Chapter 78 - Zhou Dai – part 2
The distribution of loot was an urgent matter.
Zhou Dai refused to back down — her goal was the Holy Casket on the island, her key to joining the Radiant Holy Church. Giving it up was not an option.
After some thought, she proposed, “How about this? You join the Oath quest with me. We can complete it together and join the Radiant Holy...”
Before she could finish, Yang Yi rejected the idea.
“No, I have no plans to join any church!”
Zhou Dai was stunned, unable to understand why anyone would reject the Radiant Goddess’s guidance.
She then offered another plan.
“Fine. Everything else is negotiable, but can you let me have the Holy Casket and the Brain Eater’s corpse? I’ll trade valuable items with you.”
Without waiting for his response, she privately sent information on three items:
【White Rose: A rare revolver firing silver bullets with regeneration suppression and anti-evil effects】
【Twilight Veil: A ship upgrade that renders stationary ships invisible.】
【Holy Knight Commander’s Sword: A rare longsword obtained from a wraith’s corpse.】
Yang Yi’s breath hitched at the second item.
A ship cloaking device was incredibly useful, offering unparalleled convenience for exploration and security. It would eliminate the risk of hostile players attacking his base while he was out.
The trade terms were acceptable to him, as he had already planned to give the Holy Casket to Zhou Dai.
After all, his ship was a ghost ship — revealing it to the Radiant Holy Church would likely lead to its immediate purification.
Additionally, both the Holy Casket and Ronette’s body bore sacred seals that could be sensed by the church’s forces. Carrying them was a liability, so handing them off to Zhou Dai was a safer option.
As for using Ronette’s corpse for “vending” purposes, Yang Yi didn’t even consider it. Having drunk her wine, he had no intention of desecrating her remains.
Yang Yi agreed to Zhou Dai’s terms but haggled a bit to avoid seeming too eager, ultimately securing an additional 10,000 Shell Coins in the deal.
He then addressed a lingering concern.
“By the way, the ship’s collapse was partially my fault. I didn’t know you were inside...”
“It’s not your fault! If you hadn’t killed the Brain Eater, I’d already be dead!” Zhou Dai dismissed the issue.
Yang Yi crouched down to help Zhou Dai escape.
“Just so you know, I can’t see. If anything seems offensive...”
“Now’s not the time to worry about that!” Zhou Dai interrupted, anxious to be freed. Her injured ankle had already lost all feeling.
“Understood.”
Yang Yi focused, crawling into the wreckage under her direction. Though blind, his sense of touch told him Zhou Dai’s left ankle was crushed.
Even if the plank was moved, the ankle was beyond saving. Worse, shifting the debris could destabilise the wreck further, causing another collapse.
After a moment of silence, Yang Yi spoke.
“Zhou Dai, I can save you, but the question is — do you trust me?”
“What do you mean...”
Yang Yi nodded solemnly. “Your ankle is already crushed and irreparable.”
Zhou Dai froze, her body trembling slightly.
Unable to rise, she hadn’t been able to assess her injury and had clung to the hope that it wasn’t severe.
But the reality showed to be the worst-case scenario.
A few seconds later. Zhou Dai gradually calmed down. From the initial panic and fear, she quickly became composed.
The speed of this change even surprised herself. Losing a leg seemed almost insignificant.
It was probably due to having gone through so much before...
She regained her composure and spoke in a low voice.
“Then, amputate it. We can't stay trapped here forever!”
Yang Yi was taken aback by her words.
He had already deduced that Zhou Dai was a well-dressed, stunning woman.
Yet, the beauty, who clearly cared about her appearance, was able to make the decisive choice of amputating her ankle without hesitation. She was incredibly strong — perhaps even braver than him!
Yang Yi no longer underestimated Zhou Dai. He drew the Sea Serpent's Fang and swiftly sliced through her left ankle, causing blood to pour out.
With the ankle no longer a hindrance, they quickly crawled out from beneath the slanted wooden plank.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Once freed, Zhou Dai pulled a bottle of holy water from her storage bag and poured it over the severed limb.
She then drank another bottle of holy water and began to bandage the wound.
Yang Yi stood aside, offering no help, as he couldn't see.
After finishing, Zhou Dai had beads of sweat on her face, her complexion a bit pale.
But strangely...
Losing her ankle didn’t seem to put much strain on her mentally. The pain was even beginning to subside.
It felt...like a light injury, not a big deal.
With a calm expression, Zhou Dai finished bandaging the wound and stopping the bleeding.
Yang Yi suddenly spoke up.
“Miss Zhou, I actually have a way to give you a new foot, though I'm not sure if you'd be willing.”
“A new foot? How?”
“I know a healing spell that can attach new limbs, but since your original foot is crushed, it will have to be replaced,” Yang Yi explained.
Zhou Dai was surprised.
She hadn’t expected Yang Yi to have healing magic. No wonder he was so capable.
“You can try searching through the ruins. I once found a right leg, but maybe I missed something — there could still be a left one. Also, you’ll need some fresh flesh for the repair.”
“Fresh flesh?”
“Yes.”
Zhou Dai frowned.
She didn’t understand why healing magic would require fresh flesh.
But without a foot, it was difficult to even walk.
Since she had a chance to heal, she didn’t want to miss it, especially since it could be her only opportunity.
“Alright, help me down and I’ll look around. If it works, I’ll give you an extra 10,000 Shell Coins as a medical fee.”
“No need,” Yang Yi declined.
The body restoration spell wasn’t perfect.
Even after the repair, Zhou Dai might choose to amputate again.
“There are also some bodies along the coast, but they have rabid wolf disease, so there’s some risk involved,” Yang Yi added.
The two quickly got to work. Zhou Dai gave directions, and Yang Yi provided support.
Suddenly, a warm current surged through Yang Yi's body.
【You are blessed, your mind and body are cleansed, maximum sanity +20, maximum energy +20, lasts for 2 hours.】
It was Zhou Dai's talent. She could increase others' attribute limits through blessings.
Yet this time, the blessing took Yang Yi by surprise because the blessing not only increased the limits, but also restored the corresponding values of sanity and energy.
It caused Yang Yi to snap out of his frenzy, letting his shoulder begin to ache horribly.
“How’s that? Do you feel better?” Zhou Dai asked with a smile. “This is my talent. I can bless up to 5 people at once.”
“Uh... I guess it's okay.”
Yang Yi could only respond vaguely, feeling that this woman...didn’t quite match his personality.
Zhou Dai continued to search through the ruins, and at Yang Yi's guidance, she retrieved the Holy Casket from the bushes.
It seemed she could store it in her bag.
After about ten minutes, Zhou Dai found some glass jars, some of which were well-sealed. Others were broken, containing a slightly rotten right leg, and a pile of decaying meat-like tissue.
As for the the leg, it was nowhere to be found.
“Does the flesh have to be fresh?” Zhou Dai asked.
“It doesn’t need to be, but it works better. If it’s not fresh, it’s better to have more,” Yang Yi replied, not knowing exactly what Zhou Dai had picked up.
“Alright, this should be enough! What should I do now?”
“Place the foot against the stump and align it. The flesh can be placed beside it,” Yang Yi instructed.
Zhou Dai followed his directions and told him she was ready.
Yang Yi then applied the body restoration spell under her guidance.
Ancient, peculiar runes appeared and quickly turned into tiny spiders, stitching the severed limb back together.
At the same time, they filled in the surrounding flesh.
About a minute later, the spell finished.
Zhou Dai's foot had been restored. It looked odd, its color a dull green, and at its top was embedded a murky, nonfunctional eyeball.
She tested the foot out, and it worked perfectly.
The feet were not symmetrical, but as they were the same length, she walked steadily.
She could even control her toes, using the newly created "left foot" just like she could originally. It was truly amazing!
The healing magic had surpassed 21st-century medical technology!
Zhou Dai was very satisfied.
Although it looked ugly, she suddenly realised she didn’t care about her appearance anymore.
As long as her face was fine, it was enough! After all, her foot would be hidden in shoes.
No one would ever know!
She calmly took a pair of shoes from her storage bag and put them on.
“Thank you. This magic is amazing!” Zhou Dai expressed her gratitude.
“Glad you’re satisfied,” Yang Yi replied.
Since he couldn’t see, he had no idea that Zhou Dai now had two right feet...
If he could see, he’d definitely question the woman’s sanity — something seemed off with her.
