Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 431 Holy Zone

This time, slight fear and anxiety crept into Haoran's old heart.

His skill, [(Light)Celestial Blessing Lv.4(Rare)], was one of his true trump cards, and if it still failed to give him an advantage no matter how small, then he might be in trouble.

Still, he maintained a valiant facade, not allowing Shye to sense even the slightest bit of his inner thoughts.

"Hmmph, you talk too much, brat! I don't believe a single clash could determine a battle's outcome."

Hearing the old filth's words, Shye merely sneered in disdain.

After a brief silence, the two combatants charged forth once more, engaging in yet another series of violent yet mesmerizing battle sequences—something one could only see in a battle between high-ranked adventurers.

A pity that Shirley wasn't conscious to witness it as she would surely learn a lot.

Still, the results remained the same despite the power-ups.

Shye slowly but steadily pushed the old filth back, sending him staggering with every violent blow of his greatswords.

"YOU BRAT!! ADMIT IT, YOU'RE A SOUL ART PRACTITIONER AREN'T YOU?! I WOULDN'T BE LOSING TO SOME SNOT-NOSED KID LIKE YOU OTHERWISE!"

Hearing Haoran's outburst, Shye couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Hahahahaha! Old bastard, don't you hear your embarrassing self? With your age, you should be able to determine easily whether someone is a soul art practitioner or not. Even you don't believe what you're saying! Just accept the fact that an ugly, lecherous old bastard like you is inferior and will forever be when compared to someone like me!"

Naturally, Shye's sharp words that struck every critical nerve angered the old filth to no end.

With gnashed teeth, Haoran spoke once more:

"Fine, fine. Let's say you win this verbal battle with that ruthless tongue of yours. However, if you believe that this is all I had, then you're gravely mistaken!"

Shortly after, the old filth stepped back to create some distance, and since Shye was protecting the unconscious Shirley, he couldn't stray too far from his original position lest the old bastard decided to target her.

He knew what the old bastard was about to do anyway. Continue your adventure at empire

Only, he didn't know the effects of Haoran's [(Light)Holy Zone Lv.3(Unique)], and he could only watch him activate it.

Well, based on its name, it should only grant the old filth some advantages, not instantly take Shye out with one strong, burst-type attack.

Sure enough, after activation, holy light once again descended upon the entire floor, bathing the area in golden rays; then, three seconds later, the rocky walls turned golden, making it seem as though the two of them were inside a sacred domain—a skill truly deserving of its name, "Holy Zone."

Only, the user was nowhere near the word holy.

Still, the skill did its job, forcefully banning the use of all elemental skills and those of the dark element, allowing the use of only those that were affiliated to no elements and those of the light.

As a result, Shye's wings disintegrated into black mana particles along with the bonuses of his [Fallen's Howl] skill.

"Hahahaha! What now, kid?! As long as I keep this domain active, the restrictions will remain! Want to know what those restrictions are? Better stay alive and find out for yourself then! Hahahaha!"

After mocking Shye, the old filth charged forward and brandished his greataxe diagonally downwards, forcing Shye to slash both greatswords forward to block Haoran's attack.

Of course, he subconsciously used [Power Slash] to increase his chances of successfully protecting himself, forgetting the fact that "some restrictions" are in place.

*CLANG!*

As the two weapons clashed, a surprising outcome occurred: the old bastard was slightly overpowered in the exchange because Shye successfully activated one of his skills.

"Pfft! Hahahaha! You stupid old dog! What the f*ck?! After all that tough talk, you'll just lose again?!" Shye ruthlessly mocked back.

Even he couldn't believe what just happened.

Utterly humiliated, Haoran couldn't even think of a retort on the fly, still in disbelief that Shye instantly found one loophole of his Holy Zone.

Normally, people would be panicking, especially someone so young.

"YOU LUCKY LITTLE BASTARD!! AGAIN! THIS TIME, I'LL SLAUGHTER YOU!" Haoran raged, once again charging straight at Shye with fiery vengeance burning in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Shye opted for a temporary defensive approach. At least until he finds out the restrictions of this darned zone.

To block a skill-empowered blow from Haoran, Shye activated another one of his common-tier skills, [Destructive Chop Lv.5].

Only, this time, the results differed as Shye was blown back.

Haoran had the advantage of his celestial blessing while Shye's fallen skills were forcefully deactivated so this was the expected result.

"Hahahahaha! Let's see if you still dare talk back, snot-nosed brat!"

Still, Shye didn't panic, focusing on analyzing the Holy Zone instead.

'Fireball! Icicle Spear! Earthen spikes! Wind cutters!'

Each time he had a chance to breathe, Shye tried to activate his elemental skills, however, none of them worked.

'Hmmm…so elemental skills and dark-type skills don't work.' He pondered after being sent sliding backward once more, ignoring the relentless mocking words coming from the old filth's mouth.

'However, since his [Celestial Blessing] skill, which should be of the (Light) category, still works, then it should mean that only skills of that certain category are usable…but then how was I able to use [Power Slash]? Could it be…Blades of Despair!'

"Hahahahaha! Brat, once I capture you, I'll make you watch something ni–?!"

The old filth's words were cut short upon realizing that a dark purple aura suddenly enveloped both of Shye's greatswords.

"Hahahaha, your time is up, old bastard. I've already discovered that aside from skills in the (Light) category, your Holy Zone permits the use of skills that aren't tied to any element."

Naturally, Haoran was infuriated yet again, not only by Shye's words but also by his tone, which seemed to imply that he had already won.

"SHUT UP! YOU LITTLE TWERP! THAT DOESN'T MEAN JACK SHIT IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE APPROPRIATE SKILLS TO BACK YOUR FINDINGS UP!"

"Hahahaha! Oh, but unfortunately for you, old dog, I do."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
