I Spread my Genes to Level Up in the Apocalypse

Chapter 233 Invitation by Mount Sumeru

Ray, who had been quietly listening to the old man's ramblings about the cultivation world, suddenly paused. His head turned mechanically toward the source of a faint voice that reached his ears.

"They just found out."

His expression hardened, and he shook his head, a trace of disdain flashing in his mismatched pupils. "Looks like I overestimated the capabilities of the so-called Universal Beings in this Yuantian Universe," he muttered under his breath.

A sadistic smirk tugged at his lips as he continued his thoughts. "Even if they know, can they truly find us so easily?"

The perfect moment to capture them had been when the portal was still open. Now that it had closed, scattering into the vast expanse of this universe was a simple matter. Blending in among the countless natives would make their trail as elusive as smoke in the wind.

The odds of being found were laughably slim. There were already thousands of Universal Beings roaming this plane, their presence indistinguishable from the locals. Searching for them was akin to hunting for a needle in a haystack.

And in this particular universe, a single, boundless plane, finding a single person among the multitudes was a challenge in itself.

"So, you are saying that there are twelve tiers of cultivation, huh?"

"Yes, master." The old man stared blankly with lifeless pupils, his body unmoving as he remained seated in place. "There are many varieties of cultivators. I am a spiritual cultivator, and I cultivate my spiritual Qi. There are also Sword Cultivators, Fire Cultivators, Earth Cultivators, and many more. After Tier Twelve come the Gods. They are true immortals, the strongest in the world, and throughout history, only ten have ever achieved the status of God."

"How does it work, and what do you use?" Ray was interested in the most important things.

For every power, there is a fuel to it. Without that fuel, it becomes entirely useless.

Just for example, without Mutation Energy, Ray's skills would also be useless. The core was always important; you cannot build a building without pillars and a base.

No matter how tall the building, it would crumble like sand in the wind if it lacked a solid foundation.

"Qi. Qi is the mystical energy that is ever-present. We take Qi into our bodies, construct the meridians for it to flow through, and grow stronger," the old man explained, his tone unwavering.

"Interesting." Ray touched his chin thoughtfully. This was exactly what had been depicted in novels, almost as if fantasy had come to life—but in another universe.

"I guess the Multiverse Theory is somewhat true," he mused.

Even so, Ray found little interest in this cultivation business. The highest realm—God—was likely comparable to a Universal Being or perhaps even weaker. He was already comparable if not stronger than God, so what's the point?

"How do you cultivate?"

Ray wanted to research everything about this mysterious universe, not missing a single detail. He aimed to find a solution for the move: Universe Detachment that was still stuck in his throat. If he could resolve it, he was confident he could be called the strongest being.

The old man began to explain with reverence, holding nothing back.

The Yuantian Realm was undergoing rapid upheaval following the declaration by the ten Gods. Mount Sumeru had immediately summoned all its forces spread throughout the world.

"Why has Mount Sumeru called all of us cultivators?"

"Is there something we don't know about?"

"For what we know, Mount Sumeru is the strongest force in the world, and we all must obey it. With the ten Gods residing on the mountain, such a summons has only been issued a few times in all of ancient history—and each time, it was due to the birth of a new God and their descent into Mount Sumeru."

"Then what's going on now?"

"It seems those portals that appeared aren't as simple as they seemed. There's a terrifying story behind them, one that needs the attention of all cultivators in the world."

Cultivators immediately went into panic mode, scrambling to gather their belongings. They mounted flying swords and boarded celestial boats, all heading toward the center of the Yuantian Realm, where the highest mountain, Mount Sumeru, stood towering above all.

Naturally, Ray also received one of these invitations—or rather, it was the Heart Pavilion that received it.

"Do you know why they are inviting us?" Ray asked with a tone full of interest, his voice relaxed as he felt the gentle touch of a soft hand massaging his back.

"No, Master," the woman replied in a cold tone. Her jade-like, unblemished skin glowed faintly under the light, her expression calm and detached. She wore a perfectly fitted kimono that completely concealed her body, adding an air of mystery to her elegance.

Ray chuckled inwardly. "What was that term called again?" he mused. "Ah, yes. Jade Beauty."

Looking at her now, he thought, "That's truly the only way to describe her.*"

Ray lazily glanced back at the invitation, showing no concern.

"This invitation isn't for you guys. It's for us, the invaders. They're openly inviting us instead of hunting us down," he said with a smirk.

"I see." The jade beauty replied calmly, without a flinch.

"What do you think I should do?" Ray turned his head to look at her with a meaningful gaze.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"You shouldn't go?" she suggested, her tone neutral.

"That would be the most logical choice, wouldn't it? But I will go," Ray replied casually.

"Okay." She responded again, completely unmoved.

"Come on, at least show some emotion," Ray rolled his eyes in disbelief.

The woman forced a slight raise of her eyebrows and opened her mouth in an exaggerated 'O'.

"How fake," Ray muttered, shaking his head speechlessly. He snapped his fingers.

Immediately, the shocked expression on the woman's face disappeared, and she collapsed to the ground.

She woke again moments later, her pupils darting wildly in panic.

"Where am I?"

Her mind was clouded with confusion as she curled her body in fear, the icy demeanour she had once displayed fading entirely.

"I thought she was a cold beauty?" Ray tilted his head, an amused smile playing on his lips.

However, as the woman gradually recovered from her shock, a cold expression returned to her face. She stood up, her gaze sharp as daggers as she stared at Ray.

"I greet the distinguished guest."

"Oh, I thought you would attack and try to kill me," Ray giggled unceremoniously.

"There is no point," she said coldly, her expression still unchanged.

Ray stopped his giggle, his expression shifting into one of calm intensity. He slowly rose to his feet, towering over her until she had to strain her neck just to see his face.

With deliberate steps, he approached her, his expression growing more dangerous with each movement.

He raised his bulky hand slowly, watching her closely. Despite appearing unaffected, a flicker of instinct made her close her eyes. A moment later, she felt a warm, calloused hand gently resting against her head.

"Eh." She slowly opened her eyes, her pupils gradually widened in shock.

"You are quite cute. What's your name?"

"Luo Shuchun," she answered almost instinctively as if her entire being was calling out to her.
