Chapter 37: Qiao Yingzi Begs, “Su Bai, Please Help Me~ Mua!”

“Yingzi, Su Bai, you’re back! Oh, Yidi came along too,” Song Qian greeted them warmly.

“Teacher Song, we’ll settle it like we agreed. My daughter will come by later for tutoring,” Wang Yidi’s mum said, clearly pleased.

Not long after they arrived, Wang Yidi’s mother realised it wasn’t appropriate to linger, especially with dinner approaching. She knew Song Qian was already preparing dinner and didn’t want to impose further.

“Alright, see you later, Su Bai,” Wang Yidi’s mum said, ready to leave.

“Bye, Auntie,” Su Bai replied politely, waving. He didn’t want to offend her, knowing she could spread word of the tutoring sessions to boost Song Qian’s reputation.

As they left, Song Qian brought the dishes to the table. “Come, it’s time to eat.”

Unlike before, when dinner was just medicinal soup, Song Qian now made proper meals. With Su Bai around, she couldn’t serve only light dishes, so she prepared hearty meals each evening. Some of the dishes were ones Yingzi had never tasted before.

Song Qian herself ate sparingly to maintain her figure, leaving Su Bai and Yingzi to enjoy the meal.

“Su Bai, did you invite Wang Yidi’s mum here?” Yingzi asked, curious.

“Nope, it wasn’t me. She just wanted a free ride, but I turned it around and got a meal out of it. I didn’t expect her to actually follow through and show up,” Su Bai chuckled. “By the way, Aunt Song, when is Yidi starting her lessons?”

“Every day,” Song Qian replied.

“Every day?”

“Yes, seven days a week.”

“Wow, she’s really going all out,” Su Bai mused, impressed.

“Su Bai, it’s impossible to tutor just in physics for gaokao. There’s more to it,” Yingzi pointed out.

“Don’t worry about it. I’ve got it covered,” Su Bai reassured her.

Since Wang Yidi’s mum was so determined, Su Bai knew he had to help her improve, especially if Song Qian’s tutoring business was to flourish.

“Alright, but make sure your studies don’t suffer,” Song Qian warned.

“I know, Aunt Song. I’ve got it under control,” Su Bai said confidently.

Satisfied, Song Qian didn’t press further.

After dinner, Yingzi approached Su Bai. “Su Bai, there’s a maths problem I can’t figure out. Can you explain it and share your thought process?”

Su Bai immediately sensed she had an ulterior motive. “Alright, come to my room.”

Both rooms were soundproofed to avoid distractions during tutoring sessions. Su Bai’s, however, had no windows, making it ideal for private conversations.

“Let me grab my test papers,” Yingzi said, dashing to her room.

Seeing this, Song Qian felt pleased. Her daughter’s determination was growing, thanks to Su Bai. She was hopeful that Yingzi’s score could soar past 700 in the exams.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Back in the room, Su Bai lounged on his bed. “Alright, what do you need?”

“You promised to take me out, remember?”

“Yeah, I did. How about tomorrow?” Su Bai offered casually.

Yingzi’s expression softened. “Actually, I have a more important request. I used to work as a guide at the planetarium, and they’ve asked me to do a bilingual tour tomorrow.” She hesitated, then added, “If I tell Mum, she won’t agree. So, could you help me sneak out?”

Understanding the gravity of her request, Su Bai met her gaze. “Alright, I’ll help. Tomorrow, I’ll take you on my bike. Your mum won’t suspect a thing.”

Elated, Yingzi leaned in and kissed Su Bai on the cheek. “Thank you, Su Bai! You’re the best!”

Yingzi’s excitement was palpable. This tour was crucial to her, and Su Bai’s support meant everything.

“I’ll practise my script in your room, so just do your thing,” she said, settling in. “And since you studied abroad, can you check my English?”

Su Bai sighed but picked up the script, ready to help.
