Chapter 206 Diablo's Wrath
Four kilometers away from the center of the battle, the infantry group of USSF observed everything unfolding from a distance. The golden spectacle before them was clear, and everyone couldn't help but admit that the power of the Vatican was beyond their expectations. They now realized the immense power that was capable of purging nations during the crusades era.
But amidst the awe of everyone in the group, one particular individual appeared tired and exhausted.
"Hey, John, are you alright?" asked a dark-skinned man, expressing concern for his tired companion.
"I'm fine, just really tired from all those shock-waves," he replied, his voice reflecting his weariness.
But in reality, he had been struggling to preserve his own life. The explosive holy power, despite not being directed at him, had nearly reduced him to ashes. The only reason he had managed to endure for this long was due to a special artifact that had been prepared specifically for him.
It became evident that Evangeline had taken every possible factor into consideration.
Unfortunately, he could also sense that the artifact was losing its power. He needed to complete his mission at all costs. He observed Diablo's relentless struggle against the binding chains, realizing that time was running out.
If he didn't act quickly, Diablo would be defeated before they could succeed in their plan. But how could he get close to him? He considered sprinting , but doing so would expose his true nature as a vampire. He was certain that he would be killed long before he could get to him.
"We are going to assist Colonel Jackson."
Suddenly, a voice of a woman wearing a black combat uniform echoed .
"Roger that, Captain Jane," a group of military personnel answered.
'A chance ' a smile formed on the vampire's face as he saw an opportunity.
With that, he boarded the military truck and set off towards their destination.
VROOOOOM! VROOOOM!
Inside the military truck, the vampire could feel the intensity of the holy energy growing stronger. However, he gritted his teeth and endured it, knowing that his mission required him to withstand such forces. He glanced at the sky and realized that the Vatican's attack required a significant amount of time before it could be fully unleashed .
He let out a sigh of relief, realizing that he still had some spare time. The military truck sped along, covering the distance quickly, and within just four minutes, they reached Colonel Jackson's location.
"Why did you come here?" Colonel Jackson inquired, his confusion evident. He hadn't ordered anyone to join him, so their presence puzzled him.
"What do you mean, Colonel? Didn't you request backup?" Jane responded, equally perplexed.
"What?"
But before they could fully process what was happening, a deafening roar shook the sky, capturing their attention.
"I will eradicate your entire family, you traitorous scum!" Diablo's furious roar reverberated through the air. The binding chains restraining him started to crack under the immense force.
"Stop him!" Archbishop Sebastian shouted desperately, but the overwhelming power exerted by Diablo was proving too much to bear. Even the low level priests below began vomiting blood as they struggled to hold on.
"No, we can't hold on any longer..." Archbishop Sebastian's voice wavered as he also spat out blood, the toll of holding off Diablo's power was too much to bear.
"Judgement Call! Eradicate all Evil " With a heavy heart, he reluctantly unleashed the unfinished spell, commanding the Colossal Angel to carry out its devastating attack.
The angel raised its mighty sword high into the air, a powerful aura of power emanating from the tip of its blade. Then with a nonchalant expression, it brought the sword down with a force that shook the very foundation of the battlefield, aiming to eradicate all traces of evil in its path.
ZZZWOOOOOOM!
A devastating beam of light erupted .The light was so overwhelmingly powerful that the vampire, who had caused all the chaos, disintegrated instantly from the mere reflection of its brilliance.
But instead of fear, the vampire vanished with a satisfied expression on his face. He knew he had fulfilled his mission .
Everyone was momentarily blinded by the intense beam of light. As their vision gradually adjusted, they took in the sight before them in astonishment. A massive, perfectly circular crater lay in front of them, its depth so deep that they couldn't even see the bottom.
"Is it over?" Colonel Jackson muttered. The sheer scale of the aftermath left them him speechless. He found it difficult to fathom how anyone could have survived such a cataclysmic attack.
"It's only the beginning," a chilling voice echoed from above, sending shivers down everyone's spines.
"No way," Gasps filled the air as all eyes turned to the sky.
There, in a terrifying display, Diablo floated untouched, his body consumed by swirling, magma-like flames. Eight menacing horns jutted from his head, while a wide, ominous demon wing stretched from his back. In his right hand, he wielded a greatsword that hummed with dark power.
The sheer presence of his transformed form was enough to instill a sense of dread to everyone present.
"Is that his Divine Armament?" Archbishop Sebastian muttered to himself, his voice filled with disbelief. The power emanating from Diablo's sword was so strong that it sent a shiver down his spine.
The Divine Armament was a privilege granted only to the chosen few. Even as a rank SS supernatural being himself, he knew that he did not possess the qualification to wield such a powerful artifact.
"Are you afraid?" Diablo's gaze landed upon Sesbatian.
The fury emanating from him was obvious , fueled by the brief feeling of Evangeline's presence. Although he knew she was not present, the mere glimpse of her aura had ignited his anger, causing it to boil within him. His primary objective now was to swiftly end the battle so he could hunt down Evangeline and exact his revenge.
"This power... It's impossible," Archbishop Sebastian exclaimed, his mind racing as he tried to measure the magnitude of the sword's power. The brutal realization began to sink in, as he figured out that the energy contained within the sword surpassed even that of a Rank SSS
In fact, it seemed to possess a reserved power greater than Diablo himself.
Now he understood why Diablo had refrained from utilizing the power of his domain. He was feeding his domain energy directly to his divine armament.
"Everyone, run!" he shouted desperately.
But before he could even turn away, a chilling sensation washed over him.
SWOOOOOSH!
In a horrifying moment, his head detached from his body, followed by the disintegration of his entire form into ashes. The once powerful and and revered Archbishop had fallen victim to Diablo's merciless wrath.
The events unfolded too fast that even the other powerhouses were unable to react in time. It dawned upon them that the Diablo they had encountered previously was merely a weakened version of his true self .
"Who's next?" Diablo smirked menacingly.
"We can't defeat him. Let's retreat," the old Elementalist declared, swiftly getting to his feet.
He utilized his wind power to send a voice command to all his members, urging them to escape. He realized that they could not defeat Diablo now that they had lost Archbishops Sebastian. Their only chance was to regroup, reassess their strategies, and find another way to confront this formidable adversary.
"Where do you think you're going?" Diablo's voice echoed ominously from behind the old man.
Fortunately , the old man, being a master of the wind, reacted swiftly by using his mastery to conjure powerful tornadoes that acted as a temporary barrier, buying everyone precious moments to escape.
"Run away now !" he yelled .
