Book 2: Chapter 93: New Residence
Vol 2 Ch 93 New Residence
“Who’s there?”
Unexpectedly attacked within the Mo Dao Sect headquarters and nearly killed, Min Jiangtao’s face darkened. He raised the Mo Dao in his hand, and a river of blade light surged forth, slicing through the air.
Ding ding ding ding!
Caught off guard, the attacker fumbled, hurriedly deflecting with four swift moves to block the river of blade light. A surprised hum escaped them.
“Huh?”
Min Jiangtao froze and peered ahead, spotting a familiar figure.
“Senior Brother?”
It was precisely the person he had been looking for—Senior Brother Mo Hong. At this moment, Mo Hong stood gripping his Mo Dao, his sharp eyes like those of an eagle, staring intensely, emanating a dangerous aura.
“It’s been a while since we sparred. Let’s see how much stronger you’ve gotten!”With a casual statement, Mo Hong swung his blade again.
In an instant, blade energy crisscrossed the air, emitting a sharpness that made Min Jiangtao’s skin crawl as if exposed to a freezing wind. His expression turned grave. The attack was clearly not just sparring—it was an all-out strike, seemingly intending to kill him on the spot.
Realizing a single mistake could result in death, Min Jiangtao dared not waste words. He raised his Mo Dao to counter.
Blade light exploded in all directions as the two Mo Dao Sect experts clashed with full force. The shockwaves carved deep trenches into the ground and caused the courtyard’s pavilions and corridors to collapse.
“Not bad! Your strength has improved considerably!” Mo Hong’s eyes narrowed.
Before this, his junior brother’s strength was only at the peak of the Star River Realm Second Level. Mo Hong could have defeated him in three moves. But in just a few days, Min Jiangtao had broken through to the Third Level of the Serenity Realm, and his comprehension of blade techniques had significantly deepened. Even with Mo Hong’s peak Serenity Realm prowess, defeating him wouldn’t be easy.
“It seems Teacher was right; this guy is indeed strange. Let me test him with my ultimate move!”
Having sparred for years, their familiarity with each other meant standard moves were unlikely to secure victory. Mo Hong’s thoughts shifted, and he swung his Mo Dao in a half-arc, slicing it downward.
This was his ultimate technique, honed through years of practice. Blade energy enveloped everything within dozens of meters, so powerful that even fate seemed to be severed.
“Senior Brother…” Min Jiangtao’s face turned ashen.
Sparring between senior and junior brothers was supposed to stop short of deadly force. But this was a full-power strike, focusing all energy into the blade. Even a slight misstep could result in his death.
Knowing he could no longer hold back, Min Jiangtao shifted his stance and unleashed the “Red Cherry Blossom” technique he had just learned from Zhang Xuan.
Two streams of sharp blade energy collided head-on.
Crack!
The blade energy of the “Red Cherry Blossom” cleaved through Mo Hong’s ultimate move like a hot knife through butter, slicing it apart in an instant.
“What?!”
Mo Hong, caught off guard by the overwhelming strength of the move, felt a sharp pain in his brow. Before he could react, his junior brother’s blade had stopped just short of his forehead. Rn/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
“Senior Brother…”
Min Jiangtao, equally stunned, found the outcome hard to believe.
The technique imparted by Lord Zhang Xuan was fast and powerful, but he had only expected it to be on par with his senior brother’s ultimate move. Who could have imagined it would obliterate the attack entirely? It was a decisive, crushing victory.
This could only mean that their teacher’s ultimate move was utterly laughable compared to the technique from Zhang Xuan!
Quickly withdrawing his blade, Min Jiangtao apologized with embarrassment. “Senior Brother, I’m sorry. I couldn’t hold back in time…”
Mo Hong touched his brow and felt a trace of moisture. Though his junior brother had retracted his blade, its sharp energy had still left a cut.
Had Min Jiangtao not pulled back, Mo Hong’s head might have been split open.
“You…” Mo Hong’s pupils contracted, and his body trembled.
Despite his peak Star River Third Level strength, he had lost! How had his junior brother improved so much in just a few days? Moreover, that technique wasn’t one their teacher had taught—it was completely foreign!
Mo Hong forced a smile. “Injuries are inevitable in sparring. I just didn’t expect you to improve this much.”
Feigning calm, he added, “You must be tired from your journey. Rest for a while. Teacher has some matters to attend to. When he returns, I’ll notify you.”
“Yes, Senior Brother!”
Relieved that his senior brother wasn’t angry, Min Jiangtao left.
Mo Hong returned to his quarters, but before he could enter, Mo Baiye emerged.
“Teacher!”
Mo Baiye nodded. “You must have noticed—his technique wasn’t one I taught.”
The teacher had observed the entire sparring match, noting the frightening power of the technique. Even Mo Baiye himself would have struggled to withstand it.
Mo Hong nodded solemnly. “Could it be that Junior Brother has learned a different Heaven’s Fate?”
Typically, once a Heaven’s Fate is chosen, it is difficult to switch. However, within the same category—such as blade techniques—upgrading to a more advanced path was possible.
Mo Baiye shook his head. “That technique still originates from the Mo Dao Heaven’s Fate, but it’s been significantly enhanced. It must be a modification of one of my own moves. Investigate whom he’s been interacting with recently.”
“Yes!” Mo Hong cupped his fists and left to follow the order.
Back in his quarters, Min Jiangtao marveled at the terrifying potential of the “Red Cherry Blossom” technique.
Having only mastered 20-30% of its power, he had effortlessly countered his senior brother’s attack. What could he achieve at full mastery? Overcome opponents far beyond his level?
Meanwhile, in his private space, Zhang Xuan, surrounded by faint streams of Heaven’s Fate Energy, realized that these benefits came from Min Jiangtao’s practice of his techniques.
“No wonder those who master powerful Heaven’s Fates cultivate disciples. This kind of passive reward is indeed gratifying,” he mused.
If one disciple’s cultivation provided this much benefit, what about ten? A hundred? A thousand? The gains would be unimaginable.
“Master, the estate has been purchased.” Sun Qiang arrived the next day, bowing.
The residence, once a prince’s estate, was vast and well-fortified with defensive formations. Zhang Xuan inspected the property, nodded in satisfaction, and instructed, “Once the estate is settled, investigate how to become a Destiny Master.”
“Yes, Master!” Sun Qiang left to fulfill the task.
After repairing the estate’s formations, Zhang Xuan returned to his room, activated the defenses, and contemplated his next move: contacting Kong Shi to locate him within the Zouyi Dynasty.
Zhang Xuan flipped his wrist, and the Cold Nether Sword appeared in his hand. Activating the Pathos of Heaven Sword Technique, he thrust the blade forward.
Swish!
Space distorted, and a cloud of mist appeared before him. A voice filled with surprise soon echoed through it.
“Teacher Zhang? Contacting me now… could it be you’ve reached Zouyi City?”
“Yes,” Zhang Xuan replied with a nod.
“That’s excellent news!” Kong Shi sounded pleased. “It seems your strength has improved significantly. I’ve discovered a method to refine Zhi Lan Valley, but it’s a task too difficult to accomplish alone. Enhance your cultivation as quickly as possible. If you reach the Star River Realm Third Level, come find me.”
“Star River Third Level?” Zhang Xuan was startled. “Does the Heaven’s Fate Divine Domain impose a cultivation requirement?”
“Indeed,” Kong Shi explained, anticipating his question. “If your strength is insufficient, entering the Heaven’s Fate Divine Domain recklessly would expose you to extreme danger.”
Understanding this, Zhang Xuan nodded. “I see.”
