Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 415 Completed Machine

This idea of creating a massive grinder didn't just come out of nowhere. It was actually a defense mechanism he had seen before in the A.I. Rebellion. To be exact, it was used by the A.I. Androids to decimate the humans who had tried invading their territory.

This time, however, Shane thought of using this same technology to massacre the Zombies.

Nonetheless, although this was definitely a decent plan to deal with a huge number of enemies, it wouldn't be easy.

'But with my Otherworldly Mechanic… It's doable…'

He could practically hear the grinding of metal and the splatter of rotting flesh as he imagined the machine at work.

Opening the Anima Store, Shane began scrolling through the inventory for the necessary parts for the grinder that he needed to create.

As his fingers moved, a familiar sense of excitement took over him. It was always fascinating to see what the store had to offer. This time, he knew exactly what he was looking for.

"Sawtooth Gears," Shane murmured to himself, stopping at an item listed for 500 Zombie Cores each. These razor-sharp gears would form the heart of the grinder, capable of cutting through zombie flesh and bone like butter. Of course, they weren't just may of normal iron but an alloy made by alien technology.

[ Sawtooth Gears – A set of advanced mechanical gears made from reinforced black goldfire steel, designed to withstand immense pressure. Perfect for building grinders or other heavy-duty machinery.]

Cost: 500 Zombie Cores each

Stock: 4 sets available ]

He clicked buy without hesitation, spending 2,000 Zombie Cores on the necessary gears. It was expensive but not too much.

Next, he needed something to power the grinder—a reliable engine that wouldn't fail when things got hectic.

"Energized Core Engine…" His eyes stopped at the listing. It was perfect, albeit expensive.

[ Energized Core Engine – A compact, high-powered engine fueled by at least 10 Low-Grade Spirit Stones. Capable of running continuously for 48 hours before requiring refueling.]

Cost: 500 Zombie Cores + 100 Reputation Points + 300 Experience Points ]

Shane sighed at the cost. He had plenty of Zombie Cores, but Reputation Points were harder to come by.

His Reputation Points may seem like a lot right now, as they had reached four digits already, but he had earned a decent number from quests or missions that rarely appear.

As for the Experience Points, he didn't mind losing just 300 points since, based on his calculation, reaching the next level would need about 2,000 more points. He should have about a thousand points right now, so his level wouldn't go down just yet.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

This was going to cut into his reserves, but he still stopped hesitating and clicked buy.

Next, he needed a Chain-Saw Conveyor. This component would pull zombies into the grinder, ensuring they couldn't escape once caught in the machine's deadly grip.

This knowledge was, of course, with Cloud's guidance… After all, he had no idea how to really make this. He was just consulting Cloud about these purchases.

[ Chain-Saw Conveyor – A conveyor belt system lined with chainsaw blades. Designed to drag targets into the grinder and ensure they are properly shredded.]

Cost: 800 Zombie Cores + 275 Reputation Points + 500 Experience Points

Shane frowned. "Experience Points again…"

This wasn't something he usually had to pay so now that he would spend Experience Points again, he felt a little pained.

However, knowing that he'd get more of them in the upcoming Zombie, he felt that he would be able to recompense all of them…

'I just hope that this will be the last time I'm spending my Experience Points for this.' He mused.

While spending Reputation Points was one thing, Experience Points meant sacrificing his own progress. Anyway, he knew this machine would be vital for the camp's defense, so after a moment of contemplation, he committed.

"Experience can be gained again. A destroyed shelter can't," he told himself as he clicked buy.

With the major components purchased, Shane completed the rest of his shopping quickly, selecting various bolts, control systems, and an Auto-Repair Module to ensure the grinder could fix itself during battle if damaged.

These final pieces cost him another 450 Zombie Cores and 228 Reputation Points, but it would keep the grinder operational even in the thick of combat.

After making his purchases, Shane closed the Anima Store.

His inventory was now stocked with the parts he needed, but that was only half the battle. The real work was about to begin.

For the next several hours, Shane worked tirelessly.

His Otherworldly Mechanic Talent kicked into high gear, guiding his hands as he assembled the massive grinder piece by piece.

Thankfully, with his strength and agility, which had already surpassed several limits, he was able to do the work more quickly than if others had helped him.

The sawtooth gears had soon attracted several people's attention as they were carefully installed at the inner wall that Shane was about to make.

Well, he decided to create this grinder for those who would be able to pass through their gates or climb up his wall. He decided to do this just in case he would be dealing with Spitter Zombies. After all, he was worried that these long-range attackers could damage his grinder, even if it was made of special alloy.

Soon, the Chain-Saw Conveyor was mounted at the entrance to the grinder, it was designed to pull in any unfortunate zombie that got too close.

Click… Click… Click…

Soon, the Energized Core Engine hummed to life as Shane turned on the machine...

He then looked at his creation.

The entire device was installed just in front of the outer fence.

"Mhmm… It covers the whole northern side… This should be good enough." Shane muttered. Since behind the camp was a huge mountain rock where the Silver Mine was located, they didn't have to worry about the Zombies coming on that side.

Shane's idea was simple: let the zombies rush toward the camp where they would be met by their sides bombardment and hundreds of traps installed. But as they reached the walls, the weaker ones would be electrocuted to death, and those who still had some strength and pass through the gates would then be met by his new creation.

The conveyor would drag them into the grinder's sawtooth gears, shredding them to pieces before they could even breach the first line of defense.

Anyway, Shane was still not over.

He then deactivated the machine as the Auto-Repair Module was connected, ensuring that any damage caused by larger zombies—or even mutant creatures—would be fixed on the spot.

As Shane tightened the final bolt, he wiped the sweat from his brow and stepped back to admire his work.

The machine was enormous, a steel monstrosity with rotating gears, blades, and chains that literally scared some of the workers who had passed by.

It was a masterpiece of engineering, one that could only exist due to his unique talent.

He then activated the control panel and watched as the grinder roared to life.

The gears began spinning, the conveyor started moving, and the entire machine seemed to be ready to destroy anything.

Shane allowed himself a small, satisfied smile after seeing this.

Just then, a system notification flashed in front of him.

[ Zombie Grinder successfully constructed! ]

[ Zombie Grinder: The Zombie Grinder is a massive, automated defense system designed to annihilate hordes of undead. Equipped with Sawtooth Gears and a Chain-Saw Conveyor, the grinder pulls zombies into its deadly mechanism, shredding them into nothing more than a pile of gore and bones. ]

[ Type: Defensive Structure

Status: Fully Operational

Effect: Automatically grinds any zombies within 8 meters. Can handle up to 200 zombies per minute. ]

Shane nodded, pleased with the system's confirmation. He wasn't sure about the basis of 200 zombies per minute, but Shane assumed that it was calculated based on the lowest-tier zombies.

Anyway, This grinder would make all the difference when the Zombie Wave hit.

"I guess I'm done preparing…" Shane muttered to himself. The camp was now fortified like never before, and with his own strength to add, they should have been strong enough to deal with this Zombie Wave without any casualties.

It must be remembered that Shane had several casualties, including some of his Super Soldiers in the previous Zombie Wave. He didn't want that to happen once again.

As the sun began to set, Shane returned to the main building, where Diana, Spencer, Laureen, Mew, and the rest of his core team were waiting. They had seen the massive grinder being installed and looked at him with awe and curiosity.

"Is it ready?" Diana asked…

Tomorrow would be the third Zombie Wave, so she couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.

Shane gave a firm nod.

"It's ready. When the zombies come, we'll be more than prepared..."

The others exchanged relieved looks, though the tension still lingered. Shane understood their worry. No matter how well-prepared they were, the Zombie Wave was always a test of survival. But this time, he knew that they had the upper hand.

Now, it was time to ask Raze about the preparation of the Springriver Manor.
