Chapter 85 They Wont Be Smiling For Long
A person wearing this restaurant's uniform blocked Roland and Stacey's way.
"Sorry, this table has been reserved…" the person with a serving plate on her hand stated.
Roland stared at the girl, only to find out that he actually knew her.
As if recognizing Roland as well, the girl's eyes also lit up, "Roland? It's actually you, what are you doing here?"
This girl was Roland's classmate, Amy. She was sitting at the back seat near Roland so they were familiar with each other. However, the two of them had not interacted that much since Roland would always mind his own business.
"This is?" Amy turned to look at Stacey.
"Oh, I did not expect to see you here. Right, this is Stacey, my girlfriend. And well, we're about to eat here, but obviously, we can't do it now because all of the tables were already full," Roland said with a shrug as he looked around the place.
The only free table was actually reserved, what a bad time for them to be here.
Hearing what Roland said, a visible disappointment could be seen in the girl's eyes. However, it only occurred for a split second before she said, "Ahh, too bad. This seat has already been reserved though."
In truth, the seat was actually not reserved. Earlier, Amy saw Roland entering with a girl and immediately realized that they were on a date. Amy has had a crush on Roland ever since she saw him the first time in college, seeing him bringing a girl here, she could not help but feel jealous.
Knowing that they were going to eat here and that the table was almost full, she decided to give them a hard time out of spite.
The table was actually not reserved. Amy only said so because she doesn't want to see Roland having a good time with another girl.
She knew that what she was doing was wrong, however, she and the other waiters in this restaurant had the liberty to reject certain customers from time to time. It was a kind of advantage given to them by a senior waitress, but they were warned not to abuse it.
Of course, they also received the silent nod from their manager, that was why they dared to do so.
She had never used hers before, but with Roland being here with another girl, she saw the opportunity to use the privilege so, she did so.
However, she noted to herself that if Roland asked for her favor to have this seat, she would surely give this seat to them. With that favor, she would slowly work her way up to Roland.
Stacey squinted her eyes as she looked at Amy. Being with Roland, she has become sensitive to how others saw him. She saw the unusual emotion in Amy's eyes and she had some guesses to what she was trying to do.
Do not get fooled by her unusual fantasies, Stacey was actually a very smart and capable girl.
"Who reserved this seat?" She asked with a straight face.
"Uhhh… I'm sorry but we can't disclose that information," Amy replied back.
"If this seat was reserved, how come there was no reserved sign at the table?"
"This… it's because- it's because it was reserved just now. That's right, it was reserved just now," Amy stated as she began to panic from Stacey's inquisitions.
Seeing her reaction, even Roland finally has a clue at what was going on.
Stacey rolled her eyes at her before saying, "Alright, call your manager over."
Roland thought that the matter had gotten out of hand already. They were only here to eat and enjoy a buffet. He shook his head at Amy before facing Stacey, "It's alright, we'll just find another restaurant like this."
There was no need to blow it up. If they didn't want to let them eat here, so be it. They could just find another restaurant. At this time, Roland was not in the mood for a face-slap, and Amy was also not trying to look down on him either. It's better to just find another restaurant and eat peacefully than to stay here.
However, seeing Roland's giving her that look, Amy could not help but feel irritated. If only Roland asked her politely, she could have given up the seat for them.
However, not only was he not trying to ask the favor, he was even giving her that kind of look. How could she not be irritated as her plan began to backfire?
"Alright, I'll call the manager, just wait here!"
Amy thought that since the manager was on her side this time, there was nothing to worry about calling him over.
And since Roland was not even trying to curry favor with her, then she would not mind sending them away.
"Seriously, we could have just searched for a new place, it's not a big deal," Roland said to Stacey as Amy's back disappeared from their vision.
Stacey turned to look at him with a pout, "I know, I just felt that she's trying to target us for no reason!"
In fact, Stacey was actually a little angry at how Amy was looking at Roland.
A while later, Amy came back with a middle-aged man wearing an employee uniform but in a different shade of color.
"Hello, dear customers, is there a problem?"
Stacey nodded her head and answered, "Yes. She said that this seat has been reserved but why doesn't it have a reserved sign?"
The manager smiled wryly as he turned to look at Amy who was giving him some signs.
The manager immediately understood what was going on, he turned to Stacey and Roland and said, "Well, I am very sorry to inform you but this seat has truly been reserved. If you want, you can just wait for a few minutes, and we will inform you when a table is already available?"
Stacey was silent hearing that. She looked at the manager and then to Amy before she understood what was going on.
The manager was clearly taking sides.
"Alright, let's go!" Stacey took Roland's hand as they left the establishment.
A victorious and gloating smile appeared on Amy's face as she saw them turning around.
The manager turned to look at her and said, "This will be your last for this month!"
…
"Seriously, what's wrong with them? Why aren't they accepting customers? And what's with their gloating smile as we left?" Roland shook his head as they arrived outside the small commercial building.
"It's alright, just let them. They won't be smiling and working there in a while anyways," Stacey said, her tone was unlike before. Roland could feel that she was serious.
"What are you trying to do?" Roland could not help but ask.
"Nothing. I just feel like removing one of our competitors, isn't that a good thing?" She stated with a smile as she faced Roland.
Roland shrugged his shoulders as he suddenly gave her a kiss, "As long as you don't do something illegal."
Stacey was taken aback by that, she did not expect Roland to make a move all of a sudden. Anyways, she did not hate his actions and she even hung her arms around his as they walked away searching for another restaurant.
As they walked, Stacey took out her Ay-phone 18 that has the same color as Roland as she texted a number.
After that, the two of them finally found a small restaurant and Roland finally experienced his 'eat all you can' experience.
Unbeknownst to Roland, a few hours after they left, the restaurant that Amy was working with actually decided to close down for good all of a sudden without any reason.
