Chapter 229: Miranda and Mary

Chapter 229: Miranda and Mary

It didn't take long before the cloud dispersed. Elliot was relieved after seeing it vanish into nothingness.

"When Midnight was abused, it was Francoise who saved him," Lance said. "At least I can tell you this much. You know how bright Francoise's ability is. And when the siblings knew that Francoise was their father's brother, it was the light they followed ever since."

"And what does Galaxia have to do with this?" Elliot knitted his brows.

"Galaxia was with Midnight all throughout their childhood. They were at the same orphanage and Galaxia saw how Midnight suffered. He saw how Midnight endured every whip, every punishment, and every pain the woman in charge gave him."

"So, Galaxia isn't actually in love with Midnight?" Elliot asked. "He's just protecting him. And what about the Holy Crow? Isn't he Galaxia's father?

"No and no," Lance sighed out. "Galaxia feels something towards Midnight, but he refuses to believe that he's not a girl. And then Galaxia was adopted by the Holy Crow because the Holy Crow saw his potential."

"I guess we all came from sad lives," Elliot flattened his lips and sighed. "And we somehow couldn't escape from any of it."

They were about to enter the inn when another police officer came. It was Miranda, Ryan's colleague.

"I heard he was here," Miranda said. "Where is he?"

"He's inside," Lance said. "How did you know where he is?"

"He told me through our communications," the woman said. "Let me see him."

Lance opened the inn and let themselves in. Aquarius was still healing Ryan but now he didn't looked as pained as before.

"I managed to recover his tissues," Aquarius said. "They're bringing in the second barrel now."

"Second barrel?" Elliot asked. "You needed that much water?"

"My ability let's me convert water into blood, but at a cost," Aquarius said. "The volume would be halved. And when I convert the blood into tissue, it would be quartered. So basically I needed a pond of water to recover a single limb. And a barrel to repair a large wound like this."

"And what's the use of these gems here?" Miranda asked. Elliot could see that she was worried about her colleague. They must be really close.

"These are the gems I use to borrow their mana," Aquarius said. "We're participants for tomorrow's event and I need my mana. I'll need every mana I can get right now."

Miranda froze after realizing who the people where. It seemed like she was so focused on Ryan that she had forgotten about everyone else.

She shrieked and jumped a bit. She looked down for a moment before she looked back up and grinned, "Hello everyone! It seemed like Miranda was embarrassed so she let me take over."

"W-What?" Elliot narrowed his eyes.

"Oh," Hope clapped his hands once. "Ms. Police Officer has the Faint to shift her personalities. That one was the police officer."

"And I'm Mary! The prettiest of the pretty!" Mary cheered and ran over to Ryan. "Poor Ryan. I hope he gets better."

"Here is the barrel!" Minos announced and entered the room. He was carrying a small barrel this time, carrying it all by himself even though George was with him.

Minos placed the barrel beside Aquarius who continued the healing process. He dipped his hand again, feeling anything from the water before he converted them into blood.

Mary had took the gems from the others inside the room. "Let me take over. You need your strength and I have plenty."

Although Aquarius was hesitant about letting Mary take over, he still raised his hand and formed the vortex, bit by bit, turning the clear water into the crimson liquid.

Aquarius then looked at Mary, "I won't be able to remove this curse. My spell only allows me to recover, but not dispel curses."

"That's alright," Mary said. "I'll find someone. Please for now, save him."

Aquarius nodded and placed hid hand on Ryan's arm. "He lost too much blood so I needed the transfusion."

The blood dove straight to a vein Aquarius left open. He slowly transfered the blood, letting it into the stream carefully and not just ramming it in.

Mary leaned in front of him, "You seem to have done this a lot. Are you a healer?"

"Of some sorts," Aquarius chuckled. "A specific friend likes to get injured in battle. I needed to learn Blood Magic from my Water Magic. It was a tough ride, but I'm not a God of the Seas for nothing."

"You're a God?!" Mary gasped. "It's the first time I've seen one."

Aquarius continued their conversation but he was also amused by how Mary didn't look drained even after Aquarius's largely mana consuming ability. When he healed Isabelle before, he almost fainted when he got back to the guild.

Although that wound was in a whole other level from Ryan's, conversion of water into tissue still needs a lot of energy. Yet Mary doesn't look like her body's gonna give up soon. She was calm and continued talking even when she carried all the gems to transfer her energy.

"And it's done," Aquarius announced. "He just needs to heal by himself and let his body adjust to the new blood I just added."

Elliot walked over to Ryan and took out a potion. He was about to open it when Mary appeared in front of him. She took the container and examined it.

"What is this?" she asked. This time, she was using a voice that sounded stern and strict. It wouldn't surprise them that this wasn't Mary anymore.

"That's a replenishing potion," Elliot said. "I need to give that to Ryan so he can replenish his HP and MP."

"Taste test," Miranda said and stared at Elliot. She opened the container and placed a drop on her finger. Her eyes didn't leave Elliot as she took a sip of the potion, gasping after feeling its effects. "It's real."

"You can give it to Ryan yourself if you want," Elliot said. "You're his colleague after all."

Miranda nodded and gave Ryan the potion. It didn't take long before the contents of the container was finished and the glass vanished into thin air.

"What happened?" Miranda asked Elliot.

"Since everything is done, the container vanished," Elliot said. "It's like that."

She formed an O with her mouth and nodded a couple of times. "I want to take Ryan to the base but I'm afraid I can't. Can we stay here for the meantime?"

"You can use my room," Elliot offered. "He's recovering and he needs to be comfortable."

"No, you can use mine," Aquarius said. "I'll go to Minos's room. We can sleep beside each other."

"You can use Midnight's," a voice spoke before Elliot could argue more.

Galaxia walked down the stairs, carrying Midnight that was wrapped in a blanket. "I will take Midnight with me tonight. The event will start in the afternoon, so you don't have to worry."

"I'll make sure Midnight is safe," Sun said. "And I'll also make sure that he'll be on time for the event."

Galaxia's usual happy-go-lucky attitude was nowhere to be seen. His face was serious and he didn't look like he'll be able to take a joke.

Without any more words, Galaxia left with Sun and Midnight, leaving the others dumbfounded as the man left the room.

"Scary," Mary chuckled.
