Kiss Me Not

Chapter 44 - Do You Like What You See?

"Bri, do you think it's possible for us to become more than friends?"

"Huh?" Brione looked at Gavin with a frown.

She and Gavin were on the rooftop of his house, enjoying the night by stargazing. Both of them laid down on a soft blanket looking at the sky.

Brione turned sideways to face Gavin. She was not sure whether he was serious or just joking.

Gavin turned to his side as well and observed her closely. He looked so serious that it made Brione's heart skip a beat. She loved him for a long time and had thought about getting together numerous times. She had thought about the possibility of them being together not just as best friends but as lovers too.

She was honestly scared to take the next step. Gavin was the only man she trusts with all her heart apart from her brother Noah. Actually, Gavin was closer to her heart as she could share things with Gavin that she could not share with her brother. That was how comfortable and secure she was whenever Gavin was with her.

She was scared because relationships as lovers do not often last long unlike the good relationship of best friends. She knew because she had witnessed a lot of people going through it.

They would always end up hating each other when they break up. Well, not everyone but the majority of them!

Unlike being in a relationship as lovers, they could quarrel and fight with each other as many times as they want but at the end of the day, their friendship remains solid and unbroken. Well at least with her and Gavin that was the case.

With a pout, Brione scoffed at him and mumbled, "Stop dreaming okay? That will never happen. It's better if we remain like this or do you want me to be uncomfortable around you? Let's stay like this Gav. This way our friendship will last forever."

Gavin was expressionless while she spoke to him with a smile. She pinched his nose when she noticed that he was spacing out.

"Why are you so serious? Stop being this way! You're scaring me…" she whispered.

There was a long pause before Gavin finally smiled back at her and said, "What if I want to be more than a friend to you? I love you Bri."

"And I love you too, Gav. You're my bestest friend whom I trust the most. So please let's not destroy our friendship by taking it further Gav, because I will never dare take that risk. I cannot lose you Gav..."

Then she saw Gavin slowly fading in front of her.

"Gav… Gav…" she hysterically called for him. She realized that she eventually ended up losing him because she let fear and her cowardice overpower her love for him.

Brione's face was wet with tears when she finally opened her eyes. She realized that it was nothing but a dream. The scenes felt very real since it was actually what happened when she was with Gavin the last time she saw him.

She wiped her tears and sat on the bed. She looked around and knew that she was in Cedric's room. She could even smell his scent in the bed but he was not around.

She looked at the wall clock and saw that it was past seven in the morning. She woke up later than her usual time which was around six in the morning.

She sat comfortably on the bed and leaned her head on the headrest. She closed her eyes for some time, gathering herself up and thinking of an excuse before going out to see Cedric. She wondered where Cedric slept as she had occupied his bed.

She was startled out of her thoughts when the bathroom door opened suddenly. She saw Cedric walk out with just a towel covering his lower body. He was drying his wet hair with another towel and his muscles were flexing because of his action, making him very tempting. She could see the drops of water moving from his neck to his chest before traveling down his toned abs.

Brione blankly stared at him, counting the packs on Cedric's abs, unaware of the mischievous smile on the man's lips.

'Six packs!' Brione exclaimed to herself. It was the same as Gavin who was so proud that he even boated to her as soon as he attained that body!

"Do you like what you see?" Cedric asked with a wicked grin.

Brione snapped out of her daze and realized what she just did. She swallowed in nervousness and turned her eyes away from him.

"Hmmp! It's just the same as other men I acted with…"

Cedric chuckled at her reply but did not tease her anymore.

Instead, he asked, "How was your sleep, sweetheart? Was it comfortable? I bet you're having a headache right now. Do you remember what happened last night?"

"Yeah, I'm having a slight headache. Uhm, I recall that I ran to your room and drank your whiskey. Why? Did I do something funny or stupid?" she naively mumbled as she even massaged her temple slightly.

She was an actress after all, so her acting was very natural and flawless. Nobody would be able to tell that she was acting right now!

She stood up and even swayed a bit but Cedric was quick to catch her. She regretted moving so carelessly because now Cedric was too close to her. She never thought he could run quickly enough to aid her since she just wanted to sit back on the bed to make her acting more convincing.

"I have prepared some soup for you. Stay here and don't move, I will get it for you," Cedric whispered as he helped her sit. When he turned around, Brione looked down and subconsciously raised her hand to pull the towel so she could see his butt. Before she could even reach the towel, Cedric suddenly turned around.

"What are you doing sweetheart?" Cedric suspiciously asked.

Brione looked at her hand that was still raised and moved it saying, "Oh nothing, I'm just moving my hand since it felt numb a while ago. I guess it's fine now."

Cedric shook his head and quickly went to his walk-in closet to get dressed.

Brione let out a sigh in relief. She must see his butt no matter what! So while waiting for Cedric, she became busy formulating a plan on how to see his butt and check for his birthmarks.
