Chapter 248 IS IT SO HARD?
"Just tell me if your soul's alright. OKAY? IS IT SO HARD? Why can't you do that?!" Reol'ran hissed. "You could have just said it and I wouldn't have been tearing my hair out! I hate you!"
"Well, you are not cute when you doubt me."
"I don't want to be cute!"
"Say I love you and that you want a kiss, and I won't do it next time."
"Go play that trick on your scientist." She said, rubbing her forehead. "You twatfaced brat."
"Say it."
"Get lost!"
"Say it. I was clever this time. I didn't even have to reveal Clown's Circus. Didn't need to eat the Armor without any prep either."
"You could have told me instead of keeping me in the dark!"
"Say it and I will tell you next time when I am doing something you can't predict."
Reol'ran stayed silent for a while. She was still pissed, and not at all truly calm. That battle had lasting consequences on Mark. But it was true. He couldn't have avoided the soul attack, and what he did was indeed the cleverest choice.
He didn't have to eat the Armor, nor did he have to reveal Clown's Circus to prying eyes.
Reol'ran realized she wasn't angry, she was just frustrated. She was becoming useless to him, and in fact, a burden holding him back. He was closing in on her own level, too. Today, he had murdered a Tier 3 and stolen a decent ability.
In a tomorrow soon to come, he might do that with a Tier 4. Of course, if he lived long enough that is.
I need to find a way to unseal my main body, she realized.
Being an incapable burden? She could never accept that.
…
Mark landed on the ground beside the fallen eagle. It was poisoned with Yuri's Mask-of-the-Savage-enhanced Shadow Curse. He put the giant Eagle into his World Space first.
Of course, he did that only after using Alchemic Shapeshifting to turn the bird into a boneless bird that was barely alive. Maimed things wouldn't cause violence.
He rubbed Yuri's head and she looked up with a smug expression. It was an easier battle than they expected. Mark smiled at her and looked into the horizon. More enemies were coming.
He nodded and absorbed Yuri into his World Space before taking off in a flight.
Reol'ran's elegant voice echoed in Mark's mind: "I'd… let you kiss me. Once."
"What is this? A charity?" he complained.
"Get lost if you don't want it."
"I didn't say that."
While on the flight, Mark entered his World Space and teleported beside the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. White hair, regal, elegant, and cool. She looked at his soul, surrounded here and there with a bunch of ants.
Mark also examined it.
No ant came above his torso but the rest wasn't a pretty sight.
"Will it hurt you if I touch you?" Mark asked.
Sitting on a boulder, Reol'ran looked to the side, a red shade on her face. "I am not a soul, this is just my Will created using an ability. My soul and body are sealed. Since that is a soul attack—it is harmless to me."
Mark wrapped his hand around her waist and his forehead met hers. She closed her eyes. His lips caressed her lips.
Only his soul could interact with her Will physically, and he loved to kiss her the most out of anyone. Her kiss tasted different. She was addicting.
After a few minutes of his tongue entering her mouth to play a game with her tongue, she pushed him away and elegantly straightened herself.
"Your soul is in a state of constant damage and healing," she said. "From now on, you will always have black blood leaking from you. That will make things difficult—"
"One more," he said, closing his face to hers and pushing her onto the boulder.
She felt her will to resist falter. And Mark got his way with her once more—this time longer—until both the woman's Will and the man's Soul were almost completely bonded into one.
They had unparalleled compatibility. Supreme chemistry.
Soulmates made in heaven.
"Are you not eating the Armor?" she asked, voice lacking her usual edge. She herself was a bit miffed at how submissive it sounded.
"Have you noticed it?" Mark asked, looking at the ants in his soul.
"Yep…" she said, trying to touch the ants but failing. "We got bested again. It's as if all of our plans are predicted."
Mark nodded. "I planned to have as many Dream Gambles as possible, but I have a feeling this soul issue was sent to make that impossible," he said. "I think this was another deliberate scheme against us. That Eagle Youth, whatever his name, was just a chess piece for the River to destroy my plan."
"We will have to confirm if you can use Dream—"
Mark kissed her again while pretending to be deep in thought. She pretended the same. She couldn't think of anything other than the kiss.
Damn you, Reol'ran thought. Reol'ran, Reol'ran, you call yourself a warrior with experience that dwarfs Mark. Yet, look at you. Legs becoming noodles at just this. So embarra—
Oh!
He was groping her butt?
Reol'ran hesitated for a second before deciding to take her dignity back.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
She slapped his hand away.
"You destroyed the immediate threat, but there is more to do," she said. "We don't know what kind of World we are in, even. Go, don't waste time."
Mark reluctantly looked at her, then nodded and vanished. But not before stealing another peck from her cherry lips.
She sighed.
Cute. Embarrassing, but cute.
She wouldn't mind another few kisses.
Her eyes widened as he appeared again and left after another brief peck on her lips. She could feel the moistness in her mouth. She touched her lips and sighed, then smiled.
Cuter. The other wenches don't deserve him, she came to realize.
Twatface.
Mark opened his eyes to the real world and moved through the air faster. He could see shadows of flying ships all around, far away as they may be.
"Yuri, how was the fight with a Tier 3?" he asked, bringing the scientist into his arms.
"Easy. Guess they were just noise."
"Nah, the youth could have been much deadlier. He is just all kinds of weird, though. If he had his shit together, we might be in a much worse situation."
"Is the black blood alright?" Yuri asked, raising his jaw with a hand and observing. "You are bleeding so much."
Mark sighed. He was losing memories every second, though they got replaced by the Puppet right after. And this animated effect of black blood was going to be annoying. But how the fuck was he to get rid of the ants?
They seemed to be using his own memories as energy to function.
"It's fine," Mark said.
Silently, he moved through the air.
"I love you," Reol'ran said, clearing her throat. "And that was really clever. Good job. Don't keep me in the dark next time."
