Chapter 313: Dream, Memories
Chapter 313: Dream, Memories
After parking the truck in the parking area, Long Yu carried Yao Ran straight to the infirmary. It was three in the morning, and the shelter was silent, with everyone still asleep.
Placing Yao Ran on a hospital bed, Long Yu quickly took out the remaining lake water from his backpack and fed it to her. Thankfully, this time, she could swallow without assistance.
Once the water was gone, Long Yu held her hand, feeling helpless. He had no medical expertise and could only anxiously watch over her. Staring at his unconscious girlfriend, he sat beside her, his eyes red.
Tightening his grip on her cold hand, he whispered, "Ran Ran, nothing can happen to you. I can't lose you again."
While Long Yu was taking care of her, Yao Ran was in the middle of a long dream.
She dreamed of her past life, recalling her time in the village with her adoptive grandparents before meeting her biological grandfather.
Just when she wanted to hug her adoptive grandparents, Yao Ran's dream shifted to the years spent in the laboratory and her time working like a slave for Lan Guanghui and his family.
In the dream, Yao Ran stood on the sidelines, watching the events unfold as if she were watching a movie.
Unlike before, when her dreams of the past filled her with fear and a desire for revenge, this time, Yao Ran remained calm. She silently observed the torment and suffering she had endured.
When the dream reached the moment she escaped the laboratory, only to be surrounded by guards, it suddenly shattered, and she woke up.
"Gasp!"
Before she could gather her thoughts, she saw Long Yu's worried face hovering over her. "Ran Ran, are you alright? Do you know who I am?" he asked anxiously.
Yao Ran, still dazed, frowned slightly and replied, "A Yu, what happened to me?" Relieved to hear her question, Long Yu pulled her into a tight hug. He hugged her for a long time before asking in a trembling voice, "Do you know you almost scared me to death?"
Yao Ran felt something warm dampen her shoulder and realized it was Long Yu's tears. Gently patting his back, she whispered, "I'm sorry."
Long Yu shook his head, took a deep breath to compose himself, and released her. Looking into her eyes, he asked, "Ran Ran, how do you feel? Does your head still hurt?"
Yao Ran shook her head and wiped away his tears. Seeing the exhaustion on his face, her heart ached.
"You should also take care of yourself," she said softly.
Lowering his eyes, Long Yu looked aggrieved but said nothing. Breaking the silence, Yao Ran asked, "A Yu, what time did we get here?"
"Three o'clock in the morning," he replied.
Glancing at Long Yu's watch, Yao Ran saw it was already noon. "A Yu, I want to take a bath," she said.
"Alright," he agreed.
With that, he carried her out of the infirmary. As they passed through the main hall, everyone turned their attention to them. Seeing Yao Ran in Long Yu's arms, Shi Xuan and the others hurried over.
"Yao Ran, how are you?" Jia Xiang asked with concern clear in her eyes.
Smiling faintly, Yao Ran replied, "I'm fine, just a little weak."
Everyone let out a sigh of relief after hearing her answer. Sima Chennan, noticing her pale complexion, added, "Auntie, I hope you will get better sooner."
Yao Ran smiled at the boy and said, "Thank you, Nan Nan."
Long Yu, seeing her fatigue, said to the others, "Thank you, everyone. Ran Ran is fine now. It's already lunchtime. You should all go and eat first."
Everyone nodded and left after noticing Yao Ran's tired face. Resting her head on Long Yu's shoulder, Yao Ran closed her eyes and soon fell asleep. This time, her sleep was peaceful and dreamless.
Back in her bedroom, Long Yu gently laid her on the bed. He removed her shoes, socks, and jacket before fetching warm water and a towel.
Sitting beside her, he carefully wiped her face, neck, arms, and hands, ensuring she was clean. After washing her feet, he tucked her in with a thin blanket and went to shower.
Returning to her side, Long Yu climbed into bed and hugged her from behind. Exhausted from the long drive and sleepless night, he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
The next morning, Yao Ran woke up wrapped in warmth. Before opening her eyes, she caught the familiar scent of Long Yu. As she moved slightly, she realized an arm was draped around her waist.
Startled, she opened her eyes and looked down, recognizing Long Yu's arm. Turning around, she saw his sleeping face. She stared at him in silence before recalling how she'd fallen asleep the previous day.
Calming herself, Yao Ran carefully lifted his arm and tried to slip out of bed. Before she could get out of bed, Long Yu pulled her back.
"Ran Ran, it's still early. Let's sleep a little longer," he murmured in a hoarse, lazy voice.
Blushing, Yao Ran cleared her throat. "I need to use the bathroom," she said.
Long Yu opened his eyes and saw her flushed face. After staring at her for a moment, he leaned
in and kissed her.
"Go then," he said with a smile.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Yao Ran nodded and headed to the bathroom. While she was inside, Long Yu got up and tidied the bed.
When Yao Ran returned, he said, "Ran Ran, I left the antiques in the truck. We can pick them up after breakfast."
Remembering the boxes of antiques she had purchased earlier, Yao Ran nodded. "Alright."
After Long Yu had washed up, they headed to the dining room together. As soon as they stepped inside, Huang Zhihui noticed them and approached Yao Ran with a tray of food.
"Elder Sister Yao Ran, how are you feeling? Are you feeling better?" she asked, her eyes scanning Yao Ran from head to toe.
