Chapter 444 – First Point, Get!
To put the assignment they received simply, it was hard. For other people, that was.
"Okay! 2 more orders incoming. These are the last ones."
"Two fried rice incoming."
Nina skillfully took the order and Lily delivered them. In the kitchen, Max cooked in a large amount at once, ensuring the order didn't stop.
In just 30 minutes, they had depleted their ingredients and made a big profit. Their GJ coins doubled, and so did the DYB. They only sold around 50 servings, but that was enough to finish the assignment.
Many people were disappointed that they didn't sell more as the fried rice was unexpectedly delicious, more than the other foods sold in the restaurant area.
"I am sorry! But we will come back and open more if we have a chance."
After saying that, Max broke into a run. He left every medal except for 5 GJ needed to finish the assignment to Nina.
"Just exchange those back to money and save it. That's your pay!"
"Hey, this is too much. Who pays 500$ for 30 minutes of labor?"
"Me! That's also for the groceries and inconvenience fee. Thanks!"
"Un, thanks Nina! Let's meet again later." Lily waved her friend goodbye and they went to Mr. Strange in the common area.
The crowd slowed them down a little. They had to navigate carefully not to bump into any of them and cause an accident.
When they arrived at the common area, the cameras set around the perimeter followed them. Looking around, Max noticed that they were first to arrive. Either the other groups hadn't found a paper yet or their assignments were as hard as theirs, he didn't know.
One thing he knew was that he won this first race.
Mr. Strange, who was relaxing around, jumped out of his chair and put on his baseball cap. He entered the camera's shooting distance and exclaimed.
"Look at who arrived first, Breeze and LilyPixel's couple! This is fast. I am not prepared to greet them yet." Mr. Strange said as he broke into a run to meet them. "Did they give up? Or did they finish the assignment given by the paper?
Anyway, let's ask them."
They met in the middle and Max spoke first.
"We finished them." He grinned and took out 5 GJ medals he got from the customers. "5 Good Job medals from selling fried rice. They are the profit we got and not exchanged through the booth. You can verify them through the footage."
Blinking, Mr. Strange was still surprised by their speed at clearing the assignment.
'I thought they would spend 3 to 5 hours finishing them. The task isn't that easy. But…'
"Fried rice? Are you in the restaurant area?"
"Yes." Max nodded at Mr. Strange. "Coincidentally, I have a bit of experience in the kitchen, so the task isn't as hard as planned, maybe. And we have a good friend who helped us secure the ingredients quickly, thanks to the menu being as simple as fried rice."
Mr. Strange nodded. He had gone through the documents filled with today's casts general information. And based on his memory, Breeze was said to have experience working in the kitchen to prepare for a cooking reality show. And that showed today.
"Luck is also a part of ability." The host of the reality show gave an understanding nod. "Well then! As the first couple to finish, you have gained a point! This point will show the winner. Whoever reaches 5 points first is the best couple and gets 100 thousand dollars!"Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Max high fived with Lily. They were happy to get the first point. Their faces were taken by the camera perfectly.
"Now, let's call the other participants back."
With a video call, informing the other participants about the first winner was easy. They returned to the common area almost at the same time.
The second couple, Maxwell and Airi, looked pretty tired. Sweat poured out from their foreheads. Thankfully, their make-up was done by a professional and could stay even when they sweat profusely. Science has advanced a lot.
"Sorry, Max. I slowed you down."
"It's okay, Airi. You've done your best to find the item we need. We're not slow, the winner is just too fast. You can do your best next."
"Hnn, yeah. I will!" Airi pumped her fists in front of her chest.
The atmosphere around that couple was just as lovely as before.
Meanwhile, the third couple, June and Queeny didn't look that tired. However, the girl wore a disgusted face and grumbled loudly.
"I don't want to touch that frog! Why should I take care of them and move them to a new aquarium? This assignment made no sense. We're idols, not zookeepers."
"Haa, but that doesn't mean we can skip it. Besides, someone had finished their assignment ahead of us."
"Good. I can stay away from that place thanks to them. Let me– Huh? It was White Lily's pair? Ah, I should just grab those frogs with a claw and brave myself. I am so embarrassed now.
It's your fault, June!"
"Why me? I didn't know they had claws to move the animal gently until we were called back."
"I bet they are hiding them. Curse them."
"Language, Queeny!"
They looked as lively as ever, with Queeny taking the lead. Max smiled wryly as the idol girl glared at Lily. While Lily only looked at her without any interest, as if Queeny was just another person passing by.
After everyone gathered and made a line, Mr. Strange coughed into his hand and pointed at the camera.
"Everyone, the first game has finished! Let's offer our congratulations to coupled Breeze and LilyPixel. They are fast, skillful, kind, and lucky. They managed to finish the first assignment, gather, create, and sell fried rice in less than 2 hours. What a beast!"
An artificial applause coming from the speaker and the paid spectators rang. Max didn't realize that they had gathered around until now.
'When did they show up?' He wondered.
"Without wasting a minute, let's move to the second game. If the first one is to see the couple's hard work and cooperation, then we will now test their compatibility and knowledge." Mr. Strange laughed strangely and spun around.
"Yes, this is the segment you are waiting for." He exclaimed loudly and stopped, spreading his arms at a perfect time. "Couple quiz time!"
