My beast Emperor System

Chapter 18: First spell; Wind Rider (2)

Chapter 18: First spell; Wind Rider (2)

Arriving at the open field, Hex and Lucien decided to wait a bit as they watched people practice. Since they refused to take the Grimoire, they assumed it would be best if they get a general understanding of how it works by observing instead of acting.

"This is just mere attacks Imagine giving life to a spell That is the true beauty of magic" A voice was heard beside them.

Shooting a glance to their side, they realized it was Lenard who was speaking. These people failed to understand why he was suddenly trying to strike off a conversation or why he's not practicing but they chose to ignore him and continue.

"And yes, I am not practicing because this class is not for me I am just here to watch over my sister since I have some free time" Lenard said again but Hex and Lucien remained silent.

Using the grimoire and following the instructions there, students began using the most casual spells like conjuring a fist-sized fireball, pulling out chunks of rock from the ground, spitting out a minor amount of water from their mouths or palms. Everything they had seen so far is basic and this is the main reason they refused to use the grimoire.

When creating magic, a strong imagination is needed and according to Lucien's beliefs, a grimoire kills it. It's the easy way out and in reality, nothing comes easy! Lucien and Hex strongly believe this will greatly affect their cultivation in the future!

"What do you plan to do now? You don't seem willing to create a spell of your own in this class?" Lucien shot Hex a glance as he spoke, completely ignoring Lenard who was standing beside him.

"Nope... I intend to create my first spell using the knowledge of the creation path, after which I will try to weaponized with my knowledge of the war mage class So, I suggest you go first" Hex said with a charming smile on his face.

"What about you, what do you plan to do?" Lenard leaned closer as he asked.

"What the heck man! Fuck off!" Lucien complained as he shoved the human aside.

Since he openly rejected the grimoire with really 'strong' words, Instructor Emma and a few other students were waiting to see what he had in mind. Thinking back on all he has been through and what he considered most important in a battle, Lucien began envisioning what his dream spell would be like.

With his eyes shut tight, Lucien was surrounded by darkness and silence. In his own opinion and according to the Raizen way of fighting, speed is the most important. Why struggle to fight a powerful foe by exchanging blows when you can kill them without them knowing it. Creating wings made of wind to grant him flight and speed would have been perfect but at his current level, Lucien felt this is way beyond his capabilities.

{Something simple but effective Something fast but stable! SOMETHING ONLY ME CAN DO!} Lucien thought.

_______

He remained silent, with his eyes shut tight for close to half an hour without noticing. By this time, everyone who chose to use a grimoire had gotten a good grip over their new spell of choice, meanwhile, the few that chose to go without it were yet to make any significant progress and they have given up on creating a spell, at least for the day.

During this time, Instructor Emma paid close attention to Lucien hoping to see something amazing from the kid who shattered the affinity testing orb and talked down Instructor Han, a powerful spatial mage. She had completely ignored everyone around them and focused on Lucien since she wanted to see for herself if this kid's, potential is as great as people say.

Thinking back on the records of the academy's past, those who chose to create their spells without the aid of a grimoire all turned out as outstanding students with amazing potential. These people were sorted highly by the empire. This secret was not revealed to the students since they believed confidence and talent must go together and should not be forced.

If her memories were still on point, Instructor Emma could remember that the most talented mage to have ever stepped foot in this academy needed three days to create a new spell from scratch. This was considered incredibly fast and thinking back on this, Instructor Emma couldn't tell why she was expecting more from a kid she had only heard of. Was she expecting this kid to surpass the man whom they referred to as the war god? The only human whom they considered to be on par with the Phoenix beast emperor of the Fotia empire!

At that time, he was their only human, and the humans dreamed of the day when this man would challenge the beast emperor, defeat him and make humans the dominant race in this empire.

"How could I compare a kid to that man! Was I thinking too hard? Was I expecting too much? What was I expecting?" Emma mumbled while gazing at Lucien who was still as a statue.

That's enough. The time for this class is over, let's go!" Emma ordered after another five minutes had gone by and no change.

At this moment she felt relief and disappointment as well. She wasn't sure why she was expecting so much from Lucien after all the stories she heard of him, but she was happy it didn't happen. In her opinion, a second beast emperor was not needed!

____

The students began packing and many had started heading towards the teleportation platforms when they felt a strong wind blow towards them from behind. Turning their attention to the source of the wind, they realized Lucien, Hex, and Lenard were yet to move.

Underneath Lucien's feet was a silver magic array with each of the star points connecting slowly. The wind around him was so fierce that Hex and Lenard were forced to retreat in a bid to avoid getting caught in it since they didn't know what kind of spell Lucien was trying to create.

"Impossible!" Instructor Emma muttered as she watched in disbelief. She didn't expect this to happen and she was soon overwhelmed by fear!

Gazing at Lucien's levitating figure, everyone noticed the star points connection completely, creating a strong gust of wind to blow around Lucien.

Bam!

Following the loud sound, Lucien's eyes yanked open violently, revealing a silver glow!

"Wind magic: Wind rider!" Lucien growled as a wheel of wind formed beneath his feet!
