Chapter 500: Chapter 500 Reporting Oneself_1

“Hurry it up! There’s only ten minutes left until the concert starts!”n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Arvid Woody screamed at his staff, even cursing nonstop.

This was a massive event to harvest fans on-site, and a fortune had been made just from ticket sales alone.

Arvid Woody had even prepared some commemorative merchandise, including a special edition of cell phones with Nando Brandon’s image printed on them, dubbing them ‘Nando Brandon Limited Edition Phones’.

The cost was less than three dollars each, but he’d inflated the price of the originally over-a-thousand-dollar phones to five-thousand!

And all twenty thousand units sold out in ten seconds!

Just thinking about the vacation in Maldives he would be able to take once the concert successfully wrapped up,

lightened Arvid Woody’s mood significantly.

He had been neglecting his own rest recently due to the worries about this concert.

On top of that, the sudden deaths of three of his agents had given him quite the shock.

But thankfully, it was all about to end!

Suddenly, all the lights went out.

“What’s going on!”

Arvid Woody immediately took out a walkie-talkie upon hearing the increasing noise from the venue and shouted, “Find out what’s happening! The power! What’s going on with the power! The concert is about to begin. What are you all doing!”

Rage!

And a sense of anxiety began to spread in Arvid Woody’s heart.

Less than five minutes remained until the concert was to start!

They were about to put the final touches on the preparations, but at the last minute, everything had gone awry.

“Report! The power has been completely cut, we’re investigating!”

A reply came through the walkie-talkie.

“What the hell is happening! You bunch of incompetents! Not before, not after, but now the power goes out!”

Arvid Woody was nearly driven mad with anger!

As the noise from the venue grew louder, he had no choice but to order the start of the backup power supply.

But the backup power would only last ten minutes, nowhere near enough to support the concert.

“Damn it! What is this situation!”

Taking a deep breath, he quickly started to head downstairs.

“Manager, we’ve figured out the problem! It’s a maintenance issue with the electric line; we’ve communicated with the maintenance workers, and they estimate that we won’t have power until early morning.”

The voice of the props team came through the walkie-talkie again.

“Damn it! Why weren’t we notified in advance! Why choose now for maintenance instead of earlier or later?”

Arvid Woody slammed his fist against the wall and bellowed into the walkie-talkie, “Everyone be prepared for when the power comes back, I’m heading to the venue manager now!”

With that, he strode towards the venue manager’s office.

Normally, the venue would be held responsible for such an incident, and they might even have to compensate if the concert couldn’t go ahead because of this issue.

“What do you want!”

As Arvid Woody arrived at the venue manager’s office door, full of fury, he was stopped.

“I’m looking for your manager!”

Arvid Woody roared.

If things had gone smoothly, the opening ceremony would have already been underway by now.

But what about now? Complete darkness!

The fans were shouting in confusion, and his staff were in disarray!

“Sorry, this place isn’t for just anyone to enter!”

The security guard blocked Arvid Woody outside and threatened with an unfriendly tone, “Please leave!”

“I should leave?”

Arvid Woody was so angry he almost found it funny. He pointed to the pitch-dark venue behind him and yelled furiously, “The concert is supposed to have started by now, do you understand! Without electricity, how do we hold a concert! Explain to me! Now, explain!”

If this mess wasn’t cleared up, he could kiss his career goodbye.

And worse, he’d be saddled with debt and face a lawsuit from Enlighten Group!

Why did all the misfortunes have to fall on him?

Since his arrival, three agents had died, and while the aftermath was yet to be dealt with, the most important concert also ran into snags!

“Sorry, the electricity issue has nothing to do with us.”

The security guard said unapologetically, “We have fulfilled our obligations. Please read the contract carefully. It states that if a concert is delayed due to force majeure, it has nothing to do with our venue!”

“You!”

Arvid Woody felt something was amiss.

He was just a security guard, so how could he be so familiar with these matters?

Blinded by anger just moments ago, Arvid Woody now calmed down and thought about it, and indeed, there was such a clause!

If it was an issue of electrical repairs, then it really had nothing to do with the venue and indeed constituted a force majeure event.

If he truly wanted to seek compensation, he should go after the group responsible for the electrical maintenance, the national grid.

Not the person in charge of the venue before him.

But…

Why wouldn’t they even let him see the venue manager?

“Can you let me in first? I want to try to communicate with the manager, to see if we can resolve the issue and proceed with the concert, okay?”

Arvid Woody lowered his tone, pleading.

Ten minutes had passed since the concert was supposed to start, and the fans were already dissatisfied.

Many were even calling for Federico Yarrow to issue refunds!

This was a disaster!

It was the most significant disaster he had encountered in his twenty-plus years in the business!

“Sorry, can’t you hear what I’m saying? The manager isn’t here!”

The security guard replied coldly, “And this issue has nothing to do with our venue. You can go find the people from the power grid to restore the electricity.”

“Fine! You just wait!”

Arvid Woody, unwilling to give up, pointed at the two security guards and turned to jog towards the site of the electrical repair.

As he ran, he suddenly realized, why did everywhere have electricity except for the venue?

“Manager, you’re here!”

Upon seeing Arvid Woody, the logistic personnel from the crew hurried over, smiling in greeting.

“You still have the nerve to smile!”

Arvid Woody slapped him across the face, yelling angrily, “What the hell is going on!”

Without smiling, could they actually cry upon seeing him?

Although the staff member didn’t say it out loud, he still pointed towards a spot ten meters away and said, “The entire electrical system is being inspected. Everywhere else has power except for our venue.”

“Damn it! This is targeting us!”

Arvid Woody frowned and quickly walked towards the area where the repairs were happening.

“Hey! Manager, that makeup artist at least worked all afternoon. Can we at least pay her a bit?”

The staff member asked as he caught up.

“Pay your mother! If you keep spouting nonsense, you can roll out with him!”

Angry Arvid Woody cursed outright.

When he arrived, he found that there were over a dozen electricians standing before him, currently inspecting the wires around the venue.

“What’s going on here? We have a concert inside! You can inspect the electrical system, but can’t you issue a warning in advance? There are tens of thousands of people inside my venue. What if something happens? And the concert has already been delayed. Can you afford to compensate for this loss?”

Arvid Woody went forward and yelled, “Where is your person in charge?”

“I am the person in charge!”

An engineer with glasses stepped forward to confront Arvid Woody, “We received a report claiming a significant risk of fire due to aged circuits around the venue. According to regulations, we must conduct an urgent inspection to eliminate any danger!”

“Then… did you get the manager’s approval? If not, you’ll have to wait until our concert is over before inspecting. Restore the electricity right now!”

Arvid Woody said anxiously.

“I am the manager, and I was the one who reported it. Do you have a problem with that?”

Just then, Aron Jackson walked over from a distance.
