Chapter 200 Last Person To Judged Me
Inside a private study, two men were seated. They may have had different social standings or positions, but their connection was like more than brothers. They shared a deep respect for each other.
However, tonight's atmosphere held a unique air.
"Buddy, is this truly what you wish for?" Nathan questioned, having been invited to the meeting alongside William, he was shocked to learned about the plan.
Vincent did not reply immediately. Instead, he took a moment to ponder Nathan's question. His best friend's words had struck a chord within him. Was this truly what he wished for? His original intention was to attain more power in order to protect everything he held dear.
However, he now found himself leading an organization with immense power, capable of even destroying a small nation. The weight of his responsibility and the potential consequences weighed heavily on his mind.
"Do you think that I have become evil, Nathan?" he inquired, genuinely seeking his best friend's perspective on the matter.
He was curious to know how he perceived him in light of his current circumstances and the power he now possessed. He had already stopped caring about lives; he would not proactively kill anyone who didn't mess with him, but he wouldn't feel guilty about killing innocent people either if he needed to.
In a way, the stronger he had become, the more he felt like he was losing his humanity.
"I don't know, buddy. I'm the last person you should ask about that.?" he answered truthfully, acknowledging the complexity of such a question. He understood that his perception of Vincent's actions might be skewed because of their deep friendship.
He genuinely treated Vincent as his own. Vincent had been an ordinary guy before, without wealth, popularity, or exceptional talent. Despite this, he still treated him like a brother, offering unconditional support and care without expecting anything in return.
And even now, despite witnessing all of Vincent's achievements and overwhelming power, Nathan was still doing his best to catch up. It wasn't because he was afraid of being left behind, but because he didn't want anything bad to happen to Vincent. His devotion to his friend was so strong that he would rather die alongside him than witness his death.
"Then, in your opinion, do you consider Evangeline's plan to be evil?" Vincent redirected the question
Nathan paused for a moment, carefully considering his response.
"I honestly don't know, buddy. That's why I'm asking you if this is truly what you want. However, no matter what happens, I will always stand by your side. Even if you were to become the demon lord, despised by everyone, I would stick to you like a magnet," Nathan chuckled, his words carrying a touch of light-heartedness.
"You..." he shook his head and chuckled, realizing his own foolishness for even considering that Nathan's view of him would change. Nathan was the person who had always treated him like a brother, regardless of his background as an poor orphan. He would be the last person to think bad things about him.
Vincent's heart swelled with gratitude for Nathan's unwavering support and acceptance. He felt fortunate to have such a friend who saw beyond external circumstances and embraced him for who he truly was.
"Buddy, if this problem continues to trouble you, then strive to become the strongest," Nathan exclaimed, his conviction evident in his words.
"Who would dare question you if you are the best? Who could challenge you if you embody the law? How can mere mortals pass judgment on a god? What is good? What is evil in the presence of a supreme being?" Nathan stood up, his voice resolute and unwavering. He even acted like a messenger of God, striking funny poses as if to emphasize his point.
Vincent couldn't help but laugh at Nathan's dramatic display. He appreciated his friend's ability to inject humor into serious moments, easing the weight of the conversation.
"Which novel did you borrow that line?" Vincent asked, shaking his head in disbelief.
"You caught me, buddy," Nathan admitted with a grin. "I've been reading this novel, and I just thought that line was incredibly awesome. Couldn't resist throwing it in there!"
"Hahaha"
Both friends shared a hearty chuckle, finding amusement in the lighthearted moment. The sight of Vincent laughing like an ordinary person would undoubtedly shock those who only knew him for his confident and powerful persona. It was a stark contrast, revealing a glimpse of the genuine, more relaxed side of his personality.
"Thank you, Nathan." Vincent admitted, feeling a sense of calmness settle within him after their lighthearted banter
"You can compensate me for my service by agreeing to one of my requests," Nathan smiled, his mischievous nature shining through.
"What request ?"
"You see , I've also grown stronger recently, and I was hoping to accompany Master William on his mission in Russia. I know that you are already aware about my history with the target" Nathan shifted the topic, revealing his personal motivation for wanting to join the operation.
The target of their mission was a mercenary group that had inflicted terror upon his family in the past. Now, that very same group had become a a prey of the Moonlight Sanctuary due to their theft of something of great importance from the Minotaur clan.
"I know. I heard from William that you've already unlocked more than 50% of your Adrenaline Manipulation. He even told me that you're a once in a life time genius. " Vincent acknowledged Nathan's achievements, fully aware of his growth and potential.
Furthermore, William expressed confidence that Nathan could handle himself well, especially with the assistance of the new serum developed by the Minotaur clan. The serum had already been tested on hunters, successfully enhancing the abilities of individuals who had unlocked at least 50% of their adrenaline manipulation potential.
"But are you certain about this? I've heard that the Russian Government is now providing protection to that mercenary group due to the valuable intelligence they possess," he questioned, expressing his concern. Deep down, he wished for Nathan's safety and well-being rather than seeing him in the midst of a dangerous mission.
His reason for becoming strong was to protect those who were important to him, and Nathan was undoubtedly one of them.
"Buddy, I understand your concern for my well-being, but how about trusting me on this one? I also have a strong desire to further enhance my abilities, and I believe that gaining firsthand experience is the best way to achieve that," he pleaded, earnestly expressing his yearning for personal growth and development.
"I..." Vincent was taken aback by Nathan's words. He realized that his best friend had a valid point, and if he were to prevent him from pursuing his path, it would reflect a lack of trust in his part.
"Who said I doubted you? I was just afraid that you would become too powerful that you'd start donning a cape and mask, proudly proclaiming yourself as a superhero of justice," Vincent playfully teased, trying to hide his unease .
"Buddy, you've caught me!" Nathan laughed heartily, playing along with his best friend.
"Show them the might of the Hunter Division of the Moonlight Sanctuary!" Vincent raised his fist, showing his unwavering support for his best friend.
"Absolutely, I'm on it," Nathan responded with a self-assured grin, and the two best friends bumped their fists together in a show of brotherhood.
