I Became the Best Forensic Doctor After My Betrayal

Chapter 47 - 47 Missing

47 Missing

“Lu Feng was suffering from a serious mental illness?”

Wu Zheng looked at the report in his hand and frowned as he instructed Zou Sheng, “Go to the hospital and get the details of Lu Feng’s treatment.”

Zou Sheng nodded. “Okay, Captain.”

Only then did Wu Zheng smile and thank Shen Yin. “Dr. Shen, thanks for your meticulousness. This will be of great help to us in finding out the truth.”

Shen Yin shook her head in embarrassment. “You’re too polite, Captain Wu. A friend of mine sent me this.”

“A friend?” Wu Zheng did not ask for details, but the only person who could do such a thing was probably the man who had sent the gifts to the police station.

Meng Heng, who was about to leave, suddenly stopped in his tracks. Then, he smiled wryly and left without looking back.

After Shen Yin returned to the forensics office, she quickly wrote a post-mortem report and sent it out. Only then did she stretch as if she had been freed.

Zheng Ling saw that she was hard at work and did not want to interrupt her. Seeing that she was done with her work, Zheng Lin seized the opportunity and came over.

“Sis, do you want to go to the new mall in the city center after work?”

“Sorry, I have an appointment today. Maybe next time.” Shen Yin smiled apologetically.

Zheng Ling immediately perked up. “Sister, who are you meeting? Is it the person who gave you the Zixiang Pavilion snacks today?”

Shen Yin nodded and asked curiously, “Is Zixiang Pavilion very famous? Why do you all seem to know this restaurant?”

“Sis, you must have been overseas for too long, that’s why you don’t know about it.” Zheng Ling explained longingly, “Zixiang Pavilion is one of the top restaurants, one of the watering holes for big shots. Everything there are very expensive. The people who go there are either rich or important. What they value is Zi Xiang Pavilion’s thoughtful service and confidentiality. Even ordinary paparazzi find it difficult to sneak in.”

“I see.” Shen Yin nodded in understanding.

Seeing that it was almost time to get off work, Shen Yin felt even more uneasy. It was rare for her to have such mood swings. It seemed that every time she felt uneasy, the culprit was always that man who was sometimes domineering and sometimes gentle and meticulous.

Shen Yin was sitting behind her desk in a daze when her phone suddenly rang.

Zheng Ling immediately cast a sharp and curious glance at her. Under her burning gaze, Shen Yin picked up the phone with a blush.

“Yin Yin, bad news, Nian Nian is missing!”

Shen Yin was so shocked that she almost dropped her phone. “What did you say? Li Zi, what happened? Don’t panic. Tell me slowly.”

Li Zi’s choked voice came through the phone. “I… I’m sorry, Yin Yin. It’s all my fault. I lost Nian Nian. I was on leave today, so I wanted to take Nian Nian out for a walk. But just as we arrived at the mall, my stomach suddenly felt uncomfortable, so I asked Nian Nian to wait for me at the entrance of the mall’s washroom. But when I came out, I couldn’t find Nian Nian no matter how hard I searched.”

Shen Yin’s hands and feet went icy cold. She took a deep breath and tried her best to calm herself down. “Don’t be anxious. There are usually surveillance cameras in the mall. I’ll get my colleagues to help investigate. Send me the address. I’ll go over now.”

“Sister, what happened?” Zheng Ling looked worriedly at Shen Yin, whose forehead was covered in cold sweat. Although they had not known each other for long, she could tell that if it must be something serious for the usually calm Shen Yin to panic.

Shen Yin shook her head. She first sent a message to Zou Sheng and asked him to help check the surveillance cameras. Then, she rushed out of the police station without even packing her bag.

Along the way, Shen Yin kept telling herself to calm down. Shen Nian was no ordinary child. He was very smart and had a very high IQ. During the years he was overseas, it had always been this little fellow who took care of her, the incompetent mother. He would not be kidnapped easily.

That’s right. Nian Nian was so smart. He had never been lost in the six years that they had lived overseas. Why would he disappear after just going to the mall with Li Zi?

Unless someone had done it deliberately.

When she thought of this possibility, Shen Yin froze, as if she had been clubbed.

Someone had just used her son to threaten her this morning?

Yun Shan!

Shen Yin’s expression suddenly turned cold. She took out her phone and dialed that woman’s number. For a moment, her thoughts were in turmoil and she forgot to verify the person she was calling. The moment the call connected, she asked without preamble, “Where have you taken my son?”

The woman on the other end of the line was silent for a moment, then suddenly laughed out loud. “Shen Yin, you’re really stupid. I told you to listen to me this morning, but now you’re panicking?”
