaoyu. A woman with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder for makeup and a man with Borderline Personality Disorder together was quite a deadly combination.
Borderline Personality Disorder was very difficult to treat, often dubbed a psychologist killer. Most doctors were unwilling to take on such cases because of the high difficulty.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. My friend is not sick. We have other things to do, so we’re leaving!” Ye Xiaoyu’s face turned pale and bluish.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
She never thought that Li Jia’s psychologist would turn out to be her least favorite person, Meiwei!
This was quite awkward!
