Chapter 449 Regional Rookie Competition Begins!
Shye couldn't help but narrow his eyes slightly upon hearing the competition format.
'Huh? If it's like this then wouldn't I have the advantage? I've been solo adventuring since the beginning! What the hell is that idiotic Damien saying then?' Shye pondered in confusion, deciding to listen to Bart's subsequent words of explanation for now.
"In this format of competition, we will be able to witness how the young elites handle themselves inside the adventuring zones, giving us, the mundane folks, a glimpse of their true magnificence as professional adventurers."
"Naturally, we would be ensuring their safety. Each competitor would be given emergency escape talismans that would teleport them back to a specific area in the city manned by one of our staff members."
"Of course, once a competitor uses their emergency talisman, their hunt is considered over. Our judges will then verify the integrity of their hunts using an automatic recording crystal, which each of our talented rookies will receive, and calculate their total points right after."
Hearing Bart's explanation, Shye, the other competitors, and the viewers—both those watching the holographic television broadcast in their homes and those on site were enlightened.
As per everyone's understanding, the young adventurers will head out to an assigned advanced adventurer zone to hunt monstrous creatures, where their hunts will be documented by the rather expensive automatic recording crystal, and they will earn corresponding points for each creature they successfully slay.
As for how many points the competitors would earn for each creature killed, everyone could only wait for Bart's explanation to find out.
"Competitors, you may look at the holographic screen for the corresponding points for each creature killed."

"Each competitor will be given two weeks to hunt. After that, they would have to return to the arena using this teleportation scroll. An arena staff would then retrieve their automatic recording crystal to verify the total number of points each competitor has earned."
Both the crowd and the competitors were rather disappointed, though, as they thought that it would be boring if the results were merely announced right after.
Also, for the first time, they couldn't help but doubt the integrity of the competition.
After all, how would they know if one of the competitors bought the judges' favor, allowing him to obtain a few "extra points" to win?
The rules were simply a failure to them.
'Sigh…at least I earned 130,000 points just for showing up…' Shye consoled himself.
He was utterly disappointed, believing that his chance to earn a lot of points had been ruined by this new rule.
However, how could the World Adventurer Association and the ever-meticulous City Lord Blas mess things up so badly?
"I know what everyone is worried about; however, fret not, for we shall hold a presentation day where the hunts of the top five adventurers will be replayed on a huge holographic screen, allowing everyone to not only verify the integrity of the competition but also relish the thrilling hunts of our young adventurers."
Bart's subsequent explanation naturally elicited thunderous cheers from the crowd as it indeed solved their worries about a boring competition.
After a while, their cheers suddenly died down as one young adventurer raised his hand to ask a question—Damien.
"Yes, Representative Damien Martinez of Pargon City, correct?"
"Yes, Host Bart. I have a question."
"Please do ask, Sir Damien."
"Are there any limitations to the equipment and items we can use?"
Hearing Damien's question, Bart was stumped.
He didn't receive instructions regarding equipment and item limitations, hence, after a quick analysis, Valenzia's best host answered:
"There are no restrictions on equipment and items, but you may only use what is already in your spatial bag at this moment, as you will be escorted to the designated adventurer zone after the opening ceremony."
"I see, thank you for confirming, Host Bart!" Damien replied enthusiastically, glancing at Shye with a triumphant smile right after.
'Hoh, so that's what he meant by embracing his position in his clan…' Shye thought disdainfully. 'And the source of his confidence…'
Damien at least had shame when they first met, but now, even that has been thrown out the window.
'What a disgusting trash…'
"Are there no more questions? If so, then let the competition begin! Staff members, please lead the way!"
***
Naturally, since the competition had already begun, the competition time already started ticking.
Still, contrary to everyone's expectations, the youngsters were led to a faraway adventurer zone called Roza, one that most of them were unfamiliar with.
This was a deliberate arrangement from the WAA and City Lord Blas to ensure fairness between the competitors.
Moreover, their true mettle would be better tested in an unfamiliar zone.
After twelve hours of nonstop marching (deliberately planned by the organizers), the sun began its slow descent, allowing darkness to once more shroud the entire world, with only two moons and a few stars to pierce the gloom.
'Hoh…so the competition begins at nighttime huh? This would surely eliminate the weaker ones almost immediately…'
Arriving at the zone's lobby, a shocking view greeted the young adventurers.
"Wind Wyvern!"
There was an enormous white wyvern that stood in the middle of the zone's vast lobby. However, none of them could feel the slightest bit of danger from it.
'Hoh, so some people could actually tame creatures of this size and rank, huh?'
It was an A- ranked creature, hence, Shye slightly found it hard to believe that such majestic and prideful monsters could be tamed.
After a few more minutes of walking, they finally noticed the airship tethered to the wyvern, which brought confused expressions to the faces of the young adventurers.
"Everyone, please board the airship and follow the instructions of the assigned staff member. When your name is called, it means you must disembark. You will be dropped off at random locations within the zone to ensure fairness."
