Chapter 41: My Queen!
"With how the previous wedding attempt ended, you really got the courage to marry your daughter to me? There must be a disease going around these parts. Why are you all trying to put rings on my fingers?" Mithras couldn't believe it—scratching his head in confusion.
Following his miraculous recovery, Gaiseric had pretty much gone insane, going from one demented decree to another.
First, he had all the nobles who had conspired to end Mithras' life jailed for high treason, confiscating their properties and transferring them to Mithras.
Second, he gave his late wife's assets, which had mostly been inherited by Lysander, to Mithras—making it so that Mithras' land and territories were now as large as a duke's.
And third, he canceled his daughter's engagement, offering to marry her to Mithras.
Without a doubt, these were the effects of the Great Blood Emperor destiny. But though he knew that control over the Great Blood Destiny would eventually lead the various factions of the Purple Dawn to work for him, Mithras never expected Gaiseric to outright turn into his backer!
Thankfully, Mithras wasn't interested in the Blood Smelting Throne, or Gaiseric would be literally taking steps to help his competitor overthrow him.
Meanwhile, Cassandra sat in the adjacent study, organizing recent gains while, unbeknown to Gaiseric, Honoria was slurping on Mithras' cock underneath the table.
"You are the perfect son-in-law! Mithras, I dare say that my eye for talent is first and without equal, and from the moment I'd first seen you, I knew you were destined to become a giant of this world. Only a man of your caliber is worthy of the apple of my eye, those bastards be damned! You will marry Celestia and join the royal family as my son-in-law!" Gaiseric left no room for compromise.
"Incredible. First of all, forcing a woman into marriage is almost always a bad idea. Best case scenario, you get cucked. Worst-case scenario, you get poisoned to death and she lives off your wealth with her lover. I want to be the lover in this scenario, not the poisoned husband. So, betrothing me to your daughter after ruining the engagement she herself agreed to doesn't seem like a good deal to me.
Would be better if you just left things at that and gave me a fair chance to fu…I mean earn her love proper," Mithras said in a serious tone, making Gaiseric close his eyes as he considered the proposal.
"Son-in-law, that does feel more...appropriate."
"Of course it does. Also, under no circumstances should you praise me in front of your daughter. Teenage girls nowadays can't appreciate a guy approved by their old man."
"Wrong. That only applies to hormonal teenage girls. My Celestia is a flawless diamond and can't be compared to those petty lasses. The only reason she wouldn't approve of you is that she is convinced I only like rogues, thugs, and other types of scoundrels."
"Reasonable. But let's not take the risk. I have a feeling that having you as my wingman is a terrible idea."
Renowned as the number one beauty of the region, Celestia was no doubt irresistible. So irresistible in fact that she got her fiancé murdered.
It happened during the week. Ulric, Arian's half-brother and Celestia's fiancé, was poisoned to death by his servants—dying from dysentery, a tragic ending.
He was Celestia's 22nd fiancé in the past four years. And the only one who didn't get his head bitten off or his dick cut off during his sleep. Sadly, even after dodging a variety of assassination attempts, Ulric still lost his life.
There was even a story of a past fiancé who demanded to marry Celestia the same day they got engaged, but still ended up getting his head bitten off about 30 minutes after signing the engagement contract.
And he thought he was slick.
Two reasons explain this unusual string of murders. First, due to a secret arrangement between the houses of Elektra and Uriah, Celestia's maternal grandfather and Cassandra's dad, the dying Duke of Elektra, was the one selecting the fiancés—leading to them getting savagely offed by Gaiseric, Lysander, and all the men who wouldn't allow their rivals to win the goddess' booty.
Yet, thousands more waited in line, all yearning for an opportunity to kiss the goddess' bottom cheeks—even at the risk of their young lives. This couldn't be helped as, according to the system, the Purple Dawn Continent only had three women who possessed divine charm by default. And Celestia was one of them.
That level of attractiveness unlocked mystical powers, outright messing with the mind of members of the opposite sex unless they too possessed divine charm—something that in the Spiritual World, only Mithras possessed among the males—at the moment at least.
So now you're wondering, why did Gaiseric have to veto a marriage to a dead man? Simple. House Astalon hadn't yet announced Ulric's death, hoping to first secure another Astalon replacement for Celestia's hand.
"Fine! I won't praise you in front of my girl. I barely see her anyway. She is currently a five-star recruit at the Jade-Faced Academy," Gaiseric sighed, inwardly enraged that because of the queen and the dying Duke of Elektra, he'd gotten so estranged from his own daughter that he now had to abuse royal power to have a say in who she married.
It was almost as bad as having been castrated by his queen on their wedding night.
"I secured you a three-star recruit evaluation. You can either go in as a three-star or use your Sid level to force your way in as an unranked student. Your choice. But remember, not only is the headmistress of the Red Cloud Theocracy there, but there is also a solid chance that the Angra Theocracy has agents on site.
Going in as anything above a three-star will draw the kind of attention you might want to avoid—especially when you're dispatched to the Sanctuary. Tragedies are common over there, you will get kidnapped, enslaved, experimented on, or murdered. Sometimes all in one day." The king didn't sugarcoat it.
In recent years, the Jade-Faced Academy had accumulated extraordinary wealth and prestige, becoming a gathering place for the continent's elite, and the only academy to train both templars and gurus.
Things had reached a point that now, some of the theocracies had their elite students study in the Jade-Faced Academy for about five years, with the Jade-Faced Academy's degree becoming a staple of excellence recognized by all throughout the continent.
"Oh, the queen will be there too—not in the open, but she will be there. Be careful with her. On the surface, she is connected to various powers, but in truth, Elektra is her own faction—has been that way since she first unlocked her abilities.
She is Celestia's Spiritual Guide and a warlock you do not want to mess with. I'm serious, son-in-law. Half of Celestia's fiancés have been murdered by the queen.
She is not evil but has no kindness in her heart for disloyal and lustful men. You clearly aren't either one. But if your hands get too close to where they shouldn't, she will not give you a chance to prove yourself before cutting off your dick.
Also, try not to irritate her. She is a very patient person but goes from zero to one hundred in a finger snap," Gaiseric said, and despite his warnings, couldn't hide the profound and infinite love he had for Queen Elektra.
"Future father-in-law, why do I feel like there is enormous love and respect for the queen in your voice? Isn't she the one who terminated your ability to perform in the bedroom?" Confused by how fondly Gaiseric spoke about the woman who not only turned him into a eunuch, but made sure no healer could restore him, Mithras asked.
The king's reply made everything clear.
"Being eunuched by Elektra was the good fortune of a lifetime. If I could recover my balls and stick, I would drop my pants without delay and let my queen cut them off all over again—this time with a radiant smile."
